Fashion Friday-Camo Pants For Women Over 40

camo and tan 10Happy Friday friends! Today I’m keeping it casual with my camo pants from LOFT. I styled it with a cowl neck poncho from Old Navy.

I wear these camo pants all the time, sometimes I pair them with black and I also like them with burgundy.

I have told you before I sometimes find cute stuff at Old Navy and then at other times, not so much. What I do like about Old Navy is their price point. This cowl neck is on sale for $36.

camo and tan 5Some of the reviews said it was big but I think it’s supposed to be. 🙂 I’m wearing the XS/S in this poncho and I do still have plenty of room. (It’s supposed to 80 degrees here today before the bottom drops. When the weather gets colder, I’ll add a long sleeved top.)

camo and tanI have been wanting a light colored suede bootie and they have not been easy to find unless you’re willing to pay a pretty penny. I found these at Macy’s on sale so I grabbed them (they were still more than I wanted to pay). Some of the reviews say they are not comfortable but I have not had any problem.

My camo pants are the older version from LOFT. These are the newer ones and they are 60% off! I think you can get them for under $30. I may order them!!

We have a busy weekend ahead! The weather is supposed to be rainy and cool so I’m going to make a pot of chili!

Beauty For the Heart~~“Being in a hurry. Getting to the next thing without fully entering the thing in front of me. I cannot think of a single advantage I’ve ever gained from being in a hurry. But a thousand broken and missed things, tens of thousands, lie in the wake of all the rushing…. Through all that haste I thought I was making up time. It turns out I was throwing it away.” -Ann Voscamp

This weekend, let’s slow down and enjoy some of the simple things in life! Sip on some cider, hug someone a little tighter and savor the quiet moments.

Have a blessed day!

  1. Cyndi, love this fashion over 40 blog. It’s really helpful. The only thing is, you say sometimes you’re curvy. I don’t call you curvy. You’re like a size 4/6 max. That makes your adorable outfits a little hard to translate over to a 5’4″ size 12 woman. Maybe you have a curvier friend who could model to give some ideas for those of us a little fuller. Your blog is fantastic and absolutely fashion forward for over 40. It’s just I’d look fat in some of these outfits. Oh, and thanks for the fact that you’re a Christian and not shy about it. Such a plus these days. I will definitely share on my fb.

  2. I love the loft came pants. Can you ask them to bring them back for your readers?? I don’t care for the suggested ones. ;(

  3. HI! I’m a bit behind on my emails so I’m just now getting the “scoop” on the striped dress! I found it humorous that so many comments were based on the outside look…I love the first line on your site…Inspiring women to be beautiful from the inside out. Cyndi, I’m sure you have made the Lord proud to have you as His child. I’m in the over 50 age and absolutely love younger women, like yourself, that exhibit modesty and a sense of pride in the body God has given us. God has sent me so many blessings in my life. I’m glad you are one of them!
    Love and Prayers,
    Darlene

  4. Love the outfit ! As i was shopping for the camos at Loft, i noticed some snakeskin print skinnys on sale too; wondering whether you thought snakeskin patterned pants would be a good add to wardrobe? Im building right now so trying to get versatile pieces 🙂

  5. Love the poncho. I just bought a purple poncho from MIchael Kors. I thought it was too big, BUT my 20 year old said no it was just fine. According to her….big is the thing now.

  6. I love this outfit! I rushed to Old Navy today to find the poncho. They don’t carry it here. I just tried to find it online-but to no avail! Bummer! I love that poncho!

  7. I love this entire outfit Cyndi! I don’t think I have ever seen a women in NJ wear camo pants…maybe I can start a new trend !! HA!! 😉 have a great weekend

  8. Hi Cyndi,

I love your blog & your clothes style…yes, even the stripped dress:-) I have been wanting to buy some booties also so today I scored at Kohls. Bought 2 pair for $18. I had a $50 coupon, $20 Kohls cash & 15% off coupon. Love it when that happens. Have a wonderful weekend & God bless:-) Keep the fashion coming:-)

  9. Hi,
Hope you are doing well. Here in North Carolina it is 80 degrees. Loving it!
Tomorrow is our college almamata Homecoming football game. I plan to rock my camo pants with a red top black short leather jacket and some wedge heel ankle boots. A little cooler tomorrow 66.
I’m excited because we have several friends staying with us.
Just turned 52 and planning to reminisce about back in the day.
You look pretty in your camo.

  10. I have loved these camo pants since you styled them the first time! and could never find them in my size :(. any way – cute cute outfit for the weekend, in the south, in the fall. Looking forward to seeing Wayne stylin’ and profilin’ for the camera! You two seem like such a fun couple! Hope you have a great weekend and enjoy that chili! The rain is due in Knoxville on Sunday so I plan to enjoy the sunny day tomorrow doing something outside, and of course we have the big UT and Bama game – I’m not a fan of either so as they say “I dont’ have a dog in this fight”.

