One lucky lady will win a $100 Nordstrom gift card. There’s a Rafflecopter widget at the bottom of this post that you can use to enter. 🙂

26 days of fall fashion
I’m ready for some fall fashion and I thought it was only fitting that I start with stripes and leopard print since those are two of my favorite patterns to mix!

I found this striped tunic from Old Navy and I absolutely love it! I can’t say enough good things about it. It’s one of those tops that won’t wrinkle and it’s super comfortable.

There are limited sizes in the black striped one (I’m wearing a small) so if you’re going to get it, I would do it soon. It also comes in a blue and white stripe and a tan and white stripe.

I’m wearing my favorite leopard print scarf. Target doesn’t have this one anymore but this one is similar. I’m also wearing ankle boots from Old Navy, oh how I’ve missed me some ankle boots!

If I’m out and about, and it starts to get cool this fall, I can add this utility jacket. I purchased this one earlier in the year from LOFT.

  1. I love your blogs and the way you put your outfits together. Keep them coming! Oh yeah and I hope I win the gift card to jump start my Fall wardrobe, it’s getting pretty tired. Have a blessed day.

  2. I especially love this outfit! It is so great for just about anything from a tailgate to running errands to a day of antiquing and lunch with the girls. Great fall look!

  3. Just found your site and absolutely love it. Two things I love: Most outfits are things I have in my closet, just never thought to pair together; and your daily bible verses are a blessing to my heart. Thanks so much for sharing your ideas and your spirit with us.

  4. I stumbled across your blog via pinterest, and absolutely love your sense of design and style. I’m not over 40, but will definitely be recreating some of these looks!

  5. I love how easy and fun the ensembles you put together are! And comfortable! You have provided lots of links that make it easy to find the pieces you have chosen. Thanks!

  6. I love that there are trendy, modest choices! Sometimes we have to look for them, but it is ALWAYS worth the extra time. I also love the verses you use. Thanks for the encouragement and for being such a beautiful inspiration!! ~Tracy

  7. Absolutely love your style! Feeling encouraged and inspired…excited to see the rest of your fall outfits! Love the striped tunic!

  8. I really like this outfit! I can recreate it with things I already have in my closet. I can’t seem to get enough stripes. I have so many already & keep trying to stop myself from buying more. They are more interesting than plain but just as versatile.

  9. I have a similar utility jacket that I am looking forward to wearing when the weather finally cools off. In NJ we are still humid and in the 90’s!

  10. I look forward to seeing how you and Jo Lynne style different outfits. Thanks for your hard work and the thought you put into your posts.

  11. Looking forward to some fall weather and a fun fall wardrobe – boots, scarves – YUM! Thanks, Cyndi, for your inspiration.

  12. I have stayed away from hoizontal stripes for YEARS! But I believe that the scarf draws the eye upward and the look is really fresh and youthful. Thanks for the great idea!

  13. I love this look! Can’t wait until it gets cool enough over here in southern California to wear long sleeves and pants again. I’m going to try folding up skinny jeans so I can wear my new booties. I love how the stripes and leopard print look together.

  14. I will have to copy your outfit! I have black & white striped tops, and ankle boots so just need a green utility jacket and I’ll be set. Thanks for the inspiration & for posting where to purchase.

  15. Hi Cyndi,
I’m a pretty new follower. I turned 40 a few months ago and felt I was in a fashion rut. I turned to Pinterest for ideas and found your blog! It has been such a blessing! I look forward to your posts and I can’t begin to tell you what a difference it has made. I invested in a few summer pieces and your blog has helped me put things together to add some pizzaz back into my wardrobe. My family has noticed and I get compliments at work too. I like the way you coordinate pieces and most of the items you feature are reasonably priced. I’m closely watching the Fall fashion wardrobe posts. I really liked the one from yesterday. Today’s is a little out of my comfort zone – never have I put on mixed patterns before – but you know I might just have to try ? BTW I really enjoy the encouraging words, worship songs and scripture you add to your posts. It’s very uplifting.

  16. Love your style. I’m also excited about getting my ankle boots out and wearing them with my skinny jeans this fall.

  17. I really like the stripes paired with the leopard print scarf. I can’t wait to try that and also going to buy a utility jacket!

  18. Hi Cyndi! Love your blog and love this striped top. Especially like the side splits; keeps material from pulling across the belly. I am off to Old Navy!

