Fitness Over 40 Challenge

Fitness-Over-40-Challenge

***This challenge is closed but I will have another soon!

I have been wanting to do a Fitness Over 40 Challenge with you for a while! But doing a fitness challenge meant putting it together, and truthfully that is a lot of work.

Well, I finally have gotten it together and I’m so excited to share it with you! It’s no secret that I talk about trying to be healthy in my forties and beyond.

Let me just say, I’m teetering on the beyond part. I’m going to be 49 in August. Yikes!

I have shared this picture before but the one on the left (what was I thinking with that outfit??), was a few years ago. Since then I have been eating better and exercising more.

FitnessOver-40-Challenge

It is harder and harder to stay fit but I’m on a mission to try my best. We all know that our metabolism slows down the older we get so it’s important to exercise and eat right.

Plus, studies show that working out may lower a woman’s risk of breast cancer by 37 percent, osteoporosis by 45 percent, and heart disease by 14 percent.

Why didn’t I start exercising in my 30’s?? It’s never to late to start! We’re not trying to be a size 0, we are trying to look and feel better.

So here is what we are going to do:

1. We are going to exercise.

2. We are going to eat healthy.

3. I’m going to encourage and support you. Basically, I’m going to be your cheerleader!! Plus I will be doing it right along with you.

The Workout

I chose to do the 21 Day Fix program for the workouts and meal planning. (I didn’t go by the meal plan exactly on my own, but I am going to do it this time around.)

Challenge Info

The fit challenge is a program that is run in a closed group setting (on Facebook) and lead by me. Each workout is ONLY 30 minutes long and the program comes with an eating plan. The fit challenge is for anyone who wants to get back on track with eating and exercising.

This program will do more than just help you lose inches and tone up. It’s a great program for beginning and intermediate fitness levels, those wanting to shed 5-15 pounds or anyone looking for a way to kick-start your new healthy lifestyle.

If you stick to the program and eating plan you will see results. I promise!

I’m only going to accept a limited number of people per challenge group so that I can offer daily support and accountability to each of you.

What you can expect

I will provide daily motivation to help keep you focused and on track. We will share things like menu planning, avoiding temptations, healthy recipes and when and how to fit working out into your daily life.

I will give you lots of my tips and tricks to keep you moving in the right direction. At the end of the challenge we will measure progress and see how far we have come!

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THE FIT CHALLENGE GROUP, PLEASE SIGN UP HERE FOR MORE DETAILS. (You are signing up for more information, you can still decide if you want to do the fitness challenge.)

If you have been putting off getting healthy, this might be just what you need!

Beauty For the Heart~~As Christians, we are running toward a heavenly reward.  Prayer, Bible study and worship are preparing us to run with stamina!

“You’ve all been to the stadium and seen the athletes race. Everyone runs; one wins. Run to win. All good athletes train hard. They do it for a gold medal that tarnishes and fades. You’re after one that’s gold eternally.

I don’t know about you, but I’m running hard for the finish line. I’m giving it everything I’ve got. No sloppy living for me! I’m staying alert and in top condition. I’m not going to get caught napping, telling everyone else all about it and then missing out myself.” 1 Corinthians 9:24-27

Have a blessed day!

  1. I’m sure you won’t see this but I just read that you will be 49 in August….I will be 49 also in August. What day is your birthday? It is really hitting me hard this year that I will be this age. I know it’s just a number but it’s having an effect on me for some reason

    1. Cathy I did see your comment. I turned 49 on August 4th. 49 was not too bad for me, but I think 50 is going to be hard. I can’t believe that I’m that age. Where did time go??

It is just a number and a good reminder for us to live life to the fullest.
      Hang in there!
      Cyndi

      1. I just had a birthday in Feb and turned the BIG 50!! I wasn’t looking forward to it at all and to top it off…… I keep getting these AARP packets in the mail every month for me to join the club!! Uggghhhhh….. anyway I just had a friend who saw me holding my 7 month old grandson yesterday and he said i still looked the same as 20 yrs ago when I was holding my daughter( my grandson favors her my daughter so much)…. Well that makes a girl feel pretty good and I’m happy to be alive and blessed with great health! To God be the glory 🙂 So embrace it when it comes because you look great!!

  2. im doing weight watchers online and I have lost 15lbs news to lose at least 15 more! Any tips and suggestions would be great!!

