Casual Holiday Dress -25 Days of Winter Fashion (Day 15)

grey dress and bootsIt’s Day 15 of 25 Days of Winter Fashion! Today I’m sharing a casual holiday dress that I’m wearing to a Christmas party next week.

I have so many get togethers in the next few weeks so I thought I would share outfits during the 25 Days of Winter Fashion that I’m going to wear.

This swing dress from Old Navy is perfect for my party. I love wearing casual dresses especially when they’re comfortable enough to wear all day. Did I mention it’s on sale for $26?!

Beauty For the Heart~~Last night in Bible Study, we talked about some verses in Titus. The end of Titus 2:14 caught my attention.

While we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

If we are to be like Christ, we need to be eager to do good. Can we all admit, we need to do good in this world!

Today, let’s be women that are eager to do good. With our family, with our friends and with strangers we meet.

Have a blessed day!

Tell Me What You Think! leave a comment...

  1. This is so cute. I ordered it in a medium but it looks frumpy. Did you order a petite small or just a small. Wondering if I need a petite? I am 5’5″ and don’t normally order petite. Thanks

  2. This is such a cute look! I have to tell you, I am thoroughly enjoying all of your blog posts! Thank you for your investment in people. The encouragement and inspiration are precious to me!

Are the boots you are wearing in this post black suede? The link to the Chinese Laundry boots look a little more like slouch type boots, just wondering is that what you have on in this picture?

    Sincerely, Amy

    1. Hey Amy, I have on Chinese Laundry black boots but they’re from last year. The link I’m sharing is Chinese Laundry but it’s this years version. I think it’s very close and they do have good reviews.
      Hope that helps!!

  3. Super cute – I talked my co-worker (great friend) into this from Old Navy about a month ago (since I seem to have scooped up every other dress from Old Navy this season). It is super cute on her – as it is on you 🙂 I am thinking I might need the blue one…..lol.

  4. Hi Cyndi,
I love you in that cute swing dress! If you love red and green for Christmas, this year is a big year for pairing gray with red(especially the deep wine reds-which are big this year) will be the beauty of each party!
I always love your…. Beauty for the Heart…
I’m going through “The Baptist Bread” each morning and love todays quote by T.W. – “Regardless of what your problem might be, Christ is always the ONLY way out.”
    1 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV)
13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

  5. Love this look! Ordered in the blue! Looking forward to receiving in time for afternoon open house during holidays!!! Thanks!

  6. Hi Cyndi,

You are such an inspiration. Your style for today is definitely a winner! I just ordered the dress for myself.

  7. That is super cute on you! Cyndi, thank you for your words of encouragement and for your ministry. Each day I look forward to reading your post 💕.

  8. Is this a small in reg or petite? Both are listed on their website. I think we are about the same size if I remember from one of your previous posts;)

    1. This is a small in petite. It fits me really good but if anyone is bustier (is that a word??) I think the small would be tight.
      Hope that helps!!
      Cyndi

        1. Just got my dresses–ordered the gray and rust. Fit absolutely perfect! I ordered petite small. You replied to me that you ordered a sm petite too, but I just noticed that earlier today you replied to someone that you did NOT order a petite! It was a comment at 10:33 on 12/14. May want to clarify for her 🙂

  9. I saw this dress at Old Navy and wondered how it looked on. You wear it very well. I will have to go back over there and give it a try.

  10. P.S. The gray also looks good with brown. I know you’re just showing what YOU wore, I’m just throwing out more options. That’s always my problem: too many options to choose from! 🙂

    1. Teresa you read me mind. I wanted to style it with brown boots and a plaid scarf with some tan in it. That would be a more casual look but still super cute!!
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  11. Really cute! I’d love to see it without the scarf or a less heavy one incorporating a bit of gray, and I’m a scarf person! I’ve had a similar dress for years and sometimes wear it belted and also with strapped chunky heeled shoes for another look. Your zipped boots would also be great. I’m so enjoying everything about these posts.

  12. Hi Cyndi, I love this look, it’s finally getting cold enough here in Alabama to dress like this! I just sent you an email to check out another cute top from JC Penneys. I ordered the one you styled a few weeks ago (khaki sweater look with attached white shirt at bottom) and love it so much that when I found the black and white one I ordered it too. It’s really cute. I’m going to wear it with black leggings and black boots (also with skinny jeans too). As always thanks for the inspiration. (P.S. I’m gracioussouthernliving on IG)

  13. Really like your outfit, the dress looks so comfortable and looks so nice on you! Thank you for Beauty for the Heart today, I try to live like this, but it’s a good reminder for all of us! Have a great day!😍

  14. Really cute on you and I may have to go try this on. These style dresses tend to look like maternity wear on me – 5’2, and at 52 no one needs to even think I may be “with child” LOL!!
I liked one of the comments about adding a red purse b/c I too love red during the holidays, of course you wouldn’t know it b/c I only have one red sweater. I may have to work on that today :-).
Always feel encouraged with your words – you keep it real, which makes you extra special in my book. Keeping spreading His word Cyndi!

    1. Sharon I think the taller the better with these dresses. I’m 5’6″. My husband said it looked maternity, but he likes more fitted dresses. Ha!!
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

      1. I was thinking the same thing as Sharon. I see these cute outfits and then try it on and it just not flattering. Looks adorable on you though! And so comfy too!

  15. You are so right Cyndi. Evil does not win. We have victory in Christ! Gods plans are perfect. We just have to trust them 😉 … Your outfit looks great. You could always add a red handbag if you’re having withdrawals… Lol !

  16. I’m wondering how it will look on my size 14, 56 year old frame.
    Tights? Leggings?
Hmmm…just love the look and the comfort…

  17. As always, you look FABULOUS! But, I honestly loved your GOOD WORD about evil not winning in the end and all GLory be to GOD, that YES and YES, there will come a glorious day when all things will be set right. The great day of our LORD’s return. Thanks for being so true to his word, such an encouragement.!! 🙂

  18. That dress “knocks it out of the park” today! So cute and with warm leggings, toooo cute and with the jewelry, scarf, and boots, perfection! And you could add red into the mix if you wanted too because at Christmas you can’t have enough red, can you? 😉
Lets all strive to “do good” both today and always……

  19. I really like the tunic dress and the way you styled it Cyndi! I just might have to order one. I am curious about the fabric content and care instructions. No holiday parties fir us. We will get together with our best friends and then our son & his family. Yes, I too am praying for all of the families impacted by the tragedy in CA! God bless!

  20. I just ordered this dress and it’s an additional 30% off today only with the online code WOW. Bringing the price down to $18.20!! Can’t wait to get it!!

      1. I used the WOW code successfully, and they also have it in a pretty copper color as well! That’s the one I ordered. Thank you!

  21. Are you wearing any thing underneath ? i am wondering if it will be drafty or just a bit chilly and Since i am on the tall side , this may be a great tunic for me … i will go check it out,,,thanks

    1. You made me laugh, umm…. yes I’m wearing something under it. 🙂 But I think you might mean a slip?? I’m not wearing a slip, it’s not see through and I’m not wearing a tank but I could easily add a tank for warmth.
      Hope that helps!!
      Cyndi

  22. I LOVE this dress too….remind me again how tall you are. I’m 5’7″ and fairly long legs and I always get concerned that a dress like this ends up being too short looking but I guess when paired with thick tights/leggings less so. Thanks!

  23. Good morning!!
I have this dress and LOVE it!! I wore it the other day to work and styled it just like you did. So comfy and work appropriate at the same time.
    Blessings, Andrea