  19. I’m a new visitor to your site and I LOVE it! As a Christian I love your daily Bible verses. And your fashionable style is spot on for me! I’ll be visiting daily for some more daily inspirational pieces as well as more fashion tips!

  20. I am loving the utility jacket and ankle boots! I’ve never tried ankle boots before – I might have to this fall! Love your blog Cyndi. 🙂

  21. Cyndi, you are a bad influence, ha!! I often run out and buy what you are wearing! Thanks to you and Jo-Lynne for allyou do, the Facebook page has been great fun!

  22. I love your looks. I’m thinking I might have to get a utility vest or jacket this fall. I already have an olive-toned poncho, but the utility gives another look, and seems very denim friendly. Just also want to mention the constant enjoyment and encouragement I find on your blog, Cyndi. Blessings!

  23. Hi Cyndi,
Love this outfit, and you are looking very chic in it!!! And since I recently bought a khaki green jacket for the Fall, and already have a blue stripped blouse and jeans and similar booties, I will match this outfit this Fall. 🙂 Love the first days outfit!! Thumbs Up!

  24. Hi Cyndi, I’ve been eyeing that tunic at Old Navy for over a week. When I saw your post this morning, I knew I had to go get it today, or they would sell out. Surprisingly, it’s very light weight, which is perfect for me in Texas. Thanks for a great styling idea. ?

  25. You had me at stripes 🙂

For me, this is the perfect first outfit! Because of this blog, I added leopard print and a utility jacket to my wardrobe late last winter 🙂 I’ve not yet worn the combo you’re modeling for us today but I can’t wait to try it myself now. If only the 90 degree days would move on…

  26. Love to think about wearing fall fashion! I’ll even be able to put together a very similar outfit of stripes & leopard. But not today, or this week even; my classroom is not air-conditioned and we seem to be getting one more heat wave in Chicago : ( Thanks for the inspiration & the opportunity to win a Nordstrom gc!

  27. Love the leopard scarf with the striped tunic! I would have NEVER thought of mixing those 2 patterns, but I love this! Oh how I wish I could wear scarves- but also, living in south Florida it will have to wait until January or February! I will be sure to remember this look!

  28. I’m excited to see what you have for us for fall. As a school teacher, I’m not able to wear jeans so I would love to see some outfits paired with something other than jeans. Thanks for sharing your gift!

  29. I purchased this tunic at Old Navy, which was the last one in the store. I have a leopard scarf and recently purchased a military jacket at Aeropostle at 50% off a couple of weeks ago. I wouldn’t have thought of putting all of these together. Cute outfit and the tunic is very comfy! Thanks for the inspiration!

  30. Would have never thought of combining a stripe with the leopard print but it works!! This is why I follow you 🙂

  31. I wore a similar outfit 2 years ago to my college homecoming game, except I wore distressed jeans and rocked it with a pair of leopard print heels.
    Lots of compliments.
Will be wearing it for fall this year.

  32. I have to say it’s still pretty warm in Texas but your post sure does help get me in the mood for fall fashion. I love and I’m getting, the striped tunic. I have one similar and wore it a lot so I can use a fresh one this fall. Thanks for sharing!

  33. Love your style. Simple but so pretty and fashionable. I’ve gotten several ideas from you. Especially mixing leopard prints with everything. Never thought of it as a neutral, but now I mix it with everything too!

  34. I love the mixing of patterns. I have the scarf and a similar striped top. I will have to put them together. Thank you for the great idea.

  35. I have a striped shirt, leopard print scarf, and similar jacket…I’m going to have to put it all together now. You look great!

  36. I would never have thought to combine stripes and leopard print, but I love it! Looks fantastic. Will definitely give this a try. Also liked jeans rolled up with ankle boots. Must try that also!

  37. I love the fall outfit you modeled today. I will be looking for the striped shirt at Old Navy! Can’t wait to see the next one!!

  38. I love the outfit today. Had to order the striped tunic, but I’ve had that same scarf for a while. Can’t wait to put a similar look together. Blessings to you, Cyndi!

  39. Love this outfit!! I never would have put the leopard scarf with a striped top but I LOVE IT!! WIll be shopping at Old Navy soon!!

  40. Love the whole outfit. I stopped at Old Navy today and bought the Navy tunic.the weather is still pretty hot in South Georgia but, I’ll be ready when the temperature cools down a bit

  41. Love the way you mixed the patterned scarf and the stripes top! I would not have thought to mix the two.
Looking forward to seeing the falls fashions!

