Sunday Inspiration

Happy first day of June! Wayne and I are not only back from New York but we’re back from his sabbatical. Today, we’re headed back to our church. I’ve missed our church family and can’t wait to worship with them today.

Last Sunday, Wayne and I worshipped at The Brooklyn Tabernacle. We’ve been there before and to be honest, unless you go, it’s hard to explain.

I don’t think I can adequately describe what worship is like at The Tab (that’s what they call it).

Sunday Inspiration

The choir is amazing and if you’ve ever read anything about the choir, the testimonies that many of them have are unbelievable.

On the flight home, I read Carol Cymbala’s book, He’s Been Faithful. It’s an easy read but she shares several testimonies from the people at The Brooklyn Tabernacle.

She also shares about the choir’s purpose, “Our ministry is to lead people to an encounter with Jesus Christ. For us, performance would be a giant step down.”

Believe me, you can tell they’re not performing. They mean the words they are singing.

If you ever have the opportunity to go to the church, I highly recommend it!

Of course, I thought I’d share a song from The Brooklyn Tabernacle choir. I love this song. No matter what comes our way in this life, let’s not lose our praise!

I’ve lost some good friends along life’s way
Some loved ones departed in Heaven to stay
But thank God I didn’t lose everything
I’ve lost faith in people who said they care
In the time of my crisis they were never there
But in my disappointment in my season of pain
One thing never wavered one thing never changed

CHORUS
I never lost my hope
I never lost my joy
I never lost my faith
But most of all
I never lost my praise

I’ve let some blessings slip away
When I lost my focus and went astray
But thank God i didn’t lose everything
I’ve lost possessions that was so dear
And I’ve lost some battles by walking in fear
But in the midst of my struggle, in the season of pain
One thing never wavered, one thing never changed

CHORUS
I never lost my hope
I never lost my joy
I never lost my faith
But most of all
I never lost my praise

Have a blessed Sunday!

  1. Thank you for sharing this inspiring song. My church has been going through 1 Thessalonians and our pastor has been highlighting Christians around the world that are currently being persecuted for their faith. This song reminds me of those precious brothers and sisters in Christ!

  2. Cyndi, I am still jealous of your attending Brooklyn. Tabernacle. I would also love to attend their Tuesday night prayer meeting. And I read Carol’s book years ago and loved it. The stories of some of those choir members are amazing.

I hope Wayne was able to recharge a little bit during this time and was happy to be back in his pulpit today.

  3. How wonderful that you’ve had time away… and that you went to Brooklyn Tab! Our good friends minister there, too – Tim & Cindy Dilena.
They were instrumental in God directing us to Detroit exactly 10 years ago this weekend to plant a church! No doubt your time there was fantastic!
Praying that your time away was exactly what God intended for you both and that your transition back to your calling is sweet & smooth!

  4. Amazing video! It is now at the top of my bucket list to see the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir and praise and worship in this house with them at least once. Thank you for sharing!

  5. What a beautiful song! I love how you said they’re not just performing, but they mean what they sing! It’s easy to get caught up with just words, so loved how you put! I’m sure your church family was glad to have you both back 🙂

  6. I hope we can go there – it’s on my “bucket list” =0)
Have you ever seen the dvd “My House Shall be a House of Prayer” – or close to that – from a teaching he did at a conference for church leaders. It is so powerful. We have watched it and shared it with our class and friend, and I cry every time I listen to it.
Have a blessed Sunday and thank you so much for “taking us with you” to the Tab =0)

  7. The voices of angels, for sure. It made my heart feel extra good to see how many young(er) people were in the choir. Thanks for sharing.

  8. Cyndi,
Thank you for sharing that beautiful song. All I can say about that tremendous choir is WOW!–it is bigger than our entire congregation! I agree–you can tell they mean every single word and it is not a performance. Have a blessed Sunday!
