Mother’s Day Gift Guide

Let’s talk accessories! Since Mother’s Day is less than two weeks away, jewelry from Nordstrom is a great option!

Or maybe you’re tired of your day-to-day outfits, you don’t have to buy a whole new wardrobe, just add some jewelry.

I love that the jewelry department at Nordstrom has everyday jewelry as well as statement pieces in a variety of price points. You can find something, no matter your budget.

I recently purchased this tassel necklace from Nordstrom and it’s only $18. I love adding a pop of color to an outfit

I love to wear a white tee with jeans and a cute pair of sandals. I would say it’s my go-to outfit. I like to add some big earrings, a necklace, some bracelets and a ring. Easy peasy.

I typically add a couple of bracelets to most of my outfits. I recently purchased this link bracelet and on a side note, my watch is on sale (25%off).

Beauty for the Heart~~Our grandson, Colt, has a new favorite word and it’s “Thank You”. It’s the sweetest thing to hear him say. He’s constantly saying, “Thank you CiCi”!

It doesn’t matter what I give him from a piece of gum to a new toy, if I compliment him on how good he’s coloring, he says thank you and he says it with such conviction. As if he’s surprised that we love him that much.

coltAs you can imagine, my heart melts every time. The more he thanks me the more I want to give him.

It makes me wonder if that is how God feels when we thank Him? I also wonder if we thank Him enough?

My guess is His heart melts when we are faithful to thank Him for all He has given us. So today, take time to give thanks, from the smallest thing to the biggest. He deserves our thankfulness!

O our God, we thank you and praise your glorious name! 1 Chronicles 29:13

Have a blessed day!

  1. I’m still following to see if you share where you purchased the cute vest. =) Love that you share your faith and your tips for women over 40. =)

  2. Love your message! It’s so easy to Ask, Ask, Ask in our prayers & not say Thank you! I remember having the conversation with my oldest (now 12) when she was around 6-7 about her prayers and something she asked God. When she told me about it and how he answered. I said, immediately, well now it’s time to pray your Thank You isn’t it?! Thank you for the reminder!

  3. I saw a couple people had asked bout the vest. I love it, too! Is there any information on where to purchase it?

  4. The real quandary for me is not “do I wear jewelry?”, but “what would enhance this outfit?” I never know how to pick the accessories for an outfit. I rarely buy clothes as outfits and would likely mix them up anyway, so when I’m standing in the awesome jewelry department of Nordstrom, what do I buy and remain a good steward? From a like perspective I could say yes to almost anything. Do I just buy a piece hoping it will work in to some outfit? Are there any basics on which you can build an accessory wardrobe? Also, a watch is non-negotiable for me. I have several, but do I always keep bracelets with the watch? Thank you for your fun blog :-).

  5. Just ordered the tassel necklace in pearl! Cute outfit, I need to get a new white t-shirt, my last one ripped at the armhole seam 🙁

  6. Cute outfit. I have the necklace in the white. I love the turquoise that’s my next purchase. What about the sandals your wearing , where are they from, love them!

  7. Lovin your outfit today–just screams summer to me. Could you share a link for your white tee shirt? Thanks, make it a great day!

  8. Cindy,
I thoroughly enjoy your blog and sense of fashion. Your OOTD is fabulous! Please share the story on the super-cute, “I-must-have” wedge sandals you are wearing!
    Thank you!
    Dana

  9. I loved your post. I have been a Mimi now for 6 years and this must have been what I have waiting for all my life. I now have 5 grandchildren and I still get butterflies when I see them! I love reading your blog and seeing what you have on each day. I’m 55, but of course still feel 30…
It’s nice to read your daily inspirations.

  10. Love your outfit today. I am looking for the perfect white t shirt. Would love to know what your favorite is and also ideas from your blog friends. Thanks

  11. Saw that you went to Zumba today so did I, it is such a good workout. Maybe you could blog about exercise clothes and shoes. I too feel naked without earrings!

  12. Love the vest too! Can you please share the link? I agree about the jewelry. It definitely enhances any outfit. I sometimes plan the jewelry first, then the outfit 😉 happy packing !

  13. Thank you for the message about thanking God. I try to remember to do that everyday but, I never thought about it the way you put it. I’m glad you do this! 🙂

  14. I just got back from Zumba and saw that you were heading to Zumba. Such a good workout. Maybe you could do a blog on exercise clothes and shoes.i know what you mean about feeling naked without earrings!

  15. Always visit you each morning! There is a saying something to the effect what if we have today what we thanked God for yesterday. Ashamed to say some days I’m not very thankful, but I’m trying.

  16. In my prayers I always thank God first. Without my current blessings who would I be, where would I be. I don’t know what tomorrow holds for me, but I am thankful for today, everyday. Thank YOU for such a touching way of thinking about it.
    PS Love the vest!

