Sunday Encouragement-Time Is Precious

This past week has been a reminder for me that time is precious. A 19 year old young man in our community died very suddenly. Although I can’t imagine what his family is going through, I know that they are devastated and so are the many young people who knew him.

Time is Precious

It’s tragic, I have no words that can comfort, no words that will take away the pain. But I do know the only one who can comfort in a time like this, and His name is Jesus.

I cling to Revelation 21:4, “he will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; mourning and crying and pain will be no more, for the first things have passed away.”

Let me encourage you to make today count! Love those around you, and hug them tight. We are not promised tomorrow.

But, if we know Jesus, we are promised heaven and this song reminds me that those loved ones that have gone before us are seeing things that we can’t  imagine.

You Wouldn’t Cry by Mandissa

All you saw was pain
All you saw was rain
But you should see me now
Moments filled with tears
Lasted all those years
Disappeared somehow
You never said goodbye
On your knees you cry
You’re still asking why, but

Blue has never been bluer
True has never been truer
Honey never tasted so sweet
There’s a song in the breeze
A million voices in praise
A rose has never smelled redder
The sun has never been brighter
If I could find the right words to say
If you could look at my face
If you could just see this place
You wouldn’t cry for me today

What you think you see
Isn’t really me
I’m already home
You’ve got to lay it down
‘Cause Jesus holds me now
And I am not alone
Your faith is wearing thin
But I am watching Him
And He’s holding you too, and

[Chorus]

What may seem like years will just be a moment
Oh, the day will come when I’ll show you where you’re going
I can’t wait to show you that

Have a blessed Sunday!

  1. Thank you so much! Your prayers are a blessing all the way from Texas. When I find myself crying over him, I imagine him being with Jesus and all the amazing wonders he is seeing in Heaven.

  2. Cyndi, thank you! What a lovely song and reminder that we need to be grateful because you never know what tomorrow brings. I always feel uplifted when I read your blog.

  3. Prayers from Texas for you, your family, and all who knew and loved your father! I hope that in time God will give you peace, comfort and healing and that He will carry you through the difficult days ahead as you come to terms with your loss.

  4. Thank you for this post, song and scripture. My dad passed away last week unexpectedly and today we will bury him. He was a Godly man, a strong man and a man with a big heart. The hurt is beyond what I could ever imagine, but I know with The Lord we will find comfort .

  5. Beautifully written post today, Cyndi. I was just reading about a Christian couple in Arkansas who lost their two young sons, aged 7 and 9, when a tornado completely tore their home from its foundation. The mom is in one hospital with two broken legs, a broken pelvis, and multiple lacerations on her face and torso. The dad is in a different hospital with traumatic brain injuries. In less than 30 seconds, their entire world changed. You are so right…we do not know what the future holds, so we need to count our blessings now and love each other. I appreciate your reminder to be grateful :).

  6. Good timing for this post. A little first grader down the hall from my classroom lost his mother Thursday night, and her funeral was today. He has a third-grade brother and two younger siblings. His mom was in the hospital two days. May the God of all comfort be with his family and the families of the 19-yr old you mentioned as well as those other readers wrote about.

  7. We lost someone very close to us in the same way. When a child of 19 passes it really tugs at the heart because they had so much ahead of them. Our comfort can only be that he is with God now and has the perfect life/eternity. God Bless and my thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends. Being together with friends and family got us through, hold on tight to those around you.

  8. Amen! I just started re-reading Elizabeth George’s “A Woman After God’s Own Heart” and this is the sentiment she expresses in the first chapter. We just never know when our time will be up, do we? Seize the day!

  9. Good Lord’s Day Cyndi. I’ve never heard that song but love Mandissa. It’s lovely. I’ve said many times the worst thing for a parent to go through is the loss of a child. At our church in the last few months, a young family lost their 14 month old son to SIDS. Really they found no cause of death so called it SIDS. To make it worse, another adult church member was baby sitting the little boy when he died. She thought he was just sleeping since it was late at night. You can imagine the agony many are going through. Even still, we know God is in control and He can do wonderous things bringing good from bad. Cease not praying and praise Him through all circumstances. God does bring healing,
