Anti-Aging Skin Care Products

A few weeks ago I shared the Alpha Hydrox Skin Care line with you. I’ve been using it for over a month, and I’m still very pleased with the products. Today I’m comparing Alpha Hydrox with Peter Thomas Roth.

Here are a few thinks I like about Alpha Hydrox.

  • Alpha Hydrox skin care products have been featured on Oprah, Dr. Oz and numerous other national television programs because of their ability to actually improve your skin.
  • It gets great reviews from people who use it.
  • It’s very reasonably priced!

I looked at some more of the products they offer and I realized they have an Intensive Serum with 14% glycolic acid.

Anti-Aging Skin Care Products

Glycolic acid is a very powerful acid. It exfoliates dead skin cells without abrasives, improves skin’s tone, texture & firmness and leaves skin radiant & glowing.

I’ve also mentioned Peter Thomas Roth hydrating gel. I used this product and loved it! This hydrating gel has 10% glycolic acid.

Anti-Aging Skin Care Products

The big difference in these two products is the price! The Alpha Hydrox Intensive Serum (which has more glycolic acid) is much less expensive!

Alpha Hydrox Intensive Serum is $18.99 but is on sale at Ulta right now for $14.24.

Peter Thomas Roth is $48.00!

That’s a huge price difference! I’ve used both of these products and I really like the Intensive Serum just as well as the hydrating gel.

If you have very sensitive skin, you might not be able to use a glycolic acid. You can start with once a day and then build up to twice a day.

Skin freshly exfoliated with glycolic acid treatment may appear sunburned, at first. There may even be some discomfort. Always follow with a moisturizer.

If you’re interested in purchasing the Alpha Hydros Intensive Serum, you can co here.

Have you tried either product? Do you think you have to pay more to get good skin care products?

  1. I have used the Alph Hydrox from Ulta and liked it,I have been ordering Makeup Artist Choice on line MUAC products that have the alpha hydroxy in it and can tell a difference in skin tone and and texture, and use the at home acid peels from MUAC, I am in my 50’s and have a lot of sundamage….wish I had listened to my mom about the sun.I have had Botox and fillers in the past but just can’t get past the idea of that being a temporary solution and not to mention the cost.

  2. Just wondering what happened to the Rodan and Fields line that you were using….did you discontinue? and why?

    1. Hey Kelly, Like everyone else, I’m always on the look out for a great skin care line.
The one thing that I’m becoming more aware of is the chemicals that are in skin care products. That’s why I’m using Young Living products.
I tried Rodan & Fields and I didn’t see any real results so I couldn’t justify the price. I hope that helps!

  3. In simple words, fashion illustration gives a
freedom to the artist to put forward the
fashion designs and ideas in front of the entire world.
Instead try a nice pair of wool or cotton chino dress trousers with
a button down shirt, sweater vest, tie, and sport jacket.
Perhaps you are a model who wants to expand your portfolio with a range of startling shots that show off your versatility and individual flair.

  4. Lee Ann this product can sting. I would recommend using it gradually at first. If you have sensitive skin they may not work. Wish I could be more help!!
    Blessings,

  5. I might have to check these out. I have been thinking about looking into products that are anti-aging. I’m 30 but I’ve definitely got wrinkles!! THanks for sharing!

  6. These products can sting a bit, especially at first. I would try using at night, and probably not even every night at first, and see how it goes. Also you might want to look for the lowest concentration of acids to start with.

  7. Thanks again for mentiong these products. I had used them religiously 15-20 yrs ago when they first hit the market, but haven’t seen them in stores for a few years. Good to know they’re still available. I’m currently using equate’s neutrogena dupe with spf. It’s wonderful for a daytime moirturizer, but I do like the higher percentaes for night-time.
I’d love to know what generic prescription $10 cream Teresa uses. CTD

  8. Btw I’m a natural redhead with fair sensitive skin. I had to start with applying acid product at night every third night and slowly increase frequency as I could tolerate it.

  9. I have used both and like them both and currently use a generic prescription cream which is cheaper for me at just $10. I have learned price doesn’t equal quality or effectiveness. I say always go for the least expensive choice as long as you like it. It’s like buying generic medication vs name brand when they both work the same. Name brand price is paying for the name. On rare occasion I find name brand is better but don’t think just because it costs more it is better. My dermatologist recommended instead of putting moisturizer on after applying the acid or retinol product, just mix it in the palm of your hand with about a pea size of moisturizer. Blend it well and apply to face/ neck.

  10. I have used Alpha Hydrox products and love them. Not Peter a Thomas Roth because of $$.

You mentioned using moisturizer afterwards. Always use sunscreen if going outdoors because I believe these products may make your skin more photosensitive.

    Love your skin care reviews.

  11. Do you know if these products would be OK for sensitive skin? The drug store brands I use will occasionally cause my face to get red and hot, swell, and make my face feel like it’s on fire.
