Fabulous After 40 Styleblazer

styleblazer
Several months ago I attended the Reward Style Conference in Dallas, Texas. This is an invitation only conference for style bloggers and I was beyond excited that I got invited.

Then after I decided to go, fear set in because I didn’t know anyone going and these were REAL style bloggers, what was I thinking?

I tried to talk myself out of going several times but my husband insisted I go and thankfully he tagged along so if no one talked to me, I could always go back to the room and he would be there.

So, I think this was a “God thing” but as soon as I walked into the hotel to check in for the conference, someone called out my name. I was shocked! Who knew me??

Well, it was Deborah Boland from Fabulous After 40. She was sitting in the lobby and boy was I glad to see someone over 40!

We had never met in person, but we knew each other from our blogs. I was so thankful for her!! We hung out over the next three days and it was fun getting to know each other.

Isn’t it amazing how God cares about the smallest details of our lives!

Anyway, she does a feature on her blog called, Fabulous After 40 Styleblazer and this week she is graciously featuring me.

She asked me a ton of questions and my prayer is that I was able to glorify Christ in what I shared. If you would like to see the post you can go here.

Beauty For the Heart~~I am a worrier by nature. I know that scripture tells me not to worry but I sometimes let situations get to me and I find myself worrying when I know God can handle it.

When I find myself in a season of worry, writing scripture on paper and putting in places I know I’ll see it, always helps me.

Many, many, times I have put scripture on my bathroom mirror, my refrigerator, and even in my car.

If I can bathe myself in scripture, then my worries seem to wash away!

Whatever you are worried about today remember Proverbs 3:5-6, Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Have a blessed day!

  1. Loving that bright petal pink blouse. I adore that color (as a girl with light pink skin, those pinks are my best friends… blues a close second of course!). Sorry, I know that wasn’t the purpose of this blog post, but I have to know… where, who? 🙂

  2. I follow both your blogs as well as several others and I loved your interview. All of the fashion blogs for those of us over 40 ( or way over….63 here) are inspiring and fun so thank you for your insight and ideas. I too feel uncomfortable in unknown situations and you handled it wisely. Your fashion advice has inspired me to stay classic as well and go trendy when I see something I like. For the last 20 years I had not worn shorts. My legs were getting veiny…from 3 pregnancies (1979 to 1986) and then working in retail and standing all day. But 2 years ago we moved to SC and well…it is HOT down here so I bought shorts and skorts ( I love these) and wear them all the time….veiny legs and all. I think it is all about attitude and love of family, friends and the Lord and support from all.

  3. Greetings from Canada, love your posts ,,,lovely interview with Fabulousafter40.
    You are an inspiration!

  4. Great interview with Deborah! You are such a good example of a faithful Christian woman. You come across as sincere and classy and beautiful inside and out. Thank you for all you do!

  5. Cyndi,

I’m a 60-plus woman (61!). And I, like you, love girly things and trends and fashion. I have learned to dress for my figure, and a lady can really look good if she highlights her good areas and downplays the not-so-great areas. But your message is good. Beauty on the inside is so, so precious. And that only comes from Christ.

So as far as the “too old for that” rules, I think it’s so individual. If you have the figure for certain things, age doesn’t matter too much. But I’m finding that as I age, modesty becomes even more important, for as an older Christian woman, the Bible tells me to be an example for the younger ones and to be reverent. So I’m working on that! And I do love that your outfits are so pretty, but you are always appropriate.

I have to be careful about not jumping too quickly into trends. I love it all, but usually I sit back a bit and think about if it’s age appropriate.

Anyway, been following your blog for a while, just wanted to touch base and tell you I think your blog is fabulous! I love your accessories and I agree with you, that can really make the outfit complete.

    God’s greatest blessings to you,

  6. so happy you went, but bet it was a great comfort just knowing your husband was there to have your back. 🙂

  7. Cyndi, thank you for what you said about worrying – I struggle with that too. We take our 2 kids away to college tomorrow & I really need to cling to the Lord to combat the worry. Your blog is an encouragement in so many ways 🙂

  8. What a great interview, and how great to have someone ask you questions that are often on my mind – that I might ask if I ever met you in person. Truly inspiring – and I thank God that I found your blog – don’t remember now how, but so glad :). You’re a blessing!

  9. Hi Cyndi,
Congrats!! I loved the interview with Deborah Boland in “Fabulous After 40” ! You were ahh-may-zing as usual. All your answers were perfect and you portrayed a lady of fashion and a Godly woman. I am pleased to tell anyone that I know you and introduce them to your blog!
I also love Bible scripture around our house. I have printed ones on the frig and framed ones in other rooms and a magnetic one on my washer/dryer. The Gospel of Christ is our hope and peace in time of worry!!

  10. I love the way Proverbs 3:5-6 “pops” up just when I need it most. Like today for instance. My heart is heavy. My shoulders are stooped with worry. I pop over to see what you’re wearing today. LOL and your “Beauty for the Heart” is about worry and Proverbs 3: 5-6 God’s little reminder to me to just trust him. Nothing is going on that He doesn’t already know the outcome of. I for sure don’t know the outcome. I keep playing several different scenarios over and over in my head. Why is it so hard to just trust Him with the outcome? what I should do, just give it to Him and yet I try to figure it all out myself. Thankful for this verse, the comfort it gives and for you, the instant messenger. 🙂 Oh btw, that color looks great on you!

  11. Hi Cyndi! I read your interview on Fabulous After 40 Styleblazers and really enjoyed it. I am so thankful still for your blog, which I look forward to reading every day. The Beauty for the Heart is my favorite part. It is important to me that my heart be beautiful to God and thanks to you, I am reminded of that daily. So, thank you!!!!

  12. Fabulous Article and I really appreciate your focus on inner beauty! Would you please share where you found that pink blouse you are wearing at the top of this post? I love the color and style!

  13. Congratulations Cyndi!! They know a good thing when they see it. I so enjoy reading your blogs and suggestions on all the girly things we love. God has truly blessed you so you could spread his word and reach so many women. Looking forward to your next post 🙂

  14. I enjoy your blog and God’s grace and beauty He gave me.

A quote my daughter found about worry because we fall into that bad habit.

“Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God”

  15. The write up for Fabulous After 40 is wonderful. Such a great testimony and Deborah did a great job with the questions she asked.
