What I Wore-My Style

Happy Hump Day! Thank you so much for all your sweet comments from yesterday’s post. I say it all the time but you all are the kindest readers and I love hearing from each of you!

Today I’m sharing What I Wore not because I’m a fabulous dresser but because as women over 40, we sometimes struggle with what to wear. So I’m just showing you what I wear. I have hits and misses!

I’ve been going through my closet trying to wear shirts I haven’t wore so far this summer. This black top is something I pulled out that I’ve had for several years.

What I Wore-My Style
You can’t see my shoes or the detail in this top so I snapped this picture. It’s not the best picture but you see the ropes on the top and the silver shoes.

What I Wore-My Style

Blank tank top-New York and Company
White ankle jeans-The Limited
Silver bracelet-Stitch Fix
Silver shoes-My daughter gave them to me.

I bought this dress at Francesca’s knowing I would have to put pants under it because it was too short. But the dress has little crosses on it which I thought was perfect for a pastor’s wife. 🙂

Gold earrings-Francesca’s
Denim ankle pants-TJ Maxx
Tan sandals-Francesca’s

Several of you have emailed me about what I wear to work out in. Which got me looking at it and some of it looked bad so I’ve been purchasing some new work out clothes. I don’t spend a lot of money on clothes I’m going to sweat in!

My rule is if I don’t wear something in my closet one season, it has to be given away. Do you aIl do that or do you keep things for years?

Beauty For the Heart~~My husband preached on these verses on Sunday and they were just what I need to hear!

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. “Selah” Psalm 46:1-3

Have a blessed day!

  1. I didn’t know or realize you are a pastor’s wife. Wow… that is a calling all in it’s own category and then to do a fashion ‘blog’ too. Good job.

  2. Cyndi – You look adorable in all the outfits! I love the dress from Francesca’s, I too clean my closet regularly and give clothes I haven’t worn for awhile to my friend – then I see her in them and they look adorable on her! So nice to bless her – but then I always wonder why I got rid of them! 🙂 I have been shopping at Loft this summer and they have such great sales! So fun – blessings to you and to your family in the loss of their home!

  3. I’m with Amber. Sometimes I’m just not feeling something for a season, but if it still fits, it’s staying. Most of my clothes are of a fairly high quality and I’ve zeroed in on necklines that suit me, so if I do replace, it looks just the same! My real problem is finding those styles.
I also wear alot of vintage and my style is my own so I generally just try to shop my closet and “the archives”. (That’s my cedar closet where I store everything winter). I guess incessant clothes shopping keeps our economy going, but the amount of clothing I see being thrown and even donated seems a little wasteful to me.)
I guess I’m really careful with what I buy because I know I’ll keep it!
Disclaimer: I do get rid of some things or put them in the running or rag pile. I had kept some printed jeans, but of course, the fit is all wrong (too high) so they had to go.
P.S. Just turn the front of the metal hanger around.

  4. I started clean eating in June. Actually, I haven’t lost any weight but I think because I feel better I look better. Make sense?
I’m convinced I have more energy!!
    Blessings,
    Cyndi

  5. Your’e so sweet! I hope you get feeling better.
I still think Banana Republic would be a good fit for you. Their end of the summer sales are amazing!!
    Cyndi

  6. I’ll echo the other readers….all of the outfits are really cute. I think the dress with the crosses would work well without anything under it and with flat strappy sandals for a casual event or running errands. 🙂 You look great as usual!!

  7. I love your outfits and the way you present them. The cross dress/top looks great and like you said, perfect for a pastor’s wife 🙂 and I am another one who just loves your hair!

  8. How long have you been doing your clean eating? You look great! I can tell that you’ve lost weight already!!! Good for you! (Not that you needed to!)

  9. I’m pretty good at keeping my closet current. I usually wait for a year and if I haven’t worn something in that time I give it to one of the Christian thrift stores. The black dress with the tiny crosses is really cute 🙂

  10. Hi Cyndi, Once again, you have pulled off 3 fantastic looks. Who looks as cute as that in their workout clothes?!?!?! I LOVE the dress/top over the skinny pants. That outfit just says “YOU” and only you would be creative enough to pair it the way you have with the pants and shoes. That’s my vote for #1! Do you know I have not purchased item one (1) of summer clothing this year?? I have a chronic illness that sets me aside from time to time and I’ve not been at my best since mid-Spring. I’m feeling a little better now and ready to get out a bit. My problem is, summer clothes have been hard shopped and are few and far between. I wear a size XS-S and those sizes always seem to go in a hurry. I was visiting my daughter a couple of weeks ago and there is a Marshall’s where she lives. We ventured in and I came out with zero and it was not for lack of trying! Do you have any suggestions of where I might find something yet or any place where I might find some reasonably priced summer wear? Thanks cutie! Be blessed!

  11. You look cute as always…. I am happy to say I am getting better about going thru my closet and getting rid of stuff I don’t wear anymore! I love that vs in psalms… It speaks Truth to us more than ever it seems … In this day and age. But thankful our God is soo faithful! Sending hugs!

  12. we have a truly small house so the article in article out rule is working nicely. EXCEPT my husband’s side of the closet is still crammed and over crammed. what happened with this rule being followed by him ?? Do not know.

  13. I get rid of clothes too if I haven’t worn them within a year 🙂 I just read that hanger idea on Pinterest and its a great idea ! You look great in all your outfits. Thx fir lways sharing 🙂 blessings for the rest of the summer. Your interns have a wonderful home to stay in 🙂

  14. I have things in my closet from 15 years ago. Some I still wear. lol. Last Fall I decided to get rid of things in my closet. Now when a season comes I turn my hangers around backwards and as I wear an article of clothing the hanger gets turned back right. Now it is easy to see what I have worn and what I have not.

  15. I love the black and white outfit Cyndi! And the cross dress! I don;t tend to hang on to things in my closet. If I don’t wear it, I purge it. I clean out my closet and my daughter’s, several times a year. I should be more selective when it comes to clothing. Perhaps if I purchased fewer items that were more classic, I would hold on to them longer! Susan

  16. Love the subtle idea of the crosses on the dress! I just bought new work out pants yesterday since I joined they Y and actually have to wear them in public… the previous ones were from before the weight loss,,
Good Luck with getting everything ready for your students. So glad that your daughter found out when she did and no one was injured.

  17. You look beautiful Cyndi, even in work out clothes! I usually hang on to things for at least a couple of years, but I think I’m going to implement your rule. It just makes sense…if I don’t like it enough to even wear it once in a season, then it’s time to go! Blessings to you as you prepare for your students’ arrivals.