  3. Hi Cyndi,
Love this idea and it will surely get some women in shape, but I can’t spend $140. right now, on how to get fit, ONLY because I already have several 21 day fitness info here in my house and saved onto my computer. I finished a 21 day, “Bikini Body Ready” healthy eating challenge that was free, back in June, and it was awesome… so I know yours will be too!! My hubby has a degree in health and nutrition, and his library is full of these kind of helpful books. The only thing I miss is someone to help me stay on the right path during the 21 days… but then I guess I need to learn better “will power”! I have already started on a more healthy eating and have been meat free now for 2 months and dairy free for a couple weeks. I can’t believe the change in my health for the better!!! I have a bad knee so exercising is minimal… walking and swimming is my best exercise. Love you for offering a challenge for fitness and healthy eating… those two things are growing bigger in our age groups and it is great to see people eating more healthy and less doc visits!!!

    1. I am a Beachbody coach and just wanted to say that you will love this workout program! I have done it several times…and it is wonderful! I will be praying for the group that start this journey with you!! Have fun!!

      Tammy

  4. I am going to cancel my sign up for the chalange, my neise is a beach body coach so i will be doing it with her . Thank you and good luck.

  5. I would love to sign up for the challenge but I’m not on Facebook. Would there be any other way to participate?

    Thanks,
    Lisa

  6. Let’s do this challenge together Cyndi. I’m 48 and ready to back to where I was at 42; a size 6.
    3 cheers for health!
    Saddina

  7. I’m interested!! I’ve been researching simethings to try to get me going on my weighloss. I’ve been trying but not been successful. So maybe this is what I need. Look forward to the info. Thanks Cyndi!

  8. I was so excited when I first read this. I would love to do the challenge with you all, but I’m not on Facebook. :o(

But I can try on my own, and I look forward to hearing how it goes. Have fun!

  9. Interested in learning more…I retired 11 months ago and have gained a pound for each month…I need motivation, pls

  10. i’m in! Please include me in your challenge. The timing of this post is incredible Cyndy! I was just praying on this this weekend asking God to help me to take better care of the body He gifted me with and asking forgiveness for not taking better care of this great gift. Thank you!

    1. When does it start and how do we get the 21 day fix.. Is it discounted or what’s the cost etc

    1. Yes it tastes good!!
Shakeology is made from whole-food sources, which means no chemicals or additives. The ingredient list is actually made up of 70 whole-food ingredients, not just extracts, harvested from indigenous sources from around the world.

      What it has:

1.Highly absorbable protein with all 8 essential amino acids helps build muscles & reduce food cravings
2.Daily supply of 23 vitamins & minerals so you don’t have to take your multivitamin any more
3.Red & blue superfoods are high in cancer-preventing antioxidants
4.Green superfoods help to detoxify the body, neutralize pH, and have anti-inflammatory properties
5.Adaptogen herbs help the body to cope with environmental stresses and toxins
6.Digestive enzymes and pre & probiotic aids improve digestion & nutrient absorption

      What it doesn’t have:

1.NO artificial anything- colors, preservatives, flavors, or chemicals
2.NO caffeine- whole foods supply the body with all the nutrients it needs so it eliminates the need for additional stimulants making it safe for everyone
3.NO heat processing- considered a “raw” food, the whole-food ingredients won’t be denatured because they are never heated over 117 degrees, allowing them to maintain the maximum amount of nutrients and bioavailability
4.NO added sugar- certified low glycemic index helps to stabilize blood sugar levels, keep calories low, and promotes weight loss.
      5. NO gluten- limits bowel irritability while promoting nutrient absorption

      Hope this helps!

  11. I am so excited! I did the 21 day fix with a friend last year & actually just started again yesterday on my own. I saw results and then just got busy with life and didn’t keep with it like I should have and gained a few pounds back. I would love to be a part of your group and be able to share this journey with other Christian women!

    Im in!

  12. I love the 21 Day Fix clean eating program, but the exercise program is very difficult for me-overweight and 57 (an August birthday also!). I will try if there is room for me. I am a single, widowed mother of four and need to get healthy for my children (youngest is 14). I would love to try again!

  13. I recently purchased the 21 Day Fix but would love to be part of a group to keep me motivated. My son is getting married in September and I want to look and feel my best! Thanks for doing this!

  14. Hv fun girls!!! I joined fit challenge at work from Jan until march totally got back into exercise ! What a great way to encourage each other! I regularly meet with Christian friend in mornings at gym…we share prayer requests and complete our workout!
    Cyndi once again great idea!!!!
    Prayers

  15. Cyndi, I am happy to see you reaching out to women in this way. The ever-present weight battle is a struggle for so many. I really never gained victory in this area until I finally started making changes in my eating habits that I could maintain for life. For so many years and diets, I only focused on changing my eating habits for a period of time until I reached my “goal,” only to revert back to my same old ways and struggles.

    Blessings,
    Shellie

  16. Let’s do this. I am excited. It’s always more fun to exercise with a friend. I started doing yoga and it really helps with the aging process. Looking forward to your posts.

