Stitch Fix Questions Answered

Good morning! I get lots of emails about Stitch Fix. So today I thought I’d try to answer some of your questions. I posted about it here too.

Stitch Fix is a personal styling service. A group of stylists put together 5 stylish pieces of clothing (sometimes jewelry and/or accessories items are included) and ship them directly to you!  It’s a great way to add to your current wardrobe and get a hold of pieces that you might otherwise not have access to. No two Fixes are alike. Each one is hand–picked just for you.

Everyone has to fill out a detailed style profile with questions about your size, how you like your clothes to fit, and areas you want them to focus on.

But one of the questions I get the most, is the pricing. So I took a screen shot of the pricing. You pick between these 5 prices: The cheaper the better, $50-$100, $100-$150, $150-$200, and $200+

I can’t speak for everyone’s fix but generally the prices for each item in my box have ranged from $30 to $120.

They also ask you what you think of styles from these pictures: Do you love it, like most, like some, or don’t like much at all.

Some of you asked to see my profiles and this is it: I love this!

I like some of these pieces.

I don’t like this much at all. This is way to casual for me.

I don’t like this one either. There are pieces of it that are okay but at first glance it’s not me.

I like most of these (just not the boyfriend jeans). It’s a fun, casual look.

I like most of this look. It’s classic and I like it!

Last but not least, this is the place you check out! This is a screen shot of three of my five items. The price you see is the total of each piece. If I wanted the $32 necklace and that was it, I would pay $12 because they would take the $20 styling fee I paid up front out of that total. $12 would be my final price. Tax and shipping are included in the prices and styling fee. Does that make sense?

Also, you only get a fix when you want it. They have a calendar with the dates available and you pick what works for you. It doesn’t have to be every month.

Whew! I hope this helps, it could be more information than you wanted!

Are there any other questions that you want answered?

  1. Hey Amy,
They can’t usually exchange sizes. You can always email and ask and sometimes they might be able to. But products move in and out very quickly.
    Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I have had one ‘Fix’ and it went great! I was nervous about not liking anything and ‘losing’ the $20. But I did keep two items. Now I am thinking it would have been worth it even if I did not keep any pieces, because I am watching for similar things at TJ Maxx, etc that I returned. Two were a bit off on the fit and one I loved but hubby thought it looked like things already in my closet. I did kind of run around for a couple of days to see if I could find a skirt like the StitchFix one for cheaper, but Nothing came close to the fabric by design or softness! It really was a fun experience!

  3. Hi Cyndi… Do you know the typical wait time if we are on the wait list? I signed up several weeks ago but haven’t heard anything. Excited to try it!

  4. I loved my first two fixes, and purchased all 5 items. A plus is that you get 25% off if you take all5. That makes it much more affordable. I think my average cost was about $170 for all 5 pieces…not too bad. I, too, am on a budget, but made it work. I live on about $500 week, so it isn’t something I can do all of the time. I bought 1 piece from fixes 3 and 4. The stylist was different, so the items weren’t really me. Fix #5 is coming this month, and I hope my original stylist is back. Thanks for sharing Cyndi. 🙂

  5. Hi Kristi,
Sorry you were disappointed with Stitch Fix. It is a little pricey but some people don’t mind paying a little more for a unique piece every once in a while. It’s definitely not for everyone! I’m so glad they refunded your styling fee.
You’re right it is great for bloggers and I do state that I get $25 on my post. Since I write about clothes it has been a help to me!
    Thanks for stopping by!
    Blessings,

  6. Hey Lee Ann,
Yes you can cancel at anytime and you do pay the $20 styling fee each time you decide to get a box.
You do decide when you want your fix.
    I hope that helps!
    Thanks for stopping by!

  7. This is super helpful! Thank you for taking the time to break it down for all of us who have yet to sign up 🙂 I hope to give it a try soon!

  8. Thanks for the tutorial on Stitch Fix. I began using it after seeing it on your blog. I do agree with other comments that it can be a little pricey, but a visit to TJ Maxx just balances it all out! I do have a random question for you!! What did you wear for your children’s weddings???? My daughter is getting married in 18 days. I have a dress, but I am still wondering if it is the right choice. I completely realize no one will be looking at me, but still….. help!!

  9. Yes, it’s $20.00 each time, but it goes towards anything you decide to keep, if nothing fits or you do not like anything, you lose the $20.00. Yes, you decide when to get a ‘fix’ and schedule it online. Yes, you can cancel at any time. The average price of each piece is $75.00, they state this on their site. Hope this helps. :0)

  10. I tried Stitch Fix and was shocked at the prices. We filled out the info, got on the waiting list, and when our box arrived we were so very excited…until we saw the price tags ($48.00-68.00, even a $68.00 scarf, and I had checked the ‘cheaper the better option). The site says their average price per item is $75.00, this was so dissappointing, as Cyndee had said they range from $30.00 on up. They were very kind, refunded my ‘styling fee’ and said they had ‘nothing that would fit my budget’. I can see why many bloggers would promote this site, they get $25.00 to spend everytime someone joins. It’s not meant for those of us who are budget conscious. Hope this helps. :0)

  11. Thanks for the info. I also wondered about pricing. I think it would be fun to try to see what they would pick for me, maybe something I would never choose for myself. But, I’m still leery about it. Do you pay the $20 each time? Do you contact them when you are ready to try for another? And, do you have to stay with it? Can you cancel at any time? Thanks!
