Tips For A Better Night’s Sleep

The-snooze-routine
If there is one thing that drives me crazy (okay there are lots of things that drive me crazy but we haven’t got time for that), it’s not being able to sleep.

I was the best sleeper, until I turned 40. Then all of a sudden 3:30 am became my new best friend! Sorry, but that best friend had to go.

It would happen over and over. I would go to bed, sleeping sound and then all of a sudden I would wake up and it was always right around 3:30. Anyone else have that problem?

Well, I realized it was hormone related but I also knew there were things I could do to help my insomnia. Taking sleeping pills every night was not an option, so I decided to go a more natural route.

I do use essential oils to deal with “over 40 women issues”. I use Progessence +, Ylang Ylang, and Clary Sage everyday. These oils have been a life saver for me.

There are other tips that can help you get a better night’s sleep. Here are some tips that I have found work for me.

1. Set a regular bedtime and wake up at the same time everyday.

For me, I go to bed around 10 o’clock and wake up at 5:30. I try to stick to this schedule because I feel better when I get around 7 1/2 hours sleep.

2. Limit daily naps.

Everyday around 3 o’clock, I get sleepy but I try to fight through it. Every once in a while I will take a 15 minute power nap, but that’s it.

3. Eat right and get regular exercise.

I know this one gets old, but what you eat does make a difference. Try to make dinnertime earlier in the evening, and avoid heavy, rich foods within two hours of bedtime. No caffeine for me past 3 o’clock.

Regular physical activity can promote better sleep, it helps me to fall asleep faster and to enjoy deeper sleep.

4. Create a comfortable environment.

Create a room that’s ideal for sleeping. Often, this means cool, dark and quiet. Your mattress and pillow should be comfortable. I also diffuse Peace & Calming or Lavender in my diffuser right by my bed.

I don’t know about you but I love my bed and can’t wait to get in it at night, it is so comfortable. (On a side note, did you know that sleeping on a silk pillowcase is supposed to help minimize wrinkles and is better for your hair? This is the pillowcase I use.)

create a comfortable environment

5. Get anxiety and stress in check.

This one is a doozy! If there is one thing that will keep me up at night, it is stress. I try my best not to worry but let’s be honest, we all have days or weeks that are more stressful.

Matthew 6:33-34 is a good verse to claim when you are stressed, Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.

If I feel stressed before bedtime, I apply Stress Away essential oil to my neck to promote relaxation.

Do you have a daily routine that makes getting to sleep a breeze?

  1. I was just talking about this to friends….. all of a sudden I am tossing and turning at night. I used to sleep like a baby, and I am interested in trying essential oils !

  2. I am currently caring for my Mom on hospice care and i am struggling with insomnia. I find that i can not turn my mind off. I know this is for a season, and i usually spend my nights talking with God, but good grief, i’m so tired!

  3. I often have trouble falling asleep and wake up several times a night. I really need to start diffusing oils at night.

  4. I’d love to try this! I admit that I am a little skeptical when it comes to oils, but I would love to be proved wrong 🙂

  5. I have trouble getting to sleep and waking up in the middle of the night. I would love to try the essential oils. Thanks for your blog Cyndi. I really enjoy all of your posts and especially your Beauty for the Heart.

  6. I would love to try the essentials oils. I wake up several times every night. Thanks for a great give away.

  7. I would love to try these essential oils. 3:30 is also my wake up time and it’s so hard to go back to sleep…many early mornings cleaning my kitchen and then I drag in the late afternoon….

  8. I wake up at 3:30 as well! Our pastor made a comment in a sermon that maybe when we wake up in the middle of the night, God is nudging us to pray. That is my new strategy, but I think I will give the nightly essential oils a try, too!

  9. Yes, I’ve had trouble sleeping for several years now, and 3:30 is about the time I wake up as well every night. I’d love to try Essential Oils to see if that could be an answer for my sleeplessness. Thank you so much for your blog. Love it!

