Why Is It So Easy To Worry?

WorryWhy is it so easy to worry? I know Jesus is in control, but I often let my mind wander to the “what ifs”.

There are many scriptures that remind us to give our worries to Jesus but here are a few.

  • Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6
  • Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. Psalm 55:22
  • When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. Psalm 56:3

Why does Jesus tell us not to worry? Because He knows the ill effects of worry.

  • It damages our health
  • It disrupts our productivity
  • It negatively affects the way we treat others
  • And it reduces our ability to trust in God.

How many of these are you experiencing because of worry?

I sometimes worry too much and I know Jesus wants me to trust Him.

Let’s really give our worries to Him and start living the abundant life! Each day is a gift!

I was talking this week with someone who is going through a difficult season and I felt I had nothing to say to make this person feel better. I did tell them that this too shall pass. Sometimes we need to grieve and the healing will come but healing takes time.

Have a blessed Sunday!

  1. I guess worrying is human nature as we try to figure out a situation. The following is in Wayne Dyer’s latest book. I printed it, framed it, and placed it on the windowsill by my kitchen sink. A daily reminder “who” is in control and I am to be at peace.

    Good morning,
This is God. I will be handling all of your problems today. I will not need your help, so have a miraculous day!

Blessings to you for a miraculous day,
    Doreen

  2. Worry seems to be a common thread amongst us all. Thank you so much for this post and at least I know I’m not alone and it’s a reminder to us to keep our faith in God and his plan for us .

  3. I too am a worrier. So many times I try to give it to God and find myself back to worring. Thank you for this post. I am going to write down your scriptures in my journal and use them to remind me that He is in charge. God Bless!

  4. I too am a worrier! I read a wonderful book called “Calm My Anxious Heart” by Linda Dillow in my bible study and I often find myself going back to it to remind me not too waste all my time worrying! Thanks for a wonderful post!

  5. Great post Cyndi! I love the passage in Matthew! I do find myself worrying more about the little events in life than the big events. I hope that God doesn’t get too disappointed in us when we worry instead of turning it over to Him, and really letting go of the situation.

I hope you had a blessed day!

  6. Thank you for this post. I also wanted to Thank these wonderful ladies and their responses to your post. I read them all and they too encouraged me. What a Great group!

  7. My pastor spoke this am about worry and that we just need to cast our cares upon the Lord. We carry heavy loads on ourselves that God can make so much lighter if we will only trust in him ! God is good always and always God is Good😊

  8. I really enjoyed your spiritual posts and especially the songs. It’s always good to hear something new. Seems like I’ve had alot of people cross my path recently that are grieving and I’ll be able to share this touching song with them. God knows what we need. Thanks. Blessings to you for sharing.

  9. This is one of my biggest struggles. As much as I try to stop, and as much as I know I have no control of certain situations, the worry seems to still manage to sneak into my thoughts. Thank you for your words, and the beautiful song.

  10. Thank you Cyndi for this wonderful reminder. I am a really OCD person who likes things to go right all the time and feel like I need to be in control of all situations at all times. I know this is not a good thing and I’m constantly trying to work on it. I KNOW God is in control and I need to work on letting go so He can do His work! I appreciate this reminder and your beautiful spirit.

Prayers to all out there! May God help us all to remember He does have out lives in His control and part of His plan! We all need to Let Go and Let God!

    🙂

  11. Thank you for sharing this, Cyndi ~ my word of the year is “trust”… I’ve realized how much I tend to worry rather than placing my trust in Him — even though I KNOW He is faithful! It grieves me that I worry, but I’m working diligently on focusing on Him each day and trusting that He will work it all out. So. Hard. And humbling.
Love your heart, my friend… xo Heidi

  12. I am struggling with worry right now. I am having a hyster on feb. 17 (10 days, wow) and feel so anxious about the surgery, my recovery and especially the after affects! It is life changing, not only physically but emotionally and what will happen to my personality due to lack of or change in hormones. Yes, I am freaking out! I Do NOT want to become someone that no one can tolerate being around! I know people like this I don’t want to BE people like this! Sorry for rambling…prayers, please. I know it is ALL in the LORD’s hands.

  13. I couldn’t help but think of your sister and her family while reading this. I think it is human and so easy to worry. Laying our worries at God’s feet is REALLY hard- especially for control freaks like me. I have to humble myself and dig deep to turn my worries over. Thank you for the reminder and great scripture and music.

  14. Thank you for bringing beautiful music and scripture into my life. Your posts reminds me of the trust I must place in our Lord. My favorite saying during difficult times is, “This too shall pass.” I continue to remind myself and others to trust and give it up to the Lord for he knows what is good for us.
    Have a blessed day!

  15. Thank you for sharing this today. I worry constantly. As another Lori posted, I too worry more the older I get. I realize it’s unhealthy and it impacts my ability to enjoy this wonderful life I have been given. I will keep the scriptures handy that you mention. Thanks again and have a wonderful day.

  16. Beautiful song! Thank you for sharing. I think this is exactly what I needed to share with a close friend who suddenly lost a parent this week. I’ve been praying for a way to comfort her.

  17. Beautiful song. Often we have no human words to comfort a friend who is the throes of heartache. Sitting with them, crying with them, loving them and praying for them is all they need/want for that moment. I think having a friend who is willing to do that testifies to the Lord’s love and care which can speak louder than any articulated human word. Have a blessed day in Him.

  18. Thank you so much for sharing this song – the words are incredible and allow people to feel their pain in a very real way, instead of dismissing whatever they are going through. Love it.

  19. I am a worrier and it seems that I get worse as I get older. I am grateful to know that God is in control and in the end it will all be ok. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

  20. I really needed to hear this. It seems all I do is worry about every little thing. Thanks for these passages. Have a nice day!

  21. Wow, beautiful song… I’ve not heard that one yet…. Thanks for sharing!
Worry is hard to let go of. It’s really a control issue. Trust is my “word of the year ” and I’m really working on trusting my Lord more!