  17. I thin this outfit really hit a favorable chordwith a lot of readers ??and I am like everyone else with wanting to hear more about the short sleeved sweater.. with all our drought and the results it is a great thing to see the leafing out of the trees. we may not have the trees that result in Fall colors we do have some spectacular trees. And we thank Him for the great beauty of them.

  18. What a beautiful reminder to thank Him for our blessings! Been admiring the colorful birds that are returning to our yard and need to remember to thank the Giver who brought them to us!

You are spot on about the accessories… They’re something I never spent much time on, but are the single thing–I think–that most impacts the tone of an outfit!

  19. The tassel necklace looks great with your outfit Cyndi! Beautiful shot with the sun, as well. I used not to wear jewelry unless I was in better clothes, but this group, as well as Jo-Lynne’s group, is helping me to accessorize my casual outfits. Colt is such a cutie!

The Beauty For the Heart hit home today in a big way. During our drive back to the city yesterday, we were in a county where there’s lots of violence and problems. At an intersection I saw steam coming out from under the hood of the van. I was able to pull into a gas station, in the shade. Larry opened the hood & we knew we had a problem. My stomach was in knots! As it turned out, there was an Advance Auto Parts store across the busy road, so Larry walked over there, leaving me with the dogs and the gun. Turns out a man in the store owns an auto repair shop right down the road, so he told Larry to drive there and ask for his son, Kevin. We did and in about 1 hour we were back on the road. God was watching over us this whole time and I thanked Him over and over, as did Larry, because: the issues occurred in a location that allowed me to get off the road; that man was where we needed him to be; his repair shop was close by; we weren’t stuck on the interstate; the repair was simple & done quickly; we made it the last hour without any issues. Some people will say it was luck. I say it was Jesus in control and I’m so thankful for Him!

    1. I love it that you shared this !! so many times we forget to stare that miracle in the face and thank Him for them. It is good to have a reminder what they can look like. THANK YOU.

  20. I have always said that you must add a third piece whether it’s a necklace, scarf, or a vest or blazer. Also have a grandson Cole’s age the please is also cute. I would also like to buy a vest Like yours

  21. Cute outfit and thoughtful devotion. Being thankful….so simple but we tend to forget to thank God for His blessings (sigh). I’m curious where the cute vest/cardigan came from?

  22. Thanks for sharing the darling picture of Colt and your CiCi story. I love when my gdaughter thanks me too! Being a gma is about the best thing ever!

  23. Great look! Can you please tell me where your white t-shirt and jeans are from? I’m always looking for good staples like those. Thank you!

  24. Cyndi,
Grandson’s are great!! Thanks for sharing about Colt with us. Here’s a story about my 4 year old grandson which includes you… I was driving Callan back to his home, 5 hours away, and needed something to occupy his time. So, I gave him my cell phone so that he could look through my photos. I sometimes take screen shots of you in your outfits so that I can remember what goes with each outfit. Callan saw one of those screen shots and said, “look LeeLee, it’s you”. I about ran off the road, laughing. He had no idea the great compliment he just gave me… I look like Cyndi Spivey.😃😃

  25. It’s hard to leave the house without my accessories!! I know what you mean about feeling naked without earrings (but the greatest excuse for forgetting is I’m getting old—ha ha)
I love being able to wear bracelets now—I really couldn’t while practicing dentistry (patients so frown on being hit in the face with jewelry—you know all too well!!)
I love your tassel necklace and that is quite a deal. I always think of Nordstrom’s as so expensive—but this is a good example of how they have some reasonably priced items!! jodie

  26. I also look forward to receiving your emails and enjoy hearing a little bit about you and your life each day. (Grandson is adorable)

Anyway, I have bought a lot of the clothing and accessories and have a guideline just makes my shopping a little bit easier.

Thank you for sharing and all that you do!

  27. I really Love this outfit! I’m learning so much from you – you do a great job with your blog! Thanks for reminding me to praise & thank God for all he has done. What a cute little grandson you have💕

  28. I totally agree with adding jewelry to an outfit. If I’m having a bad day or things in life are not going as “planned” I always like to wear. Piece of jewelry that will make me happy. It’s a total game changer for me. I’ll even select a piece and build my outfit from the piece of jewelry especially a necklace.
Many times Cyndi I’ll scroll to the end of your blog to read your inspirational words. Have a blessed day!

  29. Cyndi,
You are so stinking cute!!! I look forward to your blog and message everyday. My day isn’t complete unless I have my Cyndi time! Keep up the great work.

  30. Hi Cyndi,
I love your outfit today… White … my favorite summer color! Yes, I love accessories and have gathered more then I know I need 😉 Your grandson Colt is a handsome little fellow!!
Hee hee taking a break and packing boxes doesn’t sound like a “break” LOL but have fun and don’t over-work on the packing! God Bless.

  31. Love your post today-I always love your accessories! I am particularly touched by your point about being thankful. It brought me to tears thinking of Our Father feeling the same love for us as we feel for out precious children. Thank you for that uplifting thought for today!