  10. I find sleep great some nights, not so great others. For me it is tied to stress so oils are essential :-).

  11. I hardly ever sleep 8 hours. Heck, I don’t normally sleep 6 hours either. I fall asleep so easily but a couple hours later I am wide awake. And maybe it is just me, but when awake during the night I can’t stop thinking about my problems. In the morning life suddenly seems much more manageable.

  12. Yes! I turned 40 in December and insomnia has been a bane to my existence! I love to sleep and have always needed at least 8 hours to function, so this has been a killer for me- especially when I have to go to work every day!

  13. There are times that I wake up in the middle of the night I can’t get back to sleep. And then I stress about not being able to fall back to sleep!

  14. I always have trouble sleeping and have found that lavender in my diffuser helps to calm me at bedtime. I could so use a free bottle:)

  15. I look forward to a full night of sleep. I love Psalm 139. I pray and dwell on that when the enemy uses anxiety and tries to steal my rest.
I hope you are as blessed today as much as you bless others.

  16. I’m interested in trying essential oils-not ready to buy the whole kit yet. I’d love the chance to try them first.

  17. Happy Birthday Cyndi ! You are an exciting and creative example of “Grace plus Beauty” in action. May this coming year be your most adventurous ever!!!! Blessings in your going out and coming in (:

  18. I have no trouble falling asleep, but my husband says I snore a lot. Working on improving health and losing weight to aid with this.

  19. I have not slept more than 3 or 4 hours a night in over 10 years. I need to try essential oils to see if that helps. Is lavender the best one for that?

  20. I’m 49, and yes, 3:30 seems to be my new best friend, too, along with hot flashes. Pre-menopause is an interesting time of life!

  21. I have been interested in essential oils for a while…just not sure if I want to commit to a full starter pack. Thanks for this chance to try some for free. Sleep is definitely an issue for me!

  22. Love your style of being beautiful from the inside out. I can tell it’s genuine! I’ve never used essential oils but have been researching them. Sure could use help sleeping.

  23. I have no trouble falling asleep, but some nights I wake up about four hours in – if it’s too hot or my allergies are bugging me.

  24. I use lavender oil regularly for anxiety but will definitely try some at night before bed! I’ve had similar issues with waking up at a certain time each night.

  25. I have not been able to sleep since I started menopause but cannot take hormones due to breast cancer years ago. My doctor suggested Magnesium and it has helped some. I would love to try the oils!

  26. I am a healthy 55 year old just starting to go through menopause. I have been to my Dr. regarding this and have been given a list of meds to consider. I prefer to do something more natural as I journey through this stage of life and am very interested in the essential oils. I have been doing some research and it can be very confusing; with so many different brands available. With all that said, I would like you to know how much I enjoy opening my e-mail account and see another post from your blog. I had initially pinned a picture of a particular fashion you had styled on pinterest, and clicked on to your website. That is how I became familiar with your blog. I had never subscribed to one before. As a Christian lady, I was very impressed that you intertwined your fashion sense with encouragement from God’s word. Thank you!

  27. My goodness….Do I ever have sleep problems! Since starting menopause, my sleep patterns have been a mess. Would love trying essential oils. I have been thinking about it for some time. Thanks for the chance to try some oils.

  28. I started taking melatonin before bed each night so that I could get to sleep. I would love to give these oils a try. Thanks for the chance to win.

  29. Yes, I have trouble sleeping at night. I fall asleep quickly and then wake up often. Then when my alarm goes off, I’m dead to the world. Would LOVE to have a bottle of Lavender and Stress-Away sounds great too. Stress is what causes me to wake up so often because I worry when I’m awake at night!

  30. I will be 40 in a month and have trouble at times going to sleep and I always wake up a few times. I am actually waiting on the results of having all my hormone levels tested. Thanks, I love your blog!! You are so honest!!

  31. Thank you for your blog. I look forward to reading every day. I love today’s scripture reading. It is one I often need as a reminder. I’ve been waffling about using the YL essential oils. This could be the decider!

  32. This would be the perfect time for me to try the essential oils. We’ve had lots of stress lately and traveling. I typically have no problem sleeping…….until now 🙁
    Fingers crossed!

