31 Days Of Winter Fashion-Day 1

Happy New Year! Today I’m taking down my Christmas tree and my Christmas decorations. Sigh.

Does anyone enjoy this task? It’s nice to get everything cleaned up but man do I dislike taking it all down. My house always looks so bare!

Anyway, it’s January 1 so that means I’m starting my 31 Days of Winter Fashion!

WinterFashion
Last fall I shared this blouse from LOFT with you. I liked it….but something was missing.

31 Days Of Winter Fashion-Day 1

I recently pulled it out and wore it with my fringe scarf from Target. I’m in love with this scarf. It’s warm and soft and it’s a scarf, enough said.

31 Days Of Winter Fashion-Day 1

This whole outfit is so comfortable that I wore it three times in one week. Don’t worry it was to different places. I finally said enough!

Several of my pictures turned out like this. The wind was blowing (as always) and yes it is cold!

31 Days Of Winter Fashion-Day 1
I’m sporting some big hair today. Why not begin the new year with big hair right?? Ha!

I recently ordered these jeans from NordstromWit & Wisdom Stretch Skinny Jeans. Why, you ask?

Sheaffer from Pinterest Told Me To said they are must have jeans. I got sucked in and ordered them. That must have gets me every time! I think a lot of women have ordered them because they only have size 8 and under left.

Anyone else taking down Christmas decorations today?

I’d love for you to connect with me on your favorite social media platform. I’m on FacebookInstagram and Pinterest!

  1. Hi Cyndi,
I scrolled back to find this post of you wearing the black fringe scarf from Target. I had purchased one but not understanding how to wear it. It’s a big scarf. Do you fold it first? BTW, this outfit is gorgeous on you! Thanks so much.

  2. I agree, Cyndi–the scarf makes the outfit!
I have decided to take my decorations down in increments. I intend to have my trees down by the end of January–maybe I won’t feel Christmas withdrawal so much. It really is my favorite time of year. Happy New Year to all, and
    God Bless!

  3. Love the scarf. I understand about taking down Christmas, easy to put it up. Seems to take so long to take down and clean it up. Since everything looks so bare, I started decorating with snowman things. It fits for January, it’s easy to find, and fun! Happy January!!!

  4. Aw yes, time to take down the Christmas decorations and get cleaned up and organized again! UGH!! It’s sad because I do love the Christmas season and all its fullness! Have a blessed 2015!

  5. Love the outfits so far as always. Love the scarf!!! I will be keeping my tree up until next week Jan 5th. To be honest it’s just pretty to look at and it’s kinda sad when it has to all be packed back up. 🙁 I LOVE CHRISTMAS!! ) AND… I think we put it off until it absolutely has to be done. Blessings to everyone for an awesome year ahead of us.

  6. We don’t like to take our Christmas decorations down before Christmas is over. We leave ours up until the twelfth day of Christmas – January 5th. Thank you Cyndi for all the great fashion and beauty tips. Looking forward to your 31 days of fashion this month.

    1. I’m with you Judy. What ever happened to the twelve days of Christmas here in America? It seems we’re so anxious to shop for Xmas, opening stores on Thanksgiving, but can’t wait to clear it all out practically the day after. We celebrate until the 6th and exchange presents everyday. It also helps take the pressure off doing everything all on one day and lets us focus on the reason for the entire season. (This isn’t to diss those that DO take it all down early.)
I’m looking for to your posts this month.

I think attention spans have shrunk. (I don’t mean any diss to you, Cyndi.)

  7. The tree came down today and the Christmas tree dishes are packed away. I need to still put away the Christmas placemats, etc. I am going to leave the string of star lights up in the bedroom window for at least a few weeks since it is so dark and gloomy out.

  8. happy new year, well I have an excuse not to take the little bit of decorating we did this year. we rarely have part of the family available on THE SPECIFIC DAY due to divorce. so whatever day we are together is the right day. well, my hsb and I threw a monkey wrench into things and caught the ugliest bug. so. until everyones schedule can be arranged the decorations remain. and it seems the after busyness of preparations is the best time to enjoy the lights etc.

