31 Days of Fall Fashion (Day 30)

Good morning! It’s Day 30 of my 31 Days of Fall Fashion and all I can think to say is, Yeehaw!

In case some of you aren’t from the south, yeehaw is an interjection expressing joy or exuberance. And I’m pretty joyful that I’m finishing up this 31 days of fall fashion.

Okay, I feel this post needs some explaining. I pinned this picture because I like it. This lady exudes coolness. Don’t you think?

31 Days of Fall Fashion (Day 30)

Some people can pull that off so easy and then others of us, well, let’s just say we’re not that cool. Ask my kids, they’ll amen that in a heartbeat!

I try to tell them there was a time in my life that I was cool. You know, before kids.

I drove a light blue pinto car in high school for heaven’s sake and it had a big silver foot in the floorboard to change the lights on bright. Seriously, could I have been any cooler??

Well, somewhere along the way I lost the cool gene. I’m okay with that but every once in a while I try to pull it off and that’s where my outfit comes in.

I was trying to copy the picture above, sort of. I’m wearing a black graphic tee. I added my gap boyfriend cardigan and some ankle boots but it’s not working for me.

31 Days of Fall Fashion (Day 30)

That’s what I get for trying to copy a picture of a cool girl. No fear, I’m just running some errands today and working at home. I’ll pretend I’m cool. 🙂

One of my favorite tips for women over 40 is don’t be so matchy matchy. Matchy matchy ages us. Some times I pull this off better than others.

Today wasn’t great but I’m still okay with it. It’s fun to try new things. Step out of your comfort zone!!

Do you struggle with trying to be matchy matchy?

Beauty For the Heart~~If there’s ever a time of year that I see God’s beauty, it has to be fall. The colors of all the trees here in Kentucky are breathtaking.

I kind of feel God is showing off and it makes me smile. His handiwork is amazing. So today I’ll share a psalm because it just seems appropriate.

Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. Psalm 145:3

Have a blessed day friends!

  1. Cyndi, I too like your outfit and think it lions great. Isn’t that just typical, that those fi.ez that I don’t feel pulled together or pushed, that others cimlinent me!

  2. I love your outfit, a put together errand day perfect look. I am going to copy you with my leopard flats and maybe a plain or striped T. I adore your scarf and the way you tied it. I think I am in the minority on the ankle boot trend, just not loving it for myself. It is actually going to get cool here in Florida this weekend, and I will be going out in my version of your inspiration, thank you 🙂

  3. Hi Cyndi, If I was 22 years old, I would absolutely wear the model’s outfit. I think it’s very cool and doesn’t look like she tried too hard. I happen to like thatkind of look. I can’t get away with that look any more..at all. But, your outfit mirrors that casual “just thrown together look” with polish. I think as we get older we need more polish, we need to look a little more like we put soe thought into what we put on ourselves. You’ve accomplished that, marvelously!

  4. Personally, I don’t think even the model looks “cool” in that outfit. (She doesn’t even look happy with it herself! LOL!). I’m not sure what’s bothering you about your outfit though–I like it. Casual, comfy but still stylish. Maybe untuck the tee and see what you think?

  5. Your outfit is very cool! I actually like a more polished look like yours, rather than the look of the model. I am very matchy matchy, and your blog has helped me step out of that box. Thank you for the outifts this month. You are an inspiration to so many of us. The fall colors are always a reminder of God’s goodness. I try to savor them before the wind blows it all away.

  6. The model IS cool, I agree Cyndi. But you are too cool for school in YOUR outfit. Seriously, I like both. If I were tall and about 12 years old 🙂 I would definitely try to go for the model’s look. But being a little more on the short side and pushing at sixty very hard I am definitely going to try a trendy tee, cardigan, and jeans. I believe I will rock the outfit, much like you are!

  7. You don’t feel good in that outfit? I think you look adorable. I keep trying to wear boyfriend sweaters and I know they are stylish. However, I feel frumpy in them…doesn’t feel very flattering on my pear shape. Do you feel that way?

  8. The model looks ridiculous. Who really looks like that in real life? You look cute. I don’t think you missed it. I don’t know if us over forty gals should be trying to be “cool” but you’ve succeeded at a casual outfit.