  33. I love Young Living Essential Oils. I have trouble falling asleep. I use lavender oil every night. Would love to try Stress Away.

  34. We have two new puppies and I feel like I am living the newborn baby blues all over again with interrupted sleep. I would love to see if lavender oil would help all of us sleep better–pups included!

  35. I use Young Living lavender oil every day. I have breast fibroids so spread the oil on them several times a day.
That and reducing caffeine seems to help.

  36. I’ve had trouble falling to sleep and staying asleep since around age 40 too. I’ve been considering essential oils and would love to try them out.

  37. For the most part I don’t have trouble sleeping, but ever so often it seems like I’ll never get to sleep.

  38. I don’t have trouble falling asleep (yet)! 🙂 When I finally hit the sack, I usually fall asleep very quickly. My problem is making myself go to bed on time. I’m notorious for staying up too late. Trying to do better, especially since school is starting back soon!
Love your blog and all the wonderful tips, reminders, and encouragement!

  39. I usually have no problem sleeping. Peace and calming is my favorite oil to diffuse at night. It’s so relaxing!

  40. I thought you were talking about me when you began your post! All this summer, I wake up around 3:00. I’m a teacher so I wake up worried about getting my classroom set up and running out of time. Then during the school year, I wake up worrying about something school related. The only time I get a good night’s sleep is when I’m on vacation! My family is always telling me to take something, but I don’t like that idea. Essential oils sounds like it might be the way to go! Where do you get them?

  41. I struggle with sleep issues occasionally also. I’ve never tried essential oils for this though. You’ve peaked my curiosity.

  42. I have been a terrible sleeper for so long. My time awake in the middle of the night varies from week to week. I allow myself to take a Simply Sleep a couple nights a week but that doesn’t always work. I am intrigued by the “oily” life!

  43. Do you know if it’s ok to use the “woman over 40” oils if you have hypothyroidism ??? I’m having issues with those kinds of things but I don’t want to take hormones and anti- depressents for them.

  44. My time to wake up is 4:00 and it doesn’t matter what time I go to bed. I would love to give this a try. Thanks for the giveaway!

  45. Would love to win and try YL oils?. My daughters counselor at camp used lavender in a diffuser at night. She loved it!

  46. Does any boomer woman actually sleep? Sleep is so important! Would love to try the oil! Happy Birthday!!

  47. Hi Cyndi, Nicky here in the UK. Such a great post. I was awake at 4 am this morning, stayed up for an hour then back to bed. I rarely get a good nights sleep, there is always something
racing through my pea brain. I’m off on a job interview tomorrow and feeling quite nervous.
Love reading your posts. I hope your having a lovely birthday.
Best wishes Nicky xx ps weather still rubbish here, it’s been a dreadful Summer so far weather wise and we are already thinking of Autumn.

  48. I have had trouble sleeping since I turned 40 as well. Considering I will be 50 in a few weeks I think it is time I tried something that will help instead of just accepting it. I love your blog and if this works I will be forever in your debt!!!
    Thank you!!!
    Paula Nelson

  49. I really enjoy reading your blog. Very great ideas on fashion and health. I would love to win and try the essential oils.

  50. Essential oils are the only thing I haven’t tried. I don’t understand the concept but will research and give it serious consideration. I work 3 twelve hour night shifts/week so to say I’m a crazy, mixed up insomniac is an understatement!

  51. Hey Cyndi, I have the same problem. I’m 45 and have been waking up around 3-3:30am for about 4 or 5 years. I wake up and then my mind starts thinking of all the things I worry about, even though I know I shouldn’t. I’ve started praying during that time so I can just give it all to Him. I also remember Bible verses that comfort me. My troubles always seem magnified during the night, but my dependence on God is clearer then too, and for that I am grateful. I really don’t know how people without Jesus mentally survive the day, much less the nights. I sure do look forward to that joy coming in the morning. Maybe I should try the essential oils. My mind is a busy place. Thank you for this post.