  42. I like the fac the sleeves look 3/4. I could definitely wear the tunic on a chilly day (lol) in Florida. I like that Old Navy has extended sizes.
    Thank you

  43. I love ankle boots too. Saw the cutest pair at Nordstrom today but they were a little spendy. One can look and enjoy <3

  44. Love ankle boots too. Saw the cutest pair at Nordstrom today but a bit pricey for me. Hoping to find something similar in my price range.

  45. What a cute outfit for Fall! You are so inspiring and I love that some of your pieces came from Old Navy! Can’t wait to see more cute things for Fall.

  46. Love the stripe tunic & animal print scarf! I wish I would have read this in the morning…just got home from shopping & I was actually in ON. I rarely ever shop there, but was looking for a gingham top. I WANT THE TUNIC! May have to make another trip 🙂 Love following you & Jo-Lynne…the fall fashion is off to a great start.

  47. Love the cute outfit! I’m thinking I’m going to have to visit my local Old Navy to check out that top! I LOVE you fashion posts! I feel like I get in a BIG rut sometimes with my daily fashion choices…I love putting together outfits and it makes me feel better about my day when I am rocking a cute outfit (or at least I think I am!) Lol! Thank you for the chance to win a Nordstrom gift card….that would come in super handy this fall when it’s time for a new jacket or pair of boots!

  48. Love this so much! Went to Old Navy and bought the shirt and a similar scarf. It will be a while before Fall really hits Florida, but I’m so excited. I also bought a shirt for my daughter and I think it will work well for her for work. Yay! Thank you!

  49. OMG – just bought this top last Friday! I was thinking of wearing it with cropped leggings and cute flats BUT I love it paired with jeans and booties too! Thanks for sharing

  50. Cute first day of fall outfit ! Looking forward to your outfits the rest of the month! Nordstrom gift card would be very nice.

  51. I love scarfs! Never tried it with stripes. I will now! Would also like to get some ankle boots this year. Thanks, Cindi

  52. Just bought these jeans at Nordstroms….LOVE them, they are so soft and comfy! I need to get the olive utility jacket, then I think I will have everything for a similar look! Thanks Cyndi!

  53. So excited about this series! I bought an olive utility jacket a few months ago and am surprised at how much I enjoy it; I had never worn olive before.

  54. Cyndi, I am a 30 something & love your blog!! I think your style is timeless & classic! I always enjoy sipping my coffee & reading your blog!! I would love to see some pants/leggings outfits that are comfy yet stylish to throw on to go the early morning kids soccer games or Saturday activities. Thanks so much!

  55. I love the striped tunic from old navy. I bought something similar at JCP but I think I want to go get this instead. I know I better hurry. Love the first outfit. Looking forward to the next ones. It is too hot to wear fall clothes this week as it is almost 90 degrees today in Minneapolis. But I can wait love the warm weather while it is here.

  56. Your confidence in putting together different patterns definitely shines through. I need to obtain that confidence! Will my blue jean jacket work in place of a utility jacket? I don’t have the need for both of them.

    God bless!

  57. I love the entire outfit. I recently bought a utility jacket similar to yours at Forever 21 for $21. I love it! I love both of your blogs and am a newish follower to both.

  58. It’s the beginning of ‘thinking’ about fall – SO hard to believe!!! Here in Minnesota we have our State Fair, apple orchards are open for picking, my hummingbirds are starting to leave, it’s VERY hot for the first days of school, and so many trees are starting to change colors!!! They are predicting that the fall color will be one of the best we’ve had for a long time, so fall fashions are right in step!! I am excited to start wearing boots again, and I picked up a beautiful jacket, much like yours, at LLBean this summer, which I probably will LIVE in this fall!!! Can’t wait to see all the trends and fashions you’ve come up with for this beautiful season – have a GREAT week Cyndi!!

  59. I love your Blog!!! I love the outfits and your encouraging words. I pulled everything from my closet to make this outfit…. all I need is the scarf !! I also need the bracelet. I love the way the accessory pieces pull together an outfit. So many of the websites and catalogs leave the accessory pieces out of the picture…. keep up the Great Work 🙂 May God Bless You…

  60. I love the striped tunic. My son’s plays football and his school colors are black, white, and gold. This top will be perfect for Friday night football games!

  61. I’m ready for some boot & sweater weather, but afraid that’ll have to wait…we’re still in the mid-90’s in SE Oklahoma!

