8 Fall Outfits To Inspire You

I’ve been looking at some fall styles that I would like to add to my fall wardrobe. I thought I’d share some fall outfits to inspire you.

8 Fall Outfits To Inspire You

I love this simple look. Black pants, loafers and a sweater.

If you like to wear dresses, add a wrap dress to your wardrobe. They’re flattering on almost all shapes.

Vests! I’m seeing them everywhere but if you can have a leopard print vest, that’s a win win.

Jackets are popular and also this wine color.

Another vest but it’s fur. You’ll see lots of faux fur this fall and winter.

Classic outfits like this one are still going strong. The pointed toe heel is also popular which I love!

Moto jackets and floral is a great combo.

Stop. I’m not wearing overalls. I’ve seen them several places but they’re not for me. ( You have it in writing, if I wear a pair, please refer me back here. )

  1. I think anyone can rock any trend if it fits correctly …. Overalls too…the right shoe , top, scarf .

  2. Love all the outfits, but I have to agree no one over 40 should wear overalls, really no one who is not 0-16. I love the loafers and block sweater but what I love is boots. I love the cold so I can wear my fun leather boots/booties and shooties. Love it. Thanks for all your 30 days of outfits too. They all look great.

  3. Overalls…. NOOOOOO, why in the world are these coming back? Unless you are actually a farmer….no, maybe not even then! On the other hand, the wrap dress-perfection, so flattering! Ei-ei-oooooooooh!

  4. I agree with you and the many others that commented, overhalls not for me, and not for women over 40. I remember wearing them when I was in Jr. High, when they were in “style” back in the late 70’s. And then in the 90’s I wore them again when I was pregnant with my last child. My third trimester was during the hot summer months and into a very hot Sept. then into a cold snap. Not wanting to buy more clothes for an overdue pregnancy, basically all I had to wear where these overalls. Looking back at pictures, I was huge, and the overalls where comfortable but I didn’t know how horrible I looked. Had a 9 lb 2oz baby on Oct.1. Will never where overalls again!!! Saying that, I can see one of my fashionista daughters (ages 16 to 20) wearing them. Uhgg!

  5. My style is pretty classic and conservative, so I’m usually immune to trends, but I fell HARD for the leopard print coat with blue in it that the LOFT has this fall. I managed to get it last weekend for less than half price thanks to some great coupons combined with my educator discount. Now I just have to get up the nerve to wear it! Having never owned an animal print garment in my entire life, this is a big step for me, but I can think of so many ways to wear it, dressed up or down. Now if I can just find some of the black ankle pants that actually fit and come somewhere near my actual ankles! Thanks for this very helpful roundup of what’s in this fall – I see several ideas I plan to check out.

  6. Hey I have a pair of overall’s…But I refuse to wear them.

I adore that wine colored jacket, I’m going to have to check out some of my retro clothing I think I have one hiding somewhere.I also think the fashion this fall is casual but yet looks pulled together.

  7. This is sooo funny. Overalls are not for me. I do have a cousin in her 50’s that love them…yikes!
Love the leopard vest, but a bit pricey ;-). Thx for sharing this post 🙂

  8. Yeah, I’m pretty sure overalls come under that “if you wore them the first time, sit it out the second time around” rule! I’ll resist with you Cyndi. But I love the skinny black ankle pants with the simple sweater and black loafers. And I’m so glad that animal prints are not only sticking around but actually experiencing somewhat of a revival 🙂

  9. Overalls? Some things just need not be worn in public for women over 40 and this is one of them! In fact, I don’t believe I would wear them if I lived in a cave and the light of day never saw me! They would however, look darling on my 5 year old granddaughter with a pink sparkly top! 😉

  10. I think we all agree- NO OVERALLS!! I have never liked them except Halloween for a costume party. Love vests. Ready to find a cute one but not too heavy for Savannah.

  11. Phew! Cyndi, you almost had me going for a minute there when I first saw the overalls! You are so funny… Thank you for the laugh today… I needed it:) I love all the other styles you’ve featured and even think my very very thin 19 year old daughter would look cute in the overalls:) Blessings Krista

  12. No way would I wear overalls!! I did that about twenty years ago, never again! I am loving the fur vest in leopard print as that animal print is never going out of style! The jackets are nice too and I’m a fan of the floral pants! May have to add a couple of these items to my budget shopping list!

  13. Oh heavens…the overalls. I keep seeing them pop up and I will NEVER do this trend. Been there, done that, and I’m not going back.

  14. Haha, I just saw overalls at Target yesterday and thought that I wished they had been there when I was dressing for farmer day at my school (I’m a 1st grade teacher) last spring. I had a pair about 12 years ago, but don’t think I’ll be revisiting it.

  15. I won’t be doing that trend either. I did buy my daughter a pair this week and she looks super cute in them with a pair of booties, but she’s 23. I believe that is the age group that this trend should be for, not us 40 somethings. 🙂 I always say just because they have your size doesn’t mean you wear it.

  16. I’m a country girl and not TOTALLY against some cute overalls in the right setting – dressing it with heels and jewels is silly.

~I need help finding a nice basic white blouse. Full length sleeves, slightly fitted (feminine cut), collar… Why so hard to find?

        1. Just noticed the Chico’s white blouse is on sale, 20% off, for $60. I don’t usually spend that much but it’s a wardrobe staple that goes with everything!

  17. I finally got rid of my overalls from a phase when I just loved them…I had actually hung on to them in case we needed to make a scarecrow … =0)
I really like the floral pants and moto jacket with the heels…so sleek
Thanks for a fun start to Friday!

    1. That’s actually one of my “rules”–if you wore it the first time around, you should probably sit it out when it comes back in style.

  18. I love fur vests and funny I found a reversible one that has animal print thrifting off season , so am chomping at the bit to wear it..
I’ve been debating the floral pants as I love pattern and getting it in bottoms is wonderful!
These are all inspiring options, except the overalls , not for me either, Perhaps we could leave that one for the younger generation?

  19. Whew! That was a close one! Lol when I saw the overalls on the top post I thought “That isn’t Cyndi’s style!” 🙂 That is definitely one trend I’m going to skip also.
