How To Wear White Pants

Spring is officially in full swing so I’m pulling out the white pantsWhite is such a great versatile color and it looks like it’s going to be very popular this season. I love wearing white pants but sometimes wearing them can be a little tricky.

How To Wear White Pants

Here are 3 things to remember when wearing white pants.

1. Always wear neutral undergarments. White and dark undergarments will show through.

2. Pair white pants with a neutral shoe. To keep yourself from looking like a nurse don’t wear them with white sandals. A neutral sandal looks best.

3. Don’t wear “too-tight” white pants. White tends to show every imperfection so you don’t want them to be too tight. If the pockets are showing through, cut the pockets out.

How To Wear White Pants

If you’re reluctant to wear white pants because you think they make you look bigger, focus on finding the perfect fit for your body type. Play with different tops and shapes or try longer blouses or short dresses over your pants.

Are you wearing white pants yet?

  1. Love your tips for wearing white pants….I agree with the light colored “lingerie”….that is best with white pants…LOL and love your tip on the light neutral shoes too! I have been wearing white jeans and capris since early April! I don’t go by the saying of waiting till after Labor Day to wear white. I also love to pair them with pale color blouses!!
Have you ever done a blog on fasting? I am on my 4th day of fasting for health…no food, only water. I am keeping a journal of my experiences along the way…have lost an amazing 8.0 pounds in 4 days…and no excess baggy skin hanging!! This experience is awesome and rewarding. Have a great weekend, Cindi. I always look forward to reading your blogs!! <3

  2. great tips but I need one more and it is the real biggy. How to stay clean and fresh looking– No matter what I do, white always ends up with a spot in some very obvious spot and I look like someone wiped their hands and or mouth on me.

  3. Great tips! I love your shoes with the pants, they are the perfect color to wear with white. I got a pair of white pants last season, pretty much the same as the pair you have, same weight of fabric, same length. I only wore them a couple of times. This may sound really dumb, but I have fair skin and my skin does not react well with most self-tanners. I felt like my really white ankles and feel next to my white pants just looked to “ewww”! What do you think about the “white on white” look? Thanks Cyndi. 🙂

  4. I was inspired by last week’s post about your white pants and I did find a great pair at New York and Company on Thursday of last week. Still need to get neutral undies and figure out what top and sandals to wear but at least I finally got the pants!

  5. Your outfit is very nice and I especially like your shoes. You usually give a list of where you got your items but not this time. May I ask where you got your shoes? Thank you for sharing, I really look forward to your blog!

  6. Hi Cyndi.

I do like white pants as well. I bought a pair of white skinny jeans a couple of months ago, and I haven’t worn them yet. Not sure why since we are now “allowed” to wear white pants year round. I think I will wear them this week. Like Lynne said, I will probably pair them with a black linen blouse, belt, silver jewelry, and black flats. I have neutral wedges, but I’m thinking I’ll stick to the black flats with the black blouse. I will wear the neutral wedges when I wear them with my green blouse from Stitch Fix. 🙂

Hope you have a great week!

  7. I love white bermuda shorts, capris and pants. I just bought a wonderful pair of white pants at Ann Taylor at our outlet stores here. You don’t have to worry about the pockets showing through because they make their inside pockets with neutral fabric (beige) so that they will not show. Of course you still need to wear beige panties. I was thinking I would wear my black shirt with them with black flats and it would look ok. I didn’t realize I needed to wear neutral shoes too.

  8. I haven’t pulled mine out quite yet as it’s still too cold here in the Ohio river valley. I love white and have full-length bells, capris and a scooter skirt. They go with everything from pastels to more vibrant hues. I especially like the “nautical look of blue and white stripes. I’ve always wanted jeans, but felt they would be too hot for our humid summers. It’s sweltering even at night.

  9. It has been years since I have owned a pair of white pants but I looked at some today that I think I am going to go back and try on. I think they are so pretty and you can put anything with them. Love your outfit and thanks for the great tips.

  10. I haven’t owned a pair of white pants or skirts in decades I’m sure. In fact, I think my mother bought my last pair of white pants when I was a young teen. They were Fortrel (anyone remember that fabric?)
I don’t buy them because I’m afraid I’ll get them dirty before I walk out the door! And then I also have to buy neutral underwear. Haha

  11. I have a great pair of Cabi white jeans that I love to wear. Since they are denim they don’t cling and they aren’t so heavy that I can’t wear them in the summer.