  52. I have a hard time sleeping because my brain won’t turn off. I take melatonin in a formula that gives you a small dose to help you sleep then releases more later to keep you asleep. Now when I get up for my nightly bathroom break I can fall back asleep without a problem. I love the thought of using essential oils!

  53. Looks like this is a popular topic based on comments! I haven’t slept well in years so I will take note of these products. Plus I’m tired of watching the infomercials. 😉

  54. I have never slept well, even as a kid, but since I turned 50 it has been worse. (For me, 40 was the eyes going).

  55. I knew this would happen to me some day, so I knew what to expect. I was the manager of a coffee shop, so my hours were ALL over the place, from opening at 5AM, to closing and getting home well after 10:30PM – it really ruined my body’s natural rhythms, plus I am a “night person” as well. I have been working for quite some time to re-set my internal clock – I think setting a specific time to go to bed and wake up is very important, we haven’t had a TV in our bedroom for years, and getting into a bed time routine – our bodies love routine!!! Also no bright lights (TV, cell phones, iPad, etc) an hour before bed. Helps me!!

  56. Cyndi-I have just started using YL oils and have found that using lavender at night helps
me sleep better. Not sleeping well is miserable!

  57. My sleeping goes in ups & downs. Often I sleep well – dead to the world when I hit the pillow and trouble waking up, other times I’ll have trouble falling asleep or wake up for no reason & not be able to,go back to sleep – never know what I’m going to get! I pretty much always wake up NOT feeling rested….thanks for the giveaway.

  58. I have trouble sleeping almost every night for the pass three years. I have tried everything but oils. I might have to give it a try…

  59. I have tried Lavender Oil at my daughter’s when I’ve been visiting and it works. Would love to win the set.

  60. Thanks for the give away opportunity. I’m still considering joining YL, so winning a sample would be great!

  61. Insomnia has been a life long habit for me. I gave up caffeine 2 months ago and that has helped some. I look for natural ways to break that insomnia habit.

  62. I too am in that over 50 group with the 2;00 am friend of wake me up. I have tried lavender oil but with no success. Enjoy reading your blog.

  63. I tend to worry a lot.. I wish I could just relax. I would love to try the oils.

Thanks for your great post and giveaway!

  64. As a post menopausal woman who often has sleep issues I would love to try the oils. I have heard much about them and am very interested.

  65. Like you, I wake up most nights around 3 or 3:30. From that point on, my sleep is erratic. The good thing is that I’m rarely tired during the day.

  66. I haven’t slept well in YEARS! Even after a sleep study, no luck! I’m willing to try just about anything right now–and the oils sound perfect! The chiropractor I used to see used YL oils and they were magical…would LOVE to win these!

    1. Get an appointment with a functional medicine doctor and get your hormones checked. They regulate everything your body does.

  67. Most of the time I do not have troubles sleeping. Sunday night seems to be my worst night though. I think it’s my mind going over the upcoming week and getting somewhat stressed. I would love to see if these oils help.

  68. I am very interested in using essential oils and am planning on ordering a kit as soon as I get to go back to work (please keep my new job in prayer- I am a librarian by trade). This would be a great way to begin to get familiar with these products.

  69. I sometimes have trouble sleeping, mostly waking up mid-early morning hours. Have been using lavender oil and sleep much more soundly now. Would love to try the Stress Away!

  70. I have fibromyalgia and I am forty-five. Those things combined make sleep “tricky” to say the least. I have been thinking of trying essential oils for all my fibro issues. I haven’t had any luck with the medicines my doctor has tried. I’ve heard good things about essential oils. I just have no idea where to start or what issues would need my attention first…
A good night’s sleep might just be a great place to start. lol
Thanks for your blog. I look forward to it and I love all your tips and information you share.

  71. 3:30 is one of my favorite times — must be cause I seem to wake up then, too. But, what I can’t figure out is why this only happens on mornings when I have to go to work. When I wake and see the clock and realize I only have a short time left to sleep — the “Oh, I’ve got to get back to sleep quickly” anxiety creeps in.