  62. I love pattern mixing! I bought a similar utility jacket at JCPenney, and I wish it had been available in a Tall size. I’m SO long-waisted that jackets often fit me just a little wonky! I like the length and fit of yours. Perfect!

  63. Love this look Cyndi! I have the jacket and a similar scarf already. I’m going to try those boots for the first time this year. A Nordstrom gift card would help me out! Thanks!

  64. Thank you for showing how it’s ok to mix patterns like the striped tunic with leopard print scarf. Looks great. I also love the inspiring messages you provide with each post.

  65. Looks great! I’m looking forward to wearing my version of this in the coming weeks. Mine is almost the same, but with a utility vest instead of the jacket. Thanks!

  66. I started follow you blog a little over a year ago. I love you style and your Sunday encouragement post.
I could always use a Nordstrom gift card to up date my style 🙂

  67. Oh how I love me some stripes. Unfortunately for me, winter is still at least 2-3 months out and we only get about two months of it in AZ . I will still be living in shorts and flip flops for at least another month.

  68. So glad to see you wearing the cargo jacket. I, too, bought one last spring. I was wondering how the fit is …now I know. Thanks

  69. Cyndi, I love this outfit although it’s 90 degrees here today so none of it would work in this weather. I can’t wait for fall and to see what else you’ll be styling.

  70. Love the boots! Might have to get some as I have everything else to put this outfit together. Thanks for the inspiration.

  71. I am so exited about this 26 days of Fall outfits! Your first one today is so perfect! I love the stripes and leopard together and with booties and jeans, it looks fantastic! The utility jacket is a great addition when we finally start cooling down her in Houston! Thank you Cyndi! I love your blog and can’t wait for my email to arrive everyday from you!

  72. Love this combo!! I actually put that tunic in my shopping cart the first time you posted it but totally forgot! ? Bet it’s gone now!

  73. Love this post. I bought the same tunic a couple of weeks ago. I like the way you are wearing this outfit today. Love the scarf too and I see your fall decoration. Sweet!

  74. I love the boots. I think I am going to purchase some. It’s not something I have worn in the past but I am excited to update my look. Thanks!

  75. Looking good!♡ I did a similar striped top this past spring with a floral scarf from Old Navy. I might have to switch it out for a plaid one for fall….and of course booties!! (Instead of flip flops.)

  76. I’ve never thought about stripes and animal print together, but I really like how it looks!! I’m going to look for this tunic at Old Navy. The olive green color is going to be big, I hear!
I’m so ready for Fall and the wardrobe change that comes with it!! So excited to see more Fall Styles!!

  77. Love your starting look! Stripes and leopard are favorites of mine as well. Can’t wait to see what the rest of the month holds!

  78. Love the striped tunic and just purchased it. I already have the rest of the pieces and look forward to putting this outfit together. Really love this look a lot!!

  79. I am so ready for fall too, but where I live in California, it is still in the 90’s! But in my mind, September marks fall, ready for a change of outfits and decorations! Love the ankle boots!

  80. Loving your outfit! Can’t wait for cooler weather. I just bought a print scarf kind of like yours. Love the idea for how to pair it.

  81. I have this top and love it. I like how you styled it with the leopard scarf. It will be a great Fall transition piece.

  82. I love the casual look you created. So simple yet so clean and appealing. I looked in my closet to see what I already have and found similar items to give me that pulled together look.
Ankle boots are high on the gotta buy list, since my new beige ones were borrowed by my grand daughter.

  83. So excited your 26 Days of Fall Fashion is finally here, Fall is my favorite time of year! This is a really cute outfit, love the striped tunic, I really have got to get to Old Navy. Have a great day!?

  84. I love this outfit on you. However, do you have another suggestion for us larger gals that won’t go near stripes…lol?

  85. I so enjoy both of your blogs–I need them every day! It’s an addiction???. Thank you for the scripture & words of encouragement. Most of all, thank you for the style advice & dressing our age in a sensible classy way!

  86. now this is an outfit I can do! I was not aware of these tunics at Old Navy and I will jump and grab them. I’m finding it hard to find cute shirts long enough so these are great. Thanks for sharing!

  87. Cyndi – how do you decide when to roll your jeans like pictured here and when to tuck your jeans in your boots?

  88. I love the beauty for the heart today…I keep my eyes always on the Lord. Great reminder! Loving the stripes with the olive jacket!

