Be Still And Know That He Is God

Do you ever feel like life is flying by? If you’re like me, your days are filled with a “to do” list.

Whether it’s work outside the home, or work at home. My list is long and every item on the list is not always checked off by the time I lay my head down on my pillow at night.

One day of the week I go to my daughter’s home to babysit Colt. Cici and Colt are “tight,” as we like to call it.

He’s so much fun! But some days I feel like all I do is drag that sweet boy all over town trying to get all my stuff done.

Be Still And Know That He Is God
Oh we take time to feed the ducks, and we read books, and we usually go somewhere and grab a bite to eat. But by the time his nap time rolls around, we’re both wiped out!

As soon as he goes down for a nap, I start answering emails, editing photos, sharing posts on social media and the list goes on. It never ends.

This past week as I was walking late in the evening and listening to some praise and worship music, a song came on from Steven Curtis Chapman. It was simply, Be still and know that He Is God.

Be Still And Know That He Is God

As I was walking, I felt God saying, Cyndi, Be still. Not just physically but mentally. Not just when I’m having my quiet time with the Lord but even when I’m with Colt. Be still.

Are you all with me? As women, we are multitaskers. We take pride in the fact that we can do many things at one time. But we need to be still, physically and mentally.

So this week, I want to slow down and enjoy the simple moments. I want to Be Still And Know That He Is God!

Do you ever feel you need to be still? Do you feel like life is flying by?

Have a blessed day!

  1. When we obey and. “Be still, I’m actually treating myself to be in HIS presence. Because He has my attention and I can hear from Him. WOW!

Thank you for this wonderful reminder of our Father!
    One of my favorite songs!

Be still and know that he is
    Be still and know

    Be.
    Prayers Janet

  3. Cyndi you are so darn cute. I stumbled on your blog a little while ago thru pinterest I believe. I love reading your blog and always look forward to your posts. This post definitely hit home. Earlier I was writing my planner out for the week and just didn’t have enough time in the day to get everything done. I don’t think finding your blog was a coincidence. Thank you for the reminder. It doesn’t matter if the house doesn’t get cleaned or all of the laundry doesn’t get done, what’s important is spending time with God.

  4. I agree! We need to treasure the moments before we are looking back and wishing we had! And, being still more often will allow us to do just that. That is one of my favorite verses.

  5. “Be still and know that I AM God!” What an invitation from God Himself…His gift to us anytime, day or night! Thank you Father!

  6. I really appreciate the way you bring out that stillness is an inner quality and not merely reflected through our outer activities! This was a great reminder to me today to continue to cultivate that inner “stillness” or attentiveness to God no matter what the circumstances of my life look like at the moment.

  7. We had shocking news this past week. We knew our family would be growing in April but my son called Thursday from the ultra sound to tell us there were 2 heartbeats! All he has done is laugh. I’m not sure if it’s to keep from crying with already having a 2 year old daughter. I told them that it’s going to be ok and they are so blessed to have 4 grandparents so close to help out. They have planned out their life and everything has gone accordingly until this news. I think God has a funny sense of humor. 🙂 I will share this verse with them because I’m sure they will need to refer to it many times in the months to come. We are thrilled about 2 more babies! Double blessings!

    1. I’m an identical twin with a sister just under one year older and a brother 1 1/2 yrs older than her. It’s the best!!! Sure, it’s a lot of work but still a huge blessing!

  8. “Still” is my word for this year. Oh my! If I had know what was in store for me when I chose this word I might have chosen another word. However, through every thing I’ve been through God continually reminds me to “be still” and remember that He IS God and IS in control of everything in my life. It might not seem like it at the time but when things shake out you can see where He was definitely in control the entire time. Yes “be still and know that I am God.”

  9. I do feel like this a lot. Especially working a full-time busy job. About 75% of my time is spent there so making the other 15% a priority has become vitally important to keep my self from plummeting into deep depression. In addition, I have 2 nieces growing up (they are 9 and 11 yrs) that I need to be more of an Aunt to. They’re not going to be little forever and I know that the Lord is prompting to me to get more involved in their lives. Especially to shed a godly perspective onto worldly views. Furthermore, I have a 19 yr old nephew that needs to know I am always an ear if he needs me to listen. Know what I mean?

  10. Cyndi,
We let life overwhelm us so thanks for reminding us that we do need to be still and talk to God everyday. Thanks for all your inspiration posts.
