Alpha Hydroxy Acid For Mature Skin

Happy Wednesday! Usually I share photos of What I Wore but I realized yesterday, I had not taken one picture. I’m totally fine with not having my picture splashed all over the page today! 🙂

But, I did want to tell you about a product I’ve recently tried. I know most of you are like me, you see those fine lines and wrinkles sneaking up and I’m always looking for a good product to help with my mature skin.

One of the things I’ve read is we need to use alpha hydroxy acid. Alpha hydroxy acid reduces wrinkles and the signs of aging, and improves the overall look and feel of the skin. ( Dr. Oz says this is a must for mature skin if any of you are Dr. Oz fans.)

Alpha Hydroxy Acid For Mature Skin

I’ve recently tried Peter Thomas Roth hydrating gel. It’s ideal for normal to dry, mature, sun-damaged, combination, oily and problem skin types.

Here is what the company claims about this product:

“Peter Thomas Roth hydrating gel supplies lost moisture, anti-oxidants and Glycolic Acid to aging and sun-damaged skin without greasiness or oil. Helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and other signs of aging. Helps clarify the skin and smooth out a rough texture.”

I usually wait and share about products, after I’ve tried them for a few months but I’ve quickly noticed my skin looking better in the morning after using this for just a week.

I use one pump before I go to bed all over my face and neck. If you have sensitive skin, you might need to use it every other night to get your skin use to the product.

I purchased this product at Sephora but if you want to purchase online, Amazon has it here.

Have you all tried any products from Peter Thomas Roth? What about alpha hydroxy acid?

Have a blessed day!

  1. Cyndi, love your blog. I also have had great results with glycolic acid. But I have been using Alpha Hydrox products. Their AHA Soufflé is 12% glycolic acid. A little goes a long way and it was only $14. Don’t forget your hands forearms and throat areas. They get a lot of sun damage each day.

  2. Oh I have been wanting to give this a try. I keep hearing about it. I have to get some asap. Love following you. I am 54 and love that you are around my age. Thanks so much.

    Blessings,

  3. Just received my bottle in the mail and after using it for 2 days, I already see and feel the difference! I put it on and let it dry for a while before putting my moisturizer on. My skin has lost the flakiness and almost looks good enough without make up…almost! I still use a Mary Kay Tinted Moisturizer!

  4. My husband brought home some Peter Thomas Roth hand and body lotion from a hotel. I fell in love with the fragrance and the way it worked! At $18. a bottle, I had to decline a purchase. I use Coconut oil straight off the grocery store shelf. I keep a jar in the shower and after toweling take a tiny scoop and cover my face and neck, then the rest! I am blonde with fair skin and a new senior. I am told I look much younger. I also use real fruit acids for exfoliating. Pineapple juice it is extraordinary! I am inspired by products I purchased in Hawaii over 20 years ago. The women there dont wrinkle and I dont have any wrinkles either. Sunscreen every day!

  5. Sad but true, Ive always taken care of my skin, especially my neck, but darn nature and gravity are winning this battle! lol Thank you for the product suggestion, I will definitely try it out. By the way, I dont mind seeing you and your outfits splashed on your blog! 🙂

  6. Hi Cyndi.

I have not tried this PTR product, but I have tried other products of his and loved them! You can also check out QVC for his products. Sometimes the easy pay helps too.

Hope you have a great evening.

  7. I have the same question. If you’re using multiple products for evening and morning does it matter what sequence they go on?

  8. I do notice a difference when I use it, but I have sensitive skin so I have found not every night for me is best. I have a 5% and a 10%. I only use the 10% once a week. At 63 I am starting to wrinkle in spite of taking care of my skin. A lot has to do with genetics I think.

  9. I’ve been using alpha AND beta hydroxy products since they first appeared on the market years ago. I figured it’s never to early to start and I’m glad I did. A twenty-something male friend just asked what I used on my face to keep my skin so “perfect” without any lines. Of course, I must seem ancient to him and said he should see me without my make-up! Then I spilled the beans on all my secrets. Still, It really made my day!!!
I guess I’ve always used it in some form, from a vinegar splash after washing to a yogurt/honey mask. The results are almost immediate as it helps with cell-turnover.
However, I’m with bonnie, in that I use whatever ever is cheapest (red box) for the same concentration. BTW, if one has sensitive skin, just start with a lower concentration. One can also get higher conentrations by prescription. Glycolic acid works the same way and may be the same thing.
Keep on posting these tips…it’s nice to hear what others are using and learn something new. CTD

  10. I’ve heard of alpha hydroxy acids, but I’ve not tried any of the products. I’ll be eager to hear what you think after you’ve used the product for awhile. Hard to believe you’re already seeing a difference after just a week! Woo hoo!

  11. Thanks for sharing….I will definitely look into it. Although…warning those that want to purchase while it is very convenient to buy on Amazon, you can often find the prices much cheaper other places. For example I purchased the naked eye shadows a month or so ago and amazon was selling for twice the price I found at Ulta:( For those that don’t have these discount stores Amazon is great.

  12. Alpha hydroxy acid works great on my skin. When I first started using it, I realized after a few weeks that I could actually stand to see my face without makeup. I don’t even spring for the expensive stuff, either. Alpha Hydrox products (in red packaging) work great for me.
