What I Wore-My Style

Good morning! It’s What I Wore day here on the blog. In case you’re new around here, on Wednesdays I share fashion for women over 40. Many of you have said you struggle with knowing what to wear so I’m hoping these posts will help.

Yesterday I shared spring fashion trends and I wanted to make sure you all knew that those are the spring trends, but we aren’t going to be wearing the outfits the models were wearing on the runway. 🙂 Hopefully, when those trends come to our stores we’ll find some more conservative versions!

Now on to What I Wore! One of the things I’m seeing everywhere this winter is riding boots. I love boots and women of any age can wear them. I purchased these on Amazon and they’re comfortable and fit great. They zip up in the back so they’re easy to get on and off.  They were $44 with free shipping.

I’m also wearing a blouse from Old Navy. I like the style because it’s flattering for women our age. It’s a little longer in the back, and 3/4 length sleeve is flattering on our arms.

I had my hair colored and highlighted with red highlights. I went a little darker (I’m supposed to be going lighter, I know). I don’t mind experimenting with color because it can always be changed.

Have you purchased any riding boots? Where did you get yours?

Beauty For the Heart~~Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16 The Message

Let’s Shine today for Him!

  1. Wow Kelly! Congratulations on losing 73 pounds. That is quite an accomplishment!
I’m so glad you stopped by and I’m hoping I can help inspire you to look beautiful inside and out.
    Blessings,
    Cyndi

  2. Lee Ann it’s not too young for you!! I promise!! 4 inch stilettos and a mini skirt is too young but not boots tucked into your jeans. Wear them with pride! 🙂
    BLessings,
    Cyndi

  3. Hey Christine!
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog!! Yes, the color is Tan-11. Also, I wear a 7 1/2 size shoe. I ordered a 7 1/2 and they fit perfect! They are true to size.
    I hope that helps!
    Blessings,
    Cyndi

  4. New stalker to your blog! 🙂 Love it! I turned 40 a few months ago and so far it’s not too bad! I don’t feel it or look it so I guess that’s a good start! Thanks for all the great tips. We actually dress very similar so it’s nice to see that I have a fashion twin! Plus I’m in the dental field and a Carolina fan too! 🙂 Can you tell me what color boots you are wearing? This shade of brown if the exact one I’ve been looking for but I can’t figure out which one it is on Amazon. I think it’s the Tan-11 but just wanted to double check. Thanks again Cyndi!!

  5. I love the color of your blouse. I had to chuckle when I read what you wrote, “women of all ages can wear boots”. I recently wore my jeans tucked into some boots that I just bought. This is a new look for me, and my 20 yr old told me not to wear it. She said that the look is too young for me; I’m 47. I still wore it!

  6. I am so thrilled that I stumbled or rather more accurately directed to your web site. I believe this is the very blog I have been looking for. I am a Pastor’s Wife who is over 40 and I am just beginning to find my fashion style. Over the last year I have lost 73 pounds so now I am only 15 to 16 pounds from my desired goal. With this weight loss the need for new clothes has risen and I am loving fashion but want Christ to be in the center and for Him to shine. There is more I could share but for the sake of time let’s just say I am excited to be lead to your site and look forward to browsing through it all.

  7. Cyndi I have that Old Navy blouse in blue and I love it,maybe I’ll go out and get boots,it’s pretty cool in the Caribbean now and very rainy! You look great in that outfit!

  8. My husband came home from work a few weeks ago and said his boss (the world’s best!) had planned his meetings in Paris so he would have to stay over the weekend so he could take me. Since it is cold in France and you had said any age could wear boots, I got a pair at Macy’s. Even though we don’t get that cold in California we like to pretend, so I’m sure I’ll still wear them (I see them on everyone).

  9. Oh Teresa I’m sorry you’re having a hard time! I have a cousin who has RA and it’s very painful for her.
    Thanks for all your encouragement!
    Cyndi

  10. I just purchased this top in the kelly green and navy stripes! I was hesitant at first because of the stripes (even though there are just a few with a big patch of green in between) and having gained weight recently but I love it!
I love riding boots! I’m a bit of a shoe freak and have 5 pairs of riding boots: black, gray, camel, tan, and a dark chocolate. They are perfect for my days in the classroom!

  11. cyndi, you are beautiful and such an inspiration! I love the darker hair color with red highlights. My sweet daughter bought me some riding boots a couple of Christmases ago and I love wearing them. In southeast Georgia it doesn’t stay cold long enough to get to enjoy them, though. I’m going to branch out and try wearing them with some different outfits……what about chambray, dark skinny jeans, and a scarf?

  12. Love this color on you, CynDOLL.
Your boots are really cute on you. Don’t have boots like this. Think they are cute.

Have a delightful day and God Bless,
    d on the prairie

  13. Hi Cyndi.

The green/teal color looks great on you! I think your dark hair and highlights is perfect for you. You have the eyes and skin tone to stay darker.

I have a pair of black riding boots that I picked up at Target! They are super cute. Just ordered a pair with more of a heel and cannot wait for them to get here. They are also black. My mom gave me a pair of chamois colored Timberland boots for Christmas, and I love those too. A little bit of a chunky heel on a boot keeps me from feeling so short. My black riding boots from Target do have a flat heel, but I love them anyway!

Thanks for another great post! Have an amazing week.

  14. My beautiful precious friend….I love the Turquoise top …..One of my very favorite colors…Love it in my home decor here at the beach and also on me….Your hair is so lovely as you are also….I would love to try riding boots but with my RA I am having a very difficult time finding any shoes or boots that I can wear…..So glad it has been a mild Winter here….because my toes and feet surely do get cold.
My RA doc wants me to have surgery to straighten my hammer toes but I do not feel I can go through with it….Just keep on praying and sharing the beauty with us…..♥

  15. I love those boots Cyndi. Cute! I can’t believe the price you paid for them. I never think to look on Amazon. My husband will be so happy that I have found a place to purchase shoes from! Ha!

  16. I bought some great riding boots at Nordstrom on sale last year. I liked them so much I bought both the brown and black! I bought my 12 year old daughter a cute pair at SAMs Club for $29.

  17. Hi Cyndi- I’m fairly new to your blog and I love to see what you are wearing! I am a working mom and I would love to see some cute and comfortable outfits that don’t include jeans. I am not allowed to wear jeans to work but I want to be comfortable. I am on my feet most of the day so I don’t wear heels as my feet hurt too badly by the end of the day! I’d love to see any suggestions you might have for comfortable and fashionable work attire. Blessings to you!

  18. Love your outfit, Cyndi (and had to peek at your dining room table… love it too! I love the higher chair styles!). I purchased my riding boots from JC Penney… super cheap on Black Friday 🙂 Hope you have a great day! 🙂

  19. Love your outfit. I have heard that mint is the color for this spring. Like your hair also. I have been told that we are suppose to go darker in the winter months and lighter in the spring and summer months.
