31 Days of Winter Fashion-Day 19

It’s Day 19 of my 31 Days of Winter Fashion and today I’m styling that hugely popular herringbone vest.

Every time I wear this vest, I have to laugh because I had no idea it was going to be all over Pinterest. I got my vest in my Stitch Fix box and I almost sent it back. But for some reason, I decided to keep it.

Well, I’m kind of glad I did! I styled it this past fall with my chambray shirt and red scarf. I think this vest looks best with red. Whether it’s a red scarf, or red sweater.

I like to find different ways to style a piece of clothing and I recently saw this picture on Pinterest.

I was at Target the other day and found this scarf and thought it would work with my vest. I don’t like it as much as I did the red scarf but I think it’s nice to change it up a bit. I couldn’t find the scarf online so I can’t link to it.

Some times I get an email asking me to style dressier outfits for work. I work from home so I don’t have to dress up. But if I did, here are some of the outfits I would wear.

I love dresses and skirts and casual pants. For some reason, I don’t wear dress pants very often.

During the winter months, I think corduroy pants would be a great alternative. I also love a Ponte pant.

LOFT has 60% off these pants and they all have great reviews!

What do you wear to work?? Do you have to dress up or is it casual?

Beauty For the Heart~~I want to thank you all so much for all your prayers for Bennett and her family. It’s a wonderful thing that we can use this internet to lift a little girl up in prayer.

Last night when I was reading through all the comments I thought about how Satan uses the internet for horrible things and he thinks he has the victory but oh how wrong he is!

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

Have a blessed day!

  1. Hi Cyndi,

The striped scarf in the original pinterest pic is from Forever 21. I know because I own it :)) Thanks for blessing me daily with your blog!

  2. Ugh, I lost 42 lbs last year and then got a job as a training coordinator in a manufacturing plant. Hard to be cute in steel toes and safety glasses! And it’s dirty. My cute stuff goes to church!

  3. Hi Cyndi, yes I like this outfit too. I also work for my OH here at home in the UK and have no
Real need to dress up unless I have to meet with a client. I have to say that I do enjoy dressing up.
Today we have been out viewing new houses to buy as this is the year we move. It is so difficult
to find what we both absolutely love and somewhere the kids ( now all left home except my baby she is 16) and still at home and in school, will want to come too for visits, We have a baby grandson he is just 4 months old! I did manage to get some shopping done today and had a new pair of ankle boots in blue, reduced right down in the sale., always love a bargain.

  4. Hi Cyindi!
I work out of my home 4 days a week, but at a Preschool. I am the director and like to look/feel put together. I also never know what the day will hold, so need to keep things pretty casual and comfy. Your outfits are perfect for me!
Thank you for the heads up on the Loft sale. I got a pair of black jeans for $14.95! WhooHoo!
I also found a pair of ankle pants for Spring at NY&CO that is going out of business for 9.00! Yee Haw! I am anxious to see how you style them in the spring.

  5. Love the black outfit, I would wear that to work, I’m a sales assistant for a tree fruit shipper. I’d say we have a casual company dress code…guys wear collared shirts and jeans mostly, adding shorts in the warmer months; we gals wear slacks, capris, ankle pants, jeans, sandals and a few younger ones will don sleeveless tops occasionally. At this time of year I wear dark washed and colored jeans, blouses, sweaters, blazers and jackets with assorted booties and scarves. Have LOVED your pops of color lately, keep ’em coming. I have such a fun closet of clothes this year since I have you in my life! So many choices, so many different looks! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I need to try more jewelry though, I’m real shy in that department.

  6. I work in a church office so I don’t have to be too dressed up but I like to look put together whether I’m wearing my dark blue jeans with a cute top and accessories or a little dressier pants. I rarely wear dress pants and almost never to work. I need to think more about wearing dresses as I rarely do. I am well over 40 actually over 60 but I enjoy your blog and would wear most of the outfits you do 🙂

  7. I have to dress for work but I still wear your casual outfits on my days off and weekends. You have such great looks. Do you have any ideas for dressier work days? I love to wear boots in the winter months.

    1. Cyndi and Erica: Also would like tips for those of us in professional offices with stricter dress codes. Specifically I’m struggling with shoes! I find myself gravitating toward dressy/ponte knit/skinny pants because they are so comfortable, but in my office still borderline appropriate…..flats are cute, but not necessarily professional enough and I’m short, but high heels just don’t cut it for all day comfort……any ideas?

  8. I found a gorgeous fur-trimmed vest last week at Savers (one of my go-to thrift stores) and snapped it up thanks to you! I wouldn’t have given it a second look had I not read your posts about your own fur-trimmed vests, Cyndi! Thanks for opening my eyes to new styles.

  9. I work as a Teacher Assistant in 2nd grade, plus I babysit my 3 yr. old granddaughter after work, so my wardrobe is definitely on the casual side. I love all the ideas that I get from you! I am so excited, that I am sharing w/everyone @ school & church about your ministry. And, most importantly, God is using “Walking in Grace & Beauty” to speak to me in so many areas of my life. Praise be to our Mighty God!

  10. Good Morning, I also work from home and don’t have to dress up, but I love to dress up, so when I get the opportunity, I DO!! 🙂 Your outfit today is darling and I love the vest. I have not seen one in my shopping sprees this winter. Have a blessed day!!
