Winter Fashion-3 Styles of Boots

Winter Fashion-3 Styles of BootsHappy hump day!! Today I’m sharing 3 styles of boots. I personally like to wear a boot or shoe that has a slight heel. I like to add some height.

My favorite black boot is this wedge boot I purchased last winter. These are comfortable enough to wear all day!

Winter Fashion-3 Styles of BootsMy second favorite pair are these black boots from Payless. They are an over the knee boot. They don’t have a heel but I still like them and wear them all the time.

Winter Fashion-3 Styles of BootsLastly, I purchased these short boots from Target. To be honest, I haven’t worn them yet because every time I put them on, I’m not crazy about them.

Winter Fashion-3 Styles of BootsIf they had a wedge heel, I think I would like them better.

What do you think about the short boot? Yay or nay??

  1. Cyndi,

The short boots are adorable. The entire outfit is great – Love it! You look “put together,” but comfortable, at the same time. (My favorite way to be!)

I think you should definitely wear them…Unless you really don’t love them….But, what’s not to love?!

  2. I know you’ve already had a ton of opinions on the shorter boots, but here’s mine also. They look great! I think it’s nice to have variety in your clothing items, and these fit the bill. I don’t believe we have to look “perfect” since it’s really what’s on the inside that counts. Of course we should always try to look good…it’s just that perfection is unobtainable in my eyes! So wear the boots…and I bet the more you wear them, the more you’ll grow to love them! jodie

  3. This may make very little sense to others, but to me, each person has their own “style personality”. Beyond what looks good on your body type and what’s currently in-style or what’s age appropriate, there is something that’s hard to define that makes up your unique style personality. To me, that’s why some things look so great on one person and just okay on another. Perhaps tall boots are more your style personality, Cyndi, or if they’re short, then boots with heels. That may be why you aren’t drawn to these booties even though they look fine. Just a thought!

  4. I think those ankle boots are adorable. I wonder if they still have them.?They look cute on you. I have a pair of similar grey ones that I run around in all the time. You can wear anything and it looks good on you so I say go with them. They are plain so you can probably have them for a couple of years without feeling like they are out of style! Have a great day! I love your blog Cyndi!

  5. Love your blog. Love boot weather too. However I am not a huge fan of short boots either unless they are shoe boots. Love a wedged hill too, and I am 5’6″ too. Height is always a great way to look a little thinner…lol

Stop on by my blog and say hello.

  6. I agree with most. I love all the boots and I think the reason you Are hesitant is the contrast between the colour of your pants and the black. Try them with a pair of black leggings and one of your beautiful tunics in any colour. You will love them more!

  7. Hey Cyndi Girl! Those short boots look crazy cute on you! Love the outfit and handbag you’ve put with them, you look so stylish. Wear those boots!
Love that wedge boot, I remember you showing that before and I thought they were the cutest things ever. You’ve got just the right length of leg for wearing a high boot.

My daughter and I are both 5’2″, but our height is distributed differently. She has longer legs than I do and I have my height through my torso. She has some of the cutest high boots that look so great on her, but on me, they come up so high, they get in the “knee crease”??
on the back of my leg and rub there. Oh well, I’ve got challenged legs :).
    Be blessed!

  8. Love the wedge boots. The shorter boots have more of a moto feel to them, so I think paired with distressed jeans and/or leggings would be better. Just my opinion. You are always beautiful.

  9. I really like the short boots on you. Of course the other boots look great too. Maybe if you tried black or gray pants you might like them better.

  10. I REALLY like the short boots. You’re legs are thin and long enough to make it work and they are SO stylish!!!

  11. I like the short boots the most! They are modern and sassy. However, if you don’t feel that way when you wear them–you won’t wear them.

  12. Recently I was thinking about my black suede slouchy boots, Jamie from JC penney. I’ve had them two years and actually tried to find navy ones last year. I was wondering if they were out of style. Your photo with the slouchy boots reassures me that they’re not. I would recommend the Jamie boot. It comes in real suede leather and several colors and has been around for several years.

  13. I am with some other commenters–the short boot is that awkward in between height that sort of visually shortens a girl’s leg. If you like the shoe part, you could wear your pants over it instead of tucking in.

    1. Funny, I think the complete opposite. I think a regular boot shortens the leg, especially when it’s a different color, it chops up the the leg into pieces – , thigh, lower leg…. The black pants with the black boot is the most slimming. I think the short boot is adorable but then I do like flats. I think it may be because it’s a different color? But then, you certainly wouldn’t wear red boots so that’s not an option. I like how you can see the zipper on your pants. If you’re not comfortable, you’re not going to wear it, no matter what everyone says.