  11. Hi Cyndi, I absolutely LOVE your style. I start looking every morning for your post. I’m 57 and a lot bigger than you, (working on that), but try to copy style as best as I can with my size! Just wanted to tell you what an encouraging and beautiful person you are. So happy I found your blog!
    Blessings,
    Tami

  12. Cute outfit. What am I doing this weekend? Working…..pulling a couple extra shifts answering phones at the hospital where I work. Always always interesting…………

  13. Do you find suede upkeep a bit much, particularly in the part of the country you live in?? Maybe it is just my larger size that creates a bigger challenge……

  14. One of your cutest outfits, Cyndi! That’s why I love you in skinnies– you wear them very well.
Since you asked about the weekend, this weekend marks one week since my beloved hubby (who is a pastor) had open heart surgery. He is home now, but very weak, so prayer from any and all of your readers would be appreciated. You are a blessing! I read your blog while Hubs is sleeping.

  15. You inspired me to try camo! It’s not something I normally wear. However, I’m going to a Doe Party in a few weeks. (A “Doe Party” is a ladies get-together on the opening weekend of deer season. LOL) I have a tunic with a gold glitter deer head on it. I think the Loft camo pants would be PERFECT for this event!

Our weather is supposed to be very rainy this weekend too! Stay safe!!

    1. OH! I forgot! A week or so ago, on the Today show, two correspondents did a “yay” or “nay” on whether the iconic polo shirt should be retired from men’s wardrobes, like Ralph Lauren himself (who recently retired from his company). One said it should go away. The other said that it’s a classic. I’d like to see your take on that debate. : )

  16. Hi Cyndi,
I get excited each morning to see your new posts. I’m older and heavier now, in body but not heart, and transplanted from the south where we tend to “gussie up”, to the west, where for the most part, it’s not that big of a deal. You can take the girl out of the south, but you just can’t take that desire to look put together out of her! ( I do not mean to offend ANYONE here, just speaking from personal observations in my area and life style). I have shared your website with two of my beautiful nieces in Alabama who tend to dress the way that you style, and they are enjoying you too! I knew they would love you, and your heart, they and their husbands are very involved with the youth in their baptist churches.

  17. If you order the camo ones above, I’d love to see you style them. I think I like them. I’m just not sure. haha!
    🙂

  18. I’ve always been afraid to buy camo pants because I’m afraid I’m too old to wear them. But I love how you’ve styled them here, and it gives me hope that I can wear them after all! I will look around a bit before I buy any though, because I’m not digging the newer version from the Loft. I prefer the more toned down style that you’re wearing. Thanks for the inspiration!

    1. Regi, if you find any subtle camo pants, please let us know. Not loving the newer version, but I do want to see it in person.

  19. Hey Cyndi! You always look great in all outfits you style. That’s mainly because, I believe, that you really do present yourself with grace and elegance that comes from inside. The smile on your face and your love of God are both an inspiration. I know doing what you do opens you up to scrutiny and even critism that my come from your bloggers and maybe even your church family! So, stay courageous!!!! We need you!!!!

  20. Love the outfit! Looks great on you! I have been addicted your blog! I look forward to seeing you model a new outfit and knowing that you are a follower of Jesus makes it extra special! Thank you for sharing your style! It is an inspiration!

  21. I found a really cute pair of gray suede booties at Kohl’s, they also come in black. They are Sonoma brand and very comfortable! On sale for $34 plus there are always coupons!

  22. I’m too old to wear camo pants, but I love the ones you’re wearing with the cowl neck sweater, which I’m too hot to wear:) I’m not crazy about the “new” camo pants in the picture, but I love the ones you’re wearing because they’re so subtle. My daughter and daughter-in-law would look good in this outfit (another Christmas gift idea)! Thanks for all the inspiration. Looking forward to see what Mr. Spivey will be wearing next week!!

  23. I have only placed one order with Glamour Farms but have to agree, the customer service was fantastic! I am looking forward to wearing my items but it needs to get a bit cooler since it’s a turtleneck tunic with leggings. The sandals I got I LOVE! The stripes on the dress wouldn’t deter me from buying there again or recommending them. OCD people know who they are and stay away from ordering patterns that match up without seeing them in person! 🙂

Can’t wait to see the Men’s fashion next week! Thank you to your husband for being such a good sport too!

This weekend we are going to Michigan to pick up my girls. They have been at grandma’s all week for fall break. Definitely ready to see them! Have a great weekend!

  24. You rock anything girl 🙂

Looking forward to your men’s fashion tips next week. I like to dress up my handsome man.

    Make It A Great Weekend
    ~Lisa~

  25. LOVE the boots!!!! Was just pouring over the Old Navy site and love the cowl neck. Who knew we were supposed to keep all of our old sweaters and ponchos from grammar school?

  26. Cute! But I have a question? I have that badly broken ankle that is still healing (oh so much better) so I can’t wear heels……could you wear cute flats with it and still look trendy?

  27. I am happy to see that our guys will be able to benefit from some style intervention. My hubby is handsome but he likes what he likes. I want to up his game a little. He finally embraced a more current style of jeans thanks to a crazy good sale at Gap. I cant wait to see what you and your hubby have for our guys!