  72. I have no trouble sleeping… it’s falling asleep that the problem. Melatonin is my friend, but I’d love to try something new. Thanks for the chance.

  73. Hi Cyndi, I have had a sleep issue for about 10-15 years. I tried everything and nothing helped until I tried a product called Somnapure which I found on line. It is herbal but different than taking melatonin , which never helped. I have never tried essential oils, but I would be interested in giving it a try. Thanks for sharing your insights and encouragement.

  74. I am 47. Tthis past year I have had some of these problems sleeping as well. I wake around 3AM every night.

I would love to try your combination of oils and see if it helps me sleep like I used to…

    P.S. I didn’t realize that I entered 5 times. 🙂

  75. these are some great tips !!! i am going to have to get a silk pillow case. I also use jordan essential lavender lotion on my arms and legs to help me relax. thanks for the verse it was much needed
    blessings
    Nicki

  76. Hi, I have been following your blog since January and look forward to receiving the email every day ? I am soon-to-be 39 and holding! The comments on your blog always encourage me that as women, we go thru similar things in life and are not alone. I have woken up in the middle of the night as well and had trouble falling back asleep. A few things that I’ve found have helped: make a list of the things on your mind, sometimes this helps put it out of your mind and on paper instead. Talk to your doctor, there could be an underlying cause that could be treated. Most recently I’ve had to try a yeast-free diet due to allergies and although not a fun way to eat, the change in eating habits seems to give me a more restful sleep.

  77. Hello Cyndi,
Thank you so much for your blog. I too have trouble sleeping. I recently started taking Magnesium orally and topically and it has helped a lot. I entered your contest for the essential oils which I use daily also. I was having done trouble with it and when I was done it said I was entered 5 times!!! Sorry bout that! I look forward to your blog each day, it is so nice to know that folks are sharing God’s word. The fashion part is fun too, so thank you again and God bless you and yours. Carmen

  78. Yes! My magic time is 3:10am – ughhhh :(, and then I get up at 5:45-ish. I never used to hit the snooze button, now, i can’t seem to stop. I do have a B-12 deficiency (pernicious anemia) that tends to contribute to this, but it has gotten much worse in the past 5 years. (I’m 51). I’m curious to see that you put oils in your water..other than say, lemon oil.

  79. I’m right there with you. I was awake last night from 3:30-4:45 ! I believe I’m going to give the oils a try.

  80. Cyndi,
    Happy Birthday!
Your message about sleep is so important. However putting those verses from Matthew under #5 was so timely for me. My husband just lost his job, again, due to mental health issues. God knew I needed to hear that message today and post the verses in my office at work (I’ll sleep better tonight!)

  81. I have had trouble sleeping for at least 10 years. I take a prescription sleep aide, however, I would love to try essential oils.
    Thanks for all the tips!

  82. I am so glad my friend shared your blog with me. I especially love your Sunday posts!! I receive your emails and I read you on facebook too. Lavender and Peace & Calming are two of my favorites. I’ve only had the Peace & Calming in the samples that came with the kit and just ordered the Peace & Calming II since the original is not available. Blessings!! Julie

      1. Hey Julie,
I use Peace and Calming ll since peace and calming is out of stock. I would give the Peace and Calming II away but they only allow you to order one a month and I have to have that stuff!! Ha!
        Blessings,
        Cyndi

  83. Was awake from midnight to 3:00 a.m. This is becoming common. Could use something to help me sleep better.

  84. I’ve been wanting to try those oils. Sleep, blessed sleep! My trouble with sleeping started a decade before yours!

  85. I always used to wonder why my Mom would be up at 4am and now I know – age! I have slept better since going back to work last September – more tired and less stress about money but there are still those nights/early mornings when I lay there listening to my husband snore…

I have a question about the essential oils – in your post about the lemon oil, you said you put it in your water. Recently I read that essential oils shouldn’t be ingested. I bought some from the health section at Wegmans and was going to use it in my water but now I’m concerned – any insight?