  14. I am with Bobbi. If more folks would use her method there would be more money in our purses and less clutter in our closets. Hmmmm what to do with that extra cash during the time saved from not having to declutter !!
really like your beauty of the heart and it is so nice to be able to share it with friends and family who are not in the position of being able to be online.
Also, can you imagine what the folks who are trying to get the Hope book distributed to all the ladies signed up for your study are doing ??

  15. I think the reason that I don’t like these boots very well is that they are taller than the “bootie” version of short boots. The top looks a couple inches higher than a “bootie”. I vote no. 🙂

  16. I really like the short boots. They look super cute on. I prefer taller boots myself most of the time but the short ones make a cute stylish change at times. Wish my pants would stay inside the short boots like yours do. Great outfit!

  17. I like the short boots, but I agree that if you’re not sure you probably won’t wear them. I’m also a fan of some kind of heel but I like my short boots that are flat too-depends on the outfit and what I’m doing! Hope the feedback helps.

  18. I like all 3 of them. Great deal on the boot from Payless. How you decide when to wear the wedges and when to wear the over the knee boot ?

  19. You are probably really confused now with all the different comments. 🙂 I do like the short boots on you but I would weigh how much I liked and would wear them and also how much you paid for them vs what everyone said. If you feel like you don’t really need them and would wear your other boots more – take them back. Does that make sense. Ha.

  20. I love them and have two pair very much like them in taupe and black. To me, this boot gives a very relaxed and casual look to your outfit. Sometimes I like that. It just depends where I’m going that day and what I’m doing. I have gotten compliments when I wear them. I vote keep them and give them a try.

  21. I think if you need to ask, the answer should be no. If you put them on and LOVED them, you wouldn’t have even asked you would be gushing over them. To me, you answered your own question.

      1. If they don’t make you feel pretty then I say no. I talked myself in to a pair of boots a couple of years ago, and have never worn them. I put them on but they just don’t “feel” like me.

  22. I think you look cute as can be with all three outfits, but I really don’t care for this particular short boot. I have many things that I wonder why I bought them??? The boots look fine with your cute outfit, but booties would look way cuter 🙂
Thanks for your blog and God Bless!

  23. I like them all and have several pair of boots that are comparable in style and color. I bought a pair of the short boots and I pair them with jeans and boot cuffs as they are casual. The boot cuff provides a nice bit of color and compliments the boot height. I would not wear with skirts or dresses. Always enjoy your posts.

  24. I do like the boots, but I do agree that a higher heel or wedge would be nice! I am height challenged, too! 🙂 My motto is, “If you do not love something when you first put it on, then do NOT buy it”!!! This comes with many years of experience (I am in my 50’s!) I have had too many things in my closet that have had tags on them and I never wore them!! Just saying!

    Blessings to you and yours!

  25. I do like the short boots. I have a pair that I wore all winter last year. I didn’t wear with skinny jeans though and they would get caught on my pants leg. I do have skinnies now and they are fine. I just bought the regular boot for the first time in years and I love them. I’m not young(66), and my husband doesn’t like change so I have had to work into skinny jeans and boots very slowly so he want freak out. Thank you so much for your blog. You are an inspiration to me.

  26. Love the short boots. Make your legs look longer in pants. Must admit I don’t like them with dresses, they seem to make anyone’s legs look like stumps.

  27. I don’t like to give any negative comments, but since you asked . . . I don’t care for the short boots. I would put them on, say I feel like a pirate, my husband would laugh at me and I’d take them off. If you have to try to convince yourself you like something you don’t really like it and will never feel cute and let’s face it we all want to feel cute.

  28. I love the short boots – I’ve got several in a variety of heel styles. I’m not a wedge lover, on me especially. I’ve decided I have to wear what I’m comfortable with – not what somebody else tells me they like!
I enjoy reading your blog and seeing what you are wearing. It often gives me new ideas!!!
    Thanks!

  29. I think the ankle boots look great on you. Comparing the 3 photos side-by-side, the shorter boots seem to make your legs look longer and slimmer (not that they don’t look great in the other ones too)!

  30. The rule is… if you’re not crazy about them now, you won’t be anymore in love with them later. So, my vote is to return them. Hope this helps.

  31. I love the short boots. They give a whole different look, maybe more casual. I am 5’5 and I love my tall and short boots. It really depends on my mood as I feel more casual in the short boots and a little bit more dressed and polished in the taller boot. I feel for me, there’s a tine and place for each of them.

  32. I love the short boots. I have been eyeing a pair myself. I think they really compliment your figure, but like the other girls, if you don’t think you will wear them………

  33. I like short boots and booties. I think maybe you would like a short bootie with a little bit of a heel. And as someone else said, if I try something on at home and keep taking it off and not wearing it… it is time to return it!