I know this is not a foodie blog but I would love to know what your New Years Day meal is and is it traditional year after year ??

    1. Thanks for the suggestion of ideas that you would love to read…. I’ll see what I can round up and get posted! Happy New Year! -Cyndi

  9. Hey Cyndi girl!! That scarf was made to go with that blouse! It’s amazing how something as simple as a black scarf with fringe can take a cute but simple blouse and turn it into an outright fashion piece! I guess that’s why we need creative women like you to show us how to “see” clothing items and put them together fabulously. BTW, we need you for MUCH more than that. My hubs likes to leave our tree and decs up for the twelve days of Christmas, so we have a few days yet before it all comes down. We don’t decorate until the third week of December, so I am never tired of it when it comes time to put it away. You’re right though, the house does look bare.

      1. This post inspired me to purchase these Wit & Wisdom jeans (or jeggings?) – after all, who couldn’t use more wit or wisdom in her life? I appreciate Cyndi’s comparison to LOFT sizing, since I know I’m a curvy 8 in LOFT. I ordered both a 6 and an 8 in these. The 8’s arrived yesterday and seem to fit perfectly, even in the waist, so I am very thankful for the recommendation. I may even cancel the 6’s, which are back-ordered for a week or two. But I need to hear from Cyndi or anyone else who bought these – do they stretch out during wearing? Also, do they shrink after washing? Mine are completely perfect right now, and I don’t really want to go any tighter with them at my age, but don’t want to need suspenders to keep them up by mid-afternoon, either. Cyndi, thanks for sharing these with us – I would never have noticed them on Nordstrom’s website without your tip. They may be too thin for the winter we’re having in north Texas this year, but I can’t wait to wear them in warmer months when regular jeans can be too hot! I learn so much reading your posts – good for both my wardrobe and my soul.

  10. We took the tree down today too and all the outside decorations and lights. The house does look bare but so nice and clean too. A nice way to start the New Year. Blessings to all for a wonderful New Year!!

  11. We took ours down yesterday. I’m glad it’s done but I detest doing it. I start dreading it right after I finish decorating. HA! And, Pinterest Told Me To gets me all too often. LOL!
    Happy New Year!

  12. Cyndi, I agree with you about things looking so bare after all the decorations are gone. As for your big hair, every southern girl should have big hair every once in a while! lol. Happy New Year!

  13. I’m a hairdresser & one of my clients just told me about your website, now I’m totally addicted ! Dillards had a huge sale today & with some ideas I got from your site, I’ve revamped my look ! Thank you & can’t wait too see whats next !

  14. Happy New Year! I love the tweaking of this look by adding the scarf. A long necklace works well to as anytime we can add a vertical line , it’s a good thing, especially for those of us nearing menopause or older…

  15. Love your outfits. I live in ontario and was wondering if you had any outfits for winter coats boots and hats

  16. CUTE outfit. Happy New Year! I’m looking forward to seeing your outfits this month. Do you ever wear a straighter wider cut pant? it seems you mostly wear skinny pants. I commented on another post that I just can’t get used to the skinny pants on me. I’m not that heavy (definitely more pear shaped ) and I feel like a sausage.

  17. Cindy, I love your posts & your outfits! So great to get ideas on how to look fashionable & classy! Thank you so much ❤️

  18. Hi Cindy! I have a blouse on the order of your Loft one and never realized a scarf would look great with it, thanks! Thanks also for your talks of Jesus and your mom, always enjoy your posts! Happy New Year!

  19. Just finished taking down our real tree, what a mess, but I prepare myself mentally so my OCD doesn’t rear its ugly head

  20. Did you order a size down in the jeans as the site suggested? I have them in my cart but just can’t imagine ordering a smaller size…..