    1. Gina, I would not use the lemon oil you purchased from Wegmans in your water. Some essential oils can have stuff added to them and those you should not ingest.

I put Young Living essential oils in my water because I know they are pure essential oils. Young Living is open about allowing you to visit their farms and the places they make the oils. Many of my friends have been there and have seen first hand the care they take in making sure these oils are pure.

That’s why they are a little more expensive than what you buy over the counter.
      I hope that helps!!
      Cyndi

      1. Thanks Cyndi!

I want to look into using the oils to help with my son’s congestion. I’ve heard they’re great!

  86. I have had the same “middle of the night wake up” issue for the past couple years. I was excited by a previous post on oils you did and purchased the two oils you mentioned in that post. I would really like to try these for the sleep issue!

  87. Love this post! I have recently become a Young Living distributor and I’m moving learning more about all of these awesome oils! I am 49 and suffering horribly with menopause symptoms! Especially hot flashes! My question is, how exactly do you use the ylang ylang and Clary sage to help with your symptoms? Topically or do you ingest them? Thanks for your beautiful blog!!!

    1. I put both of those oils on the inside of my feet, morning and night.

If you look at the flex chart of your feet, female organs are on the inside of your feet so that’s why I put them there.
      Hope that helps!!
      Cyndi

  88. Lately it’s been 2:33 a.m. wake up calls for me! 🙁 I’m in the over 50 group, and wondering how in the heck I got here so quick. Will happily try the oils to see if it helps! Thanks for the opportunity!

  89. I see that it is your birthday. Happy Birthday! My sleep issues are that my 14 year old with special needs gets me up every night. I sure could use something to keep him asleep! I usually do not have a problem getting back to sleep but would love to try the oils on him and my husband. Thanks for the giveaway!

  90. Yes. After caring for both our Dad’s while on Hospice in our home, and subsequently walking through each of them passing on to Heaven within the last 12 months…sleep escapes both my husband and me. But God! He is our comfort, peace and help as we navigate our grief and healing. Thank you for your fun, informational and life-giving blog posts! God bless you!

  91. I have the same issues now that I am over 50. Sleeping is a nightly battle for me. I would love to try essential oils to see if this might help me. Love it if I am the winner.

  92. Menopause affected my sleep with waking in the middle of the night and night sweats. Using essential oils has helped me get a better night of sleep…which means a better day!

  93. Hi Cyndi! Thanks for the wonderful giveaway! I would love to finally have an all natural good night sleep!!!

  94. Great tips! I bought my starter kit back in March, and although I’ve experimented here and there, I still forget to incorporate them on a regular basis. I need to get better at remembering I have them and how useful they can be!

  95. Thank you for your tips on sleeping. I just turned 50 a month ago and for the past 6 months I’ve had a horrible time sleeping. I am definitely going to try some of your tips. Even though I’m in the best shape of my life, it is just too hard to let go of the stress.

  96. I know what you mean about the early waking; I still have issues with that. Mine actually developed while I was caring for a very ill husband (who later passed on). I had heard that lavender would help and I have a little jar with a roller ball that I can use to put it on around my nose but I would definitely prefer something else. The essential oil in a diffuser sounds perfect. I would love to win this.

  97. Would love to have a good nights sleep ! I am interested in the essential oils but haven’t tried them yet so this would be a great chance to try a natural alternative.

  98. Sleep the only true fountain of youth! I remember as a teen, and watching my own teens, that sleep felt like the effortless pleasure…o’ how sweet a gift for the young.

Having my summers off as a teacher, I have learned for myself the only obstacle I have to a perfect nights rest is stress. During the school year, sleep can be choppy and turbulent. Additionally, going to work without enough sleep is such a challenge.

Yet all through out my summer break, I enjoy deep restful sleep. This difference always remind the Lord’s many reminders to not worry He is in charge. Worry is a funny thing, you can feel mentally relaxed or accepting of the situation , but your physical body holds on to it.

  99. I have been a poor sleeper since being diagnosed with thyroid disease in my 30’s, then everything fell apart. It would be great to see if these oils would help me.

