Why Do I Have To Suffer?

Some weeks it feels like I hear one tragic story after another. My heart aches as I hear about pain and suffering.

We have all experienced hurt, and pain, and even loss. We wonder at times, “why do I have to suffer?”

After losing my Mom, I wondered if the pain of losing her would ever go away? I cried myself to sleep more times than I can count.

It never completely goes away. But through the pain, I have felt God’s peace and his love.

We need to remember, we aren’t seeing everything. There are things going on behind the scenes that we can’t comprehend on this side of heaven.

1 Corinthians 13:12 says, “Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity.’

We only see a tiny part of what God is doing in our life, and many times it doesn’t make sense. Why did I lose someone I love? Why is my child suffering? Why am I having health issues?

There is more to our story! The hard part for us is remaining faithful even in the midst of difficult seasons. It will all make sense one day.

Let’s trust Him even in the Eye of the Storm…..

Have a blessed Sunday!

  1. Thank you Cyndi! I know this is Memorial Day, when we thank the military personnel that died for us, but I keep having thought about my mom since she just dies on May 5th. It’s so strange how some of the strangest things make me start crying and missing my mom. I’m typing through tears now, so please ignore any typos. If I wasn’t a Believer and didn’t have faith, I know I could not deal with the loss and pain. I don’t fully understand why we have to suffer so much, but we do. Look how much Jesus suffered for us!

    God Bless America!

  2. I lost my Mom almost 5 years ago and my Dad this past January. I miss them it seems more everyday. I get that we are born with the road eventually ending . . . . But the road seems too short no matter how long our loved ones live. Faith carries me through . . . .

  3. Cyndi
Thanks for sharing your faith. Times get hard but God is always faithful. I have been going through some difficult times right now. Im glad that I have the Lord to lean on.
Keep your light shining, Its very encouraging!

  4. And many parents, spouses and children have lost their loved ones. Please don’t forget to pray for the families of those serving our country as well. They also sacrifice much for our freedoms! Thank you!

  5. Cyndi, once again you have had the right words at the right time!
God Bless. I wil pray comfort to all those on this blog that are missing loved ones.

  6. Needed that encouragement today. Thank you.

I lost my Mother at 96 on Mother’s Day. Sometimes I’m so lonely even though I know I have The Lord.
    I just want my Mom.

    1. Oh Barbara, I’m so sorry for your loss. I understand completely, sometimes I just want my Mom too! Praying you are comforted today.
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

    2. Barbara, My mom died on May 5th at the age of 88. Like you, there are times I just want my mom back, but then I realize how selfish I’m being. She was not ‘living,’ she was just existing, and I know that’s not what she wanted. I was fortunate to be able to tell mom what a wonderful mother she had been, that I loved her, and it was okay to let go. No, it wasn’t easy saying those things, but I had too! God bless you as you continue to heal and find peace and comfort.

  7. Than you for this today Cyndi. My mom died suddenly this past Wednesday. I feel so many emotions. One minute I am crying out to God, the next I am so angry with him for taking her. Your post today was exactly what I needed.

    1. I wanted to express my sympathy in your loss. I lost my mom 13 years ago this coming Christmas Day. I went thru these same emotions. You have my prayers, it’s a hard thing for us daughters.😢🙏🏻

    2. I, too, want to tell you that I am sorry for the loss of your mom. I lost my mother on Christmas night -like another reader wrote. It was 28 years ago, and I still miss her. However, I still feel very close to her, even more as the years have passed. May God comfort your spirit.

  8. You are a beautiful person…I too needed this too in so many ways. Thank you for showing us Christ through your words and examples. God bless you and yours. Have a peace filled day.

  9. Thank you Cindi! I am always so uplifted by your emails. I am your sister way off in California but, feel like I’m next door sitting at your kitchen table when I read the emails! I enjoy the style info but, it’s the Jesus in you that keeps me reading! How blessed we are by His grace! God is good all the time! All the time, God is good! Enjoy you rest and anonymity today….soak Him up!