  21. Cyndi, Happy New Year from Texas! Like you, I’m taking down most of Christmas today, but last year I came up with an idea to make the transition easier. I hit my local craft store’s bargain bin after Christmas and picked up some artificial evergreen branches that look like they are covered in ice. After taking down all of Christmas from the mantle, now I replace it with these icy branches, a string of white lights woven through them, and some of the “diamond dusted” pine cones I made for my daughter’s wedding reception last year. It’s “winter” but not full on “Christmas” and makes for an easier transition back to the everyday bare mantle. I leave a few of my angels and white candles from the Christmas display, and it looks really pretty. I also leave my Nativity set up through Epiphany, so I can enjoy it for a few more days.

Love the LOFT top with the scarf for a winter look! When you first posted that blouse in the fall, I immediately bought it for my daughter and she loved it. She’s now three months pregnant, but still able to wear the top so far, and I’m going to show her the scarf idea in hopes that she can get some more wear out of it before the baby bump really starts to show. Thanks for both the outfit ideas and the spiritual inspiration throughout the year – you truly are a blessing!

    1. I love your idea of the icy greens and I may now string some lights on my mantel after i take everything else down next week.

  22. I have a fashion question….are blazers still in style? I have a closet full and am wondering if it is time to get rid of them. Always have worn them with jeans, but I am not seeing them around much. Would love your opinion.
    Thanks

    1. Here in north Texas (Dallas area) you still see blazers quite often. I wear blazers with skirts or pants daily for office attire, and frequently pair them with dark denim and boots on weekends. I’m really enjoying the more casual knit blazers such as those carried by LOFT, and usually gravitate to those on weekends. You might check those out of you want something not quite so structured. Maybe I’m old-fashioned but I think blazers are a classic look that’s always in style, as long as you’re not wearing one from the 80’s with huge shoulder pads!

  23. Hey girl!
Almost finished taking my Christmas down too! My house looks blah every year when this day rolls around.
I just ordered those jeans too! I’m hoping they fit good and don’t stretch out bad. I love AG jeans because they never lose their shape but man oh man they are expensive!!!
    Happy New Year!!!

  24. I’ve been eying that scarf whenever I venture into Target. 🙂
We’re also taking down our decorations today, though our 13 year old would rather they stayed up. I always look forward to putting them up, and then on New Years I’m so ready to take them down.
God bless you! And thank you for your blog; I love your ideas.

  25. Cute outfit! You inspire me to step out of the box and not wear black boots with this outfit which I would have ALWAYS done in the past!! How did you tie your scarf?

  26. Cyndi, haven’t commented in awhile but I wanted to say that I’m loving your posts. Your outfits are perfect each and every day. Please let us know how you like those jeans you ordered. I’m thinking about them too.

  27. I’m also taking down Christmas. Yes the house looks bare but it gives me time to refresh and redo my vignettes. I love all you incorporate in your blog. You are so done to earth I feel we could be best friends. I also love that you share your faith. It seems the world so wants to make a minority of us. Just shows you how many need Jesus and a cute outfit!

    1. Margie, I’m just feisty enough that the more they try to tell me not to talk about Jesus, the more I’m going to say. 🙂
      Happy New Year!!
      Cyndi

  28. I, too, love scarves! They really add to an outfit, don’t they?! I like yours in these pictures. I’m also taking down Christmas decorations today, and I dread it. I need to get up and get started! And I will always love big hair! Always. 🙂

  29. Hi Cyndi,
Happy New Year. I hate taking the decorations down it’s always a bit sad.
I’m starting tomorrow. Here in the Uk we are supposed to keep them up until 12th night which is the 6th January. I have three trees so I always have to start early.
Looking forward to giving the house a good clean. Just made fab roast dinner, burnt my hand
On hot pan coming from oven and dropped roast potatoes all over the floor. I had a cry but all was well and everything else enjoyed.
    Love Nicky x