  9. I love this look, Cyndi! I think you look cool! 😉 It’s super relaxed, yet super chic! It would be a great traveling outfit –and I agree for running errands as well. But you ALWAYS look cute! Thanks so so much for 31 Days of Fall Fashion!! I loved every bit of it. Can’t wait for the fashion challenge! 😀

  10. I don’t care for the outfit you pinned at all, especially for someone over 40. I think she just looks sloppy and messy. I much prefer your outfit, though I do agree with another suggestion that you try a lighter shade of jean – maybe that would help you feel the outfit all comes together better. Thank you for sharing all your outfits for the month.

  11. You look adorable today Cindi! I love your honestly and that makes you real, and being real IS cool! I love the Fall colors also. God just puts His beauty out there for us to marvel in and enjoy every day! He can’t be anything or anyone else but the true beautiful God that He is! Therefore, we need to put our beauty out there as well but for His glory, then shine as the beautiful woman He created in us! Happy day to you and to all!

  12. I’m 63 and I say you are VERY cool!!! I love your outfit. I’m finally getting on board with trying to not be matchy matchy in home decorating – my decorator friend who is helping me in this regard tells me not to think back to the day of dressing my son in Garanimals where you wore a certain shirt with certain pants – ha!!!

  13. I love your outfit and I struggle with the matchy matchy all the time. I love to see what outfits you have for us and it helps me to style different things.

  14. I like your outfit, not as edgy as hers maybe but it works on you. Try a longer cardigan or a camel/darker shade next time but you look great. Cool just as in beauty I believe is in the eye of the beholder!

  15. I too, always try to be matchy matchy, that’s why I love looking at other’s fashion photos so I can find ways to be less matchy!! HaHa, I think your look today works great for running errands/casual day! I do also think that maybe a striped or other patterned t vs a graphic t might bring it all together even better.

  16. You look adorable as usual Cindi! I also appreciate all your time and energy putting together this months outfits. I always look forward to seeing your sweet face and reading your Beauty for the Heart! The yee haw made me smile since I just taught my 2 year old Granddaughter to say it! You can take a Southern girl out of the South but you can’t take the southern out of the girl!

  17. Yep, I grew up in the age of matchy-matchy. And it is a hard rule to learn to break. I try to mix, but my default is match. I figure if it matches, at least I know it works together. But exactly how DO I learn what GOES TOGETHER and what doesn’t when it doesn’t match? Fear of getting it wrong and looking clueless (like I am) keeps me from stepping out of my comfort zone.

  18. Oh Cyndi, how could your kids NOT think you weren’t cool! If I could look and dress like you “I” would really feel cool and I’m sure your kids think you are too!! I agree that would maybe switch out the graphic tee for something else but then maybe that’s where stepping out of your comfort zone comes in. I’m one of those that thinks everything has to match(hence why I’m not cool). Enjoyed your outfit post but don’t blame you for being ready for it to be over. Now you can concentrate on yours and Allisons challenge. That plus your not will keep you very busy. Loved the kids outfits!

    1. Hey Leen,
I think it was the boots for me. I love the ankle boot but I might have liked black better.
I wore the outfit all day so it wasn’t so bad that I changed. 🙂
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  19. I just want to say Thank you! for all the hard work you put into your blog. I found you on Pinterest and pinned many of your outfits to my board. That lead me to your blog and I have so enjoyed everything you share. It’s very entertaining and inspirational. I love it!

  20. I love your blog and so happy I found you. I am also of “older” generation. I wore ankle boots for the first time yesterday – almost afraid to walk out of my house, but I did and enjoyed all the compliments I got. My grandmother was in the fashion industry and I have a lot of “do’s” and “don’ts” still in my head. Thanks for a great blog !!

    1. I also bought some ankle boots inspired by Cyndi and I too haven’t worn them out in public yet……hopefully I will this next week and embrace the compliments like you did!!

  21. I think you look very cool, Cyndi! Coolness is all about confidence, and you are a confident, lovely gal … oh-so-cool!

  22. much happier with your outfit than the one of the girl with attitude. I am not sure what her attitude is all about.
thanks for the cute shot of Colt with his friend and costumes.
I am going to be very sad to see the special daily outfits. however, they have been there in the past just maybe not with the same emphasis.
it is always sad to see October go. it is such a beautiful month wherever one lives in this country even when we do not have the colors. the sunrises and sunsets are just gorgeous.

  23. I would maybe try a cardigan with a little more “flow” to it. Otherwise I think you look really nice. I am kicking myself for not buying some booties at the end of season last year! Found a pair in a neutral shade for under $20 and they were a good brand, uggghhhh!