  89. Hi Cyndi, I am excited about your 26 Days of Fall! You started out with a bang with this outfit! The mix of prints adds great visual interest. At the same time I like how you anchored the look with the jeans and neutral colored booties. The jacket is a perfect fall piece because it draws on the olive green trend…love it all!

  90. I have that top from Old Navy as well – I have not been able to wear it but I am super excited to finally be able to once it cools down !! Also, since sizes are limited, FYI, I am about 5’5 and 120 lbs and I sized up to a M and I feel it’s an OK fit (I like things on the looser side).

  91. I grabbed that tunic a few weeks ago Cyndi! I knew it wouldn’t be around long. 🙂 Love how you put the leopard with it.

  92. I’m really looking forward to these 26 days!! And today was a great start! I love this kind of look–so easy to pull off. I’ve never shopped at Nordstrom–don’t have a store within several hours. But I’m sure it wouldn’t be hard to spend $100 there is I would win. 🙂

  93. I love your advise on fashion! I read everyday to be sure I don’t miss something! Thank you for all the research you do to make us look good!

  94. I tend to be pretty “matchy” with my style and wouldn’t have put stripes and animal print together but I love this look and appreciate this post! Thanks for the inspiration.

  95. Well, I couldn’t help but smile…I bought the same tunic from Old Navy and the Utility jacket as well. I love mixing the scarf, I’m going to be brave and do it 😉
Love your blog Cindi!!! My BFF lives in Franklin, KY and so I always think of her when I read it (I guess just because I know you’re much closer to her than me geographically…I live in CA)
    Have a great day!!!

  96. Good morning Cyndi,
I am so excited about fall and the outfits that you are going to show.
I really like day 1, I have those pieces in my closet.
    Thanks

  97. Wish we had an old navy in my town. I plan to order the tunic online! I did purchase the boots last fall when you first mentioned them. Love love love the jacket!!! Hopefully I can find one soon. Thanks cyndi have a blessed day!

  98. This one of my favorite looks! I have just a few versions of the striped shirt? Can’t wait to see the fall looks you and Jo-lynne put together and to get my fall look on.

  99. I love this outfit. The colors and patterns would work on any shape. The skinny pants won’t work for me except in my dreams. I would wear a straight leg pant.

  100. I can’t ever find anything that fits at ON, but the tunic is cute!
Meanwhile, I’m not sold yet on the booties. Looks fine on you though.

  101. Looking forward to finding new pieces to add to my fall wardrobe. Following your blog and winning a Nordstrom gift card would be a great way to kick off fall!!

  102. Cyndi, you look so cute! I like stripes and leopard print together, it’s a fun look. I’m looking for an olive jacket like that for this fall. I love your style!

  103. LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS!!!!!! Why is it when I’m in Old Navy I. Ant see these outfits… I was just in there and everything I looked at didn’t look near as good as it does when you style it?!! Especially the boots/shoes! ???

    Thank you !!!
    Have a super blessed day!
    Joni

  104. What a perfect outfit to start with! I have similar items of each and will definitely put together as soon as the weather allows!

  105. I am still getting used to putting two different patterns together but I have to admit, I do like the look. You have such great ideas!!

  106. Love the tunic! It would be perfect for work! (Preschool Director)
I LOVE fall. However, it is in the 90’s all week here in INDY. You must
have been a little toasty in that outfit, Cyndi! Adorbs as always.

  107. I have that tunic from Old Navy but haven’t worn it yet. And I actually have that identical scarf – haha!! Love the two together!

  108. Love the outfits!

For some reason I can never enter the raffles. I try to click to make a comment and it doesn’t allow me to type anything in. Does anyone else have trouble with this? I must be doing something wrong

  109. I love this outfit esp the leopard print scarf and stripes. I can think of lots of fall events that would be great to wear an outfit like this to,
Thanks so much for your help in developing my fashion sense (because I had very little before!)

  110. I have the hardest time mixing strips and another pattern. I wish I could get over that! When I see the fashion on you it looks so good! I am still searching for a utility jacket. Hope I can find one! Way to start your fashion month! I love the outfit!

  111. Love the utility jacket. I got one last year and I can’t wait to start wearing it this fall; however, I’m in South GA so it will be a little longer.

  112. I love the striped top with the leopard print scarf. But my favorite is the jacket from the Loft. I would love to win the Nordstrom’s gift card.

    1. Love stripes and absolutely love your blog. God bless you as you share His love and Grace doing something you love. His hand is all over you and evident in this platform. Also in your face! Blessings.