  34. I love boots! I was just thinking yesterday that you need to style one outfit with 5-7 different style boots/shoes to show how they (along with accessories) can transform any outfit! If you don’t love the short boots, take them back now! I ordered a super cute (& expensive) pair of Ugg wedges (I love my comfort). They were just too tight on my feet after I wore them all day-I gave them to my sister and she loves them now! I was just glad someone was getting some use out of my error.:(

  35. Hey girl! The short boots look great on you but I totally get it! I love a wedge boot myself. Not surprised I have the gray sweater and wine colored pant outfit! 😊

  36. Hey girl, love your blog! I like short boots, but my rule is if I put something new on to wear it and take it off, I return bc chances are, I will take them off every time. They may just not be for you. While I like short boots, I have found they are difficult to find a good pair.

  37. Hi Cyndi
I love all of the boots. I think they look very nice on you. I understand liking a bit of a heel, but at 5’6″ I don’t believe added height is a necessity all the time. I’d say keep them OR send them my way!!
    Blessings,
    Doreen

  38. Hi Cyndi! I really like the black wedge boots!!! Super cute! If you’ve had the short ones a while and haven’t worn them…take them back. No need to have that money just sitting on the shelf. I have 2 pairs of short “booties” I really like, but it took me over 2 years to find them. Patience pays off. Keep looking 😉 Love the gray sweater too! (I just ordered a bunch of stuff from LOFT, wish I’d seen that sweater on you before I ordered)

  39. I would love those boots. I am only 5′ tall, and I love a short, flat boot. Unfortunately, I wear a size 5! Hard to find! But the boots do look good on you…

  40. I think taller boots look really good on you. The short ones don’t look bad, though. I think I look better in short boots because I”m only 5’3″–they show more leg. Us shorts have to be careful with tall boots–we could end up looking like a horse jockey! Since you have a few inches on me you can pull the taller boots off with worrying if you just have a couple inches of leg showing. OTK boots just aren’t an option for me–that’s for sure!

  41. I have to admit I feel so much better about my outfit today since I opened your blog email…I too have one a gray sweater with “cranberry” jeans…wasn’t sure what shoes to wear (I don’t have any boots…) so I put on black socks and my black flats. Wasn’t sure how it all coordinated, but seeing that you paired your outfit with black, I think I did pretty good! 🙂
Quick question – a friend gave me a beautiful necklace for Christmas, but I’m not sure what to wear it with – is there any way I could send you a picture of it and you can help me decide what type/color outfit to wear it with?!?!?
    Love your blog…
    Shannon

  42. I like the short boot even with out a wedge heel. I think they look more youthful or more fashionable. While I love a wedge because of the comfort they give, my 25 year old daughter won’t have a thing to do with them…she says wedges are for older women…well, maybe they are…I’m still wearing them bc they work for ME! I love how you embrace trying stuff and ask us for our opinions too! You always do a great job!

  43. I purchased those over the knee boots from payless on your recommendation and I haven’t worn them. how do they look when you sit down? I think they look great standing up – but not sure about when you sit down (I work at a desk all day).

  44. Glad I have a chance to comment on that “low-shin area'”boot. I think they disrupt the line of the fashion, if that makes sense, setting an unnatural focus. They’re as flattering as the white athletic socks some men wear. Ankle height and knee and over the knee boots work. I’m 5′ tall, just like you. I look forward to your blog and pictures!

  45. I agree with Pam…..but I will say when I wear my taller brown suede boots from Target I get so many compliments….and since my feet are freezing today and I didn’t wear my boots those short black ones look very enticing (like run out at noon and buy them enticing)!

  46. Love the short boots. Some times it takes getting used to something different but I think they look great!

  47. You know what? I bought some boots very similar to that style but from Payless, ALSO before Christmas and I’ve only worn them a couple times. I don’t know how I feel about them either!! I decided that I’ll probably only wear them for very casual days-like in place of UGGs. I think it’s the fact that there’s no heel and the height of them is sort of in-between. But I do like how you styled them today-the whole outfit together is cute. 🙂

  48. They are all cute. I love the tall boots. The short ones are okay, I agree they would look better with an wedge heel. I did find a pair of short boots that I like from a little shop near me. It’s called Sister BabyZ they have an Instagram page @shopsisterbabyz. They are the Heather Bootie. I wore them to a college tour with my daughter and they didn’t hurt my feet at all. The price isn’t to bad either. You should look them up.
I turned your blog onto the ladies I work with and the other day one of them came in with a cute outfit on and she said she got it from you. 😉

  49. I had a pair of brown boots like that, and I felt like they just made my legs look heavy because of where they hit on the calf. And I thought the same thing – they’d be better with a heel. I gave mine to my daughter because I wore them once to work, but she didn’t even wear them that much!

  50. I like the short boots. However, if you’ve had them for awhile and still haven’t decided if you like them, chances are you won’t wear them very often. Go with what you like and what feels comfortable for you!
