It’s Day 21 of my 31 Days of Winter Fashion and today I’m styling a Lou & Grey dress from the LOFT.
Sometime last year, LOFT introduced the Lou & Grey line. It’s casual instead of dressed-up, it’s “free spirited” instead of office-appropriate, it’s all soft neutrals instead of blacks, navys and prints.
Here’s the description they gave about someone who wears Lou & Grey. “A free spirit who floats in and out of every situation with ease. Someone who’s aware of her surroundings yet still makes time for daydreaming. When she loves something, she holds onto it forever. She likes to look, listen, touch, feel…discover. If she stumbles, a smile is never far behind. She’s a beautiful mix of contradictions.”
Hmmm, I do have a tendency to be a free spirit and I’ve definitely been known to stumble. You can ask my husband, but I stumble and even fall regularly. I think it’s because I’m usually in a hurry and I’m not paying attention to where I’m going. 🙂
Anyway, I like the look of this line mainly because it’s comfortable. I styled the dress I’m wearing with booties and tights. I added the next two pictures to show you how they wear dresses with booties and they don’t have to match the dress. (You probably already know that.)
This is the dress I bought and styled. I’m not quite as cool as the girl in this picture but I love the dress.
It’s soft and comfortable, and I could wear it all day. It’s also warm and perfect for winter weather.
I’m wearing grey tights and tan booties. I added my blingy necklace. The necklace has a hint of gray and tan in it so it goes with both.

I just bought this dress the other day! (it was on sale on Saturday.) I was going to wear it to church on Sunday but thought my grey tights were maybe too dark -but I see you are wearing similar to mine and it looks good.

What a cute look for you! I’m a frequent flyer at LOFT, but just started buying Lou & Grey in the past year. Their pieces are more expensive, but seem to hold up well. Sometimes I think they are worth the splurge, but as another reader said, “wait for the sale!” If you keep up with them on-line, there is something on sale every day, and I never pay full price for items I want.
Cyndi, This outfit looks great on you! It looks stylish yet comfortable. I have these booties in tan and wine color. I will try them with a similiar outfit instead of long boots. Also wanted to say that I purchased the Warm It Up lip color and love it. I was ready for a new color and it is perfect. Thank you for the inspiration. I bought a small and I’m 5’6″. I think wearing it with tights helps the length.

Love the look Cindi…..I am 50ish and I think I could pull this off! I am like some of the women that have commented, I tend to gravitate to my heels when wearing a dress, but change is good. Booties with tights and a dress….so cute!!
I really love this outfit on you, especially with the booties! I am trying to remind myself to wear booties with my Sunday dresses, but I have a tendency to always gravitate towards my heels. I am really trying to be “good” the next few months and not make any purchases until I mix and match what is already in my closet! I just bought the tall cognac boots you wear a lot from Rack Room (LOVE!), signed up for Stitch Fix (got my first box last week and bought a great pair of jeans from it — way more than what I have ever spent on jeans but the fit was like they were made for me!) and also bought the Premier Kit from YL — Girl, what are you doing to me!?!?!! hahaha I just may have to block you for a while (kiddin’) 🙂

Have tried Lou and Grey and love it. While it’s sometime excluded in sales, not always, so wait for the sale girls!

Wasn’t a fan of the model looks, but scrolling down to you was a very nice surprise…you styled it beautifully, maybe a grey bootie for my taste. Comfy and causal enough to teach 2nd/3rd grade Sunday School kiddos and then polished enough to walk into church service afterwards. I like alot!
