Beauty for the Heart-Good Good Father

Grace & BeautyMost of my Sunday posts come from something God has been teaching me during the week or something I have read or heard that touched me.

This past week I heard the song by Chris Tomlin called Good Good Father. It’s such a sweet song about God and His love for us.

I like to hear the story behind a song. I saw a video on youtube with the song writer talking with Chris Tomlin about the song Good Good Father.

He wanted those who listened to the song to know that God is a God that is intimate with us. He’s not a big God in the sky that’s not involved in our lives.

Oh that we could understand and know that God is faithful to us! Psalm 100:5 in The Message says, For God is sheer beauty, all-generous in love, loyal always and ever.

When our grandson, Colt, stays all night with us, we have a bedtime ritual that ends with us singing a song together in his bed before I turn out the light.

We sing everything from Jesus Loves Me to Our God is an Awesome God by Rich Mullins. Good Good Father is a song I want to teach him.

What a wonderful way for Colt to fall asleep thinking about his Good Good Father. If I can teach him anything, I want it to be how much he is loved by God.

Write these commandments that I’ve given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night. Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder; inscribe them on the doorposts of your homes and on your city gates. Deut. 6:7-9 (The Message)

Enjoy!

Oh, I’ve heard a thousand stories of what they think you’re like
but I’ve heard the tender whisper
of love in the dead of night
You tell me that you’re pleased
and that I’m never alone

You’re a Good, Good Father
It’s who you are, It’s who you are,
It’s who you are
and I’m loved by you
It’s who I am, It’s who I am,
It’s who I am

I’ve seen many searching
for answers far and wide
But I know
we’re all searching for answers only you provide
Because you know
just what we need
before we say a word

You’re a Good, Good Father
It’s who you are, It’s who you are,
It’s who you are
and I’m loved by you
It’s who I am, It’s who I am,
It’s who I am

You are perfect in all of your ways
You are perfect in all of your ways
You are perfect in all of your ways to us

You are perfect in all of your ways
You are perfect in all of your ways
You are perfect in all of your ways to us

Oh it’s Love so undeniable
I, I can hardly speak
Peace so Unexplainable
I, I can hardly think
As you call me deeper still
as you call me deeper still
as you call me deeper still into love love love

You’re a Good, Good Father
It’s who you are, It’s who you are,
It’s who you are
and I’m loved by you
It’s who I am, It’s who I am,
It’s who I am

Because You are perfect in all of your ways
You are perfect in all of your ways
You are perfect in all of your ways to us

You are perfect in all of your ways
You are perfect in all of your ways
You are perfect in all of your ways to us

Always perfect in all of your ways
You are perfect in all of your ways
You are perfect in all of your ways to us

You are perfect in all of your ways
You are perfect in all of your ways
You are perfect in all of your ways to us

You’re a Good, Good Father
It’s who you are, It’s who you are,
It’s who you are
and I’m loved by you
It’s who I am, It’s who I am,
It’s who I am

Have a blessed Sunday!

  1. I listen to this on my way to work a lot-it reminds me that God is with me and is so good to me always -even in the stressful days! Thanks for the reminder!

  2. Great message Cyndi! We are blessed to have such a loving and caring Father. Colt is blessed to have the two of you in his life.

    Have a blessed week!

  3. I love you posts. And emails. It’s so great to see your a Christian that loves our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Also I loved the blue/white striped dress was very cute in you

  4. It’s so amazing that such a Holy God loves us so much! When we can allow our finite minds to comprehend even a small amount of how much He loves us; it’s simply beautiful and it’s by His design.

  5. Beautiful song Cyndi. Thx for sharing this today. I was happily reminded of the many times I sang with my kids before bed too. Especially my daughter, the youngest, loved to sing, “I love you Lord” Colt is very blessed to have a Godly “Cici” in his life! What awesome memories you are making with him. Have a blessed Sunday…. P.S. I am looking forward to “seeing” Mr. Spivey model for us this week 😉