  100. I do have trouble falling asleep. I would love to try this, and have a very special grandson that could use help with falling asleep too. Thanks for all you do 🙂

  101. I just wanted to tell you that I’ve printed some pictures of your hairstyle last night to take to my stylist tomorrow – my hair is just driving me nuts and all I’m doing is putting it up in a ponytail and it’s really starting to look ‘old ladyish’. With the thinning and grey that is starting to take over (I don’t want to color it) it is certainly time for a more professional cut and style, so I’ve got my fingers crossed very tightly that it will turn out well! Love your blog!

  103. Hi Cyndi… HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! How much over 40 are you now? You look like you would be in your late 30’s!! I love your style and thanks for all the tips!!!
I turned 40 , 7 years ago and just this past year have started waking up around 3:00 or 4 and having a hard time going back to sleep… I cut out all eating after 6pm. and all drinks after 8pm. and that seemed to help. But now I have started it again… I know I go to bed at the same time and never use an alarm to get up, I automatically wake up around 6:30 -7 am. but I have this brake in sleep each night that I hate…. so I am going to use your remedy!!

    1. Aww thank you, I’m well into my forties, 49!! I really think essential oils have helped with my overall health and appearance.
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  104. This email couldn’t have come at a better time. I woke up at 4:30 this morning and I couldn’t get back to sleep. Too much on my mind and I had a headache. So I got up and put a drop of peppermint oil and a drop of lavender on my temples and back of my neck. I fell back asleep and woke headache free. Now I feel a little nervous about the day ahead. I sure could use a drop or two of Sress Away!
I bought my Premium Starter Kit from Cyndi and it is worth every penny! It’s really fun learning how to use the oils.

    1. Cathy I’m so glad you like them!! I am addicted, my husband calls me the oily lady, I’m constantly bathing myself in some oil. Ha!!
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  105. I have no trouble falling asleep at night! I usually fall asleep on the couch around 9:30 and then wake up around 11:00 and go get in the bed and fall right back asleep! LOL! What I do have trouble with is waking up around midnight and then again around 2:00AM. Bathroom breaks! My internal alarm clock wakes me up at 4:30AM every morning – so it’s out of bed I go and up and ready for the day ahead! This is the same routine for me almost every evening when I sleep. I also let stress take over in the evenings and sometimes it gets the best of me! Why do we do that? The Bible clearly says “do not worry”! I need to practice more of what I read in the Bible!

    1. Just a thought… bathroom brakes at night can be a sing of sugar diabetes. Or drinking too late before bed…lol 🙂 my hubby found out he had diabetes this way(always up to pee in the night)

  106. I can so relate to things being different after 40! Thanks for the insights and opportunity to win some essential oils! Blessings!

  107. I’ve never tried essential oils to help me sleep, but like you, now that I’m over 40 I am having trouble getting and staying asleep. I would love to try this alternative to the occasional medication.

  108. I LOVE using Stress Away! I think that’s my favorite oil!

I’ve experienced a change in my sleep the past several years–actually it started when I was pregnant and has just gotten worse. If I wake up, for whatever reason, I am awake for HOURS!!! The minimum is usually 1 1/2 hours and the longest is about 4 hours! Laying awake for 4 hours in the middle of the night is NOT what I want to be doing!! I LOVE MY SLEEP!!!

  109. I have trouble sleeping as well! I believe it is hormones & my thyroid. Both my mom and sister have hypothyroidism. I have been tested because I have every sign and symptom, but because my TSH results are within “normal” levels nothing further has been done. I have heard a lot about essential oils. I will have to give them a try! Thanks!

  110. Hello, they don’t call it “the change of life” for nothing-seems every aspect of live changes.
I so miss the deep and restful sleep that I got prior to menopause. Hope to try the natural approach with the oils and recover that!

Love your blog and your style. You’re an inspiration to all of us!

  111. I usually don’t have trouble sleeping – but I have lots of friends who do! Occasionally I will wake up in the middle of the night if I have a stressful situation going on, and then I toss and turn forevah!