  17. I enjoy reading your blog every day (or when you post!) but I must admit – the comments are sometimes more entertaining! I joined a gym last night on the way home from work after getting out of the habit about 18 months ago. I don’t need to lose weight but everyone needs to exercise. I’m looking forward to cheering with everyone else.

  18. Cyndi,
Am I right that you will be compensated by BeachBody for “coaching” and also receive a commission from the products that challenge participants purchase? If so it leaves a funny taste in my mouth that this information is not included up front in the challenge information. If I am wrong I apologize for questioning your integrity.

    1. Hi Cindy,
I never want to be dishonest with my readers. I wasn’t even sure how I got compensated from Beachbody (I knew I did) so I had to google it.
I do get compensated when someone purchases a kit (I think that’s right).

To be honest with you, I have worked hours to get this organized through setting up emails, and a newsletter.
Plus I am responding to a ton of questions through email, I wrote a post and I’m leading a facebook challenge group to encourage, support and help the women who want to do this.

I never want to mislead anyone, but this blog is my business and when you purchase through this blog, I do get a commission. That is stated at the bottom of every post.

      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  19. Always interested in a fitness challenge as a way to stay motivated! I’d like to find out more!

  20. I will be very excited to be a part of this, living with MS I need support and motivation to exercise and eat healthy with a support group environment. God bless you for putting something like this together Cyndi.

  21. Would love to know more! I turned 49 in February. My grandmother died at age 49, so I am actually excited about my 50’s. I would just love to enter them the healthiest I possibly can. This is the kick start I need. Thanks so much for all you do!

  22. I just sent my 21 day fix back. I think it is an expensive set of measuring cups, and the exercise videos are for people who have reached a plateau. If you do the videos follow the beginner Kat, and warm up before hand. I was sore for a week! Portion control is key to any diet plan and there are plenty of small containers that you can modify . I am 57 and believe weight watchers and a clean diet is the 21 day fix. Cyndi I enjoy your blog so much!

    1. Hi Joan, 21 Day fix is not for everyone. I completely understand. My Mom (before she died) was a lifetime member of weight watchers. 🙂
      Thanks for stopping by!
      Cyndi

  23. I was just talking with my hairdresser about doing this yesterday! I would like more info, please. This is definitely the jumpstart I need. Now 46, it sure doesn’t come off as easy as it went on! Blessings!

  24. Cyndi, thank you for giving women this opportunity. I coming at this from a slightly different perspective. I’m 54 and always done some type of exercise. But because I’m tall (5’10”) I’ve been able to hide the gradual weight gain over the years. (Come on girls, we know it gets harder every year!) So, in January of this year I did the Whole30 with my daughter and lost 13 lbs, I still eat very cleanly and health-fully. I have become an avid cyclist and just finished my first “official” ride and even did 50 miles last week. I can honestly say I don’t think I’ve ever been in as good of shape and felt more healthy. My point, you ask? DO THIS, GIRLS! Feeling fit, being healthy, doing something for yourself is ok, under 50, over 50, at any age! God gave us bodies as our temples and He wants us to take care of them. I will be cheering you all on … you can so do this!!

  25. Thank you for doing this. I’m hoping the fitness piece might help me out. I am 50, overweight and I suffer from severe neuropathy in my feet so it is difficult to actually exercise since most exercises are standing and/or walking which is very painful for me. I am willing to give this a try as I need to lose weight and am having problems doing so.

  26. I love your posts each day! I turn 51 next month, and I have yo-yo dieted just about my whole life. I just ordered my 21 Day Fix program. It should be here this week. Excited to get started!

  27. I’d love to join! Actually just started this week, but would enjoy the accountability. Please let me know. Thank you!

  28. Funny you did this post today! I just started a FIT and Fabulous by Fifty pep talk to myself this past weekend after noticing I have seven months to get there! Sign me up! I will be right there with you Cyndi my fellow forty-niner!

  29. This is so funny! I bought the 21 day fix, but I haven’t started it, yet. I was going to email you today and discuss it with you! How ironic! Lol

  30. oh Cyndi…I could cry right now…in fact I am…I have been struggling each day…a lack of motivation. I know my metabolism is so slow and I am in such a rut!! Thank you Lord for this opportunity!! Thank you Cyndi!! Your timing is perfect for me!! God bless you sweet lady!!

  31. I just ordered this and my husband and I did the first workout last night. So excited to see that you are doing this too!

  32. When are you starting the challenge, ? I have some company from mexico and I work so I ll like to start when all the company is gone is hard to entertain and try to eat healthy lol if you know what i mean.
