In case you haven’t heard yet, Nordstrom is having a sale! I mentioned it last week while I was in Cuba but I couldn’t start ordering until I got home.
This sale is open for cardholders only right now but it opens to everyone starting July 22. They do restock some items so if you don’t see your size now, they may have it later.
I thought I would share my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks and what I have ordered so far, I may add a few things. The great thing about Nordstrom is free shipping and free return shipping!
When I wrote this post, I had ordered these Joe jeans but I got an email saying they could not fulfill that order because they didn’t have my size (boo!). I love Joe jeans and I found these on sale so I’m ordering them.

Last fall and winter I wore these over the knee black boots over and over! They are worn out and you can no longer purchase them so I ordered these from the #NSALE. I still think you will see a lot of over the knee boots this fall and winter.
I really like this faux leather jacket and have it in my cart ready to order.
You know I love these utility vests and this one is on sale for $37.90.
I want these Tory Burch boots but I don’t know about spending the money. They are regularly $495 and are on sale for $299. These boots would last for years and are definitely an investment piece.

I’m late to comment, but I came back to look at the post again and saw the additional discussion about spending on clothing. While I agree with charitable giving and do so myself, I see nothing wrong with treating yourself to a well fitting, good quality piece here and there. You’d be surprised how much better some of the high quality pieces are and how much longer they last, making them a better option in the long run. Cost doesn’t always equal quality though. I also think people underestimate how much better and more confident you feel when you know you look good. However, I don’t agree with going overboard. I certainly don’t carry a $500 purse or wear $150 jeans.

I never shopped Nordstrom in the past because I could not find clothes to fit. Since January I have lost 60 pounds and have taken inspiration in your style. I have purchased some of the Nordstrom clothing you have styled this summer and it all fits..a true blessing..
I now think its time to apply for the Nordstrom credit card.
I never realized that the Nordstrom sale was featuring items for the next season. I always thought it was for end of the season clothing and accessories. (As I mentioned, I never shopped there!)

I love these pieces, but I don’t shop Nordstrom, however, I do have a nephew that works in the Nordstrom store in Indiana. For now, on my budget, I’m happy with a little lower cost in spending for myself. I love leather and will be wearing several pieces this Fall. I’m glad it is still in style. 🙂 With my hubby being very ill and going to the V.A. hospital for all his appointments, I am finding out that I love to shop in their Canteen, Patriot store more often. They carry clothing not seen in other stores and I am so the person who loves to dress in something not everyone has on around me. LOL God bless,
Cyndi, thank you so much for your sweet answer to the question regarding the prices of your styled pieces vs. the poverty you witnessed in Cuba. Isn’t this another area where we are each called to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling? There are SO MANY factors that go deciding how to use what God has blessed us each with. As an MK raised outside of the US, money was always very tight, and my wardrobe consisted of what was either on sale from a discount store or what I sewed from the limited choices of fabric available to me. I know I still carry a lot of baggage regarding spending the money I now have. It’s easy for me to also be confused by some of the high-priced items I see (particularly on other fashion blogs–a $500 ring, a $500 handbag, but I try to remember these points: –God looks on our hearts, and intends for us to love our neighbor as ourselves. No doubt that will look and play out differently for every single one of us. –The beauty of following your blog, for me, is not an attempt to buy the pieces you style, but to keep me in touch with what is current and how to put together a lovely outfit. Learning how you choose to put an outfit together gives me the tools to either buy a similar item at Target, or at my all-time favorite department store, Dillard’s (we don’t have Nordstrom’s in our corner of the country). –Finally I also have to remind myself that this is your business (which I am guessing pays for itself), and you’re NOT a shop-a-holic flaunting your latest purchases!! 😉
I apologize that this comment got so long, but I have struggled with the same type of question that was voiced earlier in the comments, and thought I would share some of what I’ve been learning Along these lines.
Cindy I thought it was a good question and as I told Angie I want to be honest with my readers. I agree we each have to work this out with fear and trembling.
I too look at some blogs that I follow and wonder how they afford $5000 handbags!! But obviously they style them because women buy them.
Thank you for your thoughts and your understanding. My blog would be boring if I only styled the same outfits each week, part of what I do is style different outfits, different styles, different price points for all my readers. I do love my job. 🙂
Another verse that hits home with what we are talking about is Matthew 6:20, But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

The Joe jeans run true to size. I haven’t tried the Paige jeans yet but as soon as I get them in, I’ll let you know! If you order them, you can send them back with free shipping if they don’t fit.

This was my first year to shop the sale…and I ordered those Tory Burch boots! I do not have “investment” pieces…so I decided since I just celebrated by 51st birthday that I would purchase a good pair of boots. Great realization: you don’t have to be a credit card holder to access the anniversary sale today. If you are a registered Nordstrom Rewards (debit card) holder, we too are able to access the early anniversary sales prices. It’s free to join. Just know that sometimes retailers use this information to track or to use as marketing tools (not your debit information, unless they are hacked 🙁

I just bought the Tory Burch boots. I have wanted them for years and finally decided to get them (and my husband said it could be an early birthday present, YEA !!). I understand it doesn’t fit everyone’s budget, and that they are spendy, but for me I know that I will wear them for years and year to come. Thanks for sharing your picks and thoughts on the sale.

Thank you for your blog. I love the different price points that you show and know that this blog is your business and you earn income from it. I admire your Christian beliefs, and it gives me great comfort knowing that there are other people in the world with similar beliefs to mine. Sometimes it is so easy to get caught up in all the negativity and depressing things going on throughout the world. I am not a Nordstrom card holder, but cant wait to do a bit of shopping with what will be left in stock. Unfortunately it is still 115 degrees here in AZ and we are all just trying to survive for the next couple months! I love Fall and Winter clothes but it is such a short lived thing here. Thanks for all you do!
Unfortunatley I agree somewhat with Angie. I totally understand this is a business for you and I have followed your blog for a while now but I must admit that even tho I love the clothes and styles that you post, I feel they have become increasingly more elite and expensive. I miss the days when you posted items and showed comparisons from Kohls, Target, Payless and you gave ideas where we can find “look alikes” at prices the frugal woman can afford. I admired how you made us aware that we could get a trendy look with out “splurging” (I see many woman in your comments using this word)
I am aware that it’s my choice to continue to read and follow you and I do so because I like your taste and you are a very sweet lady and a Christian. Personally, I have chosen to use the earnings of what God has blessed me with in a more modest way when it comes to buying for myself. Thank you for keeping us updated on fashion trends and I will continue to follow you for your ideas but not necessarily for where I can purchase them.

I love Target (although some people thought I should be boycotting them, I can’t please everyone), and I style clothes from Loft and Old Navy all the time. I worked with Payless for spring and I will be doing 3 posts with Payless for back to school.

I’ve been reading your blog for awhile and have enjoyed it, but I have to ask, especially since your recent trip to Cuba. You talk of the oppression of the country and the people there and how they live with so little but yet you post that you’re purchasing hundreds of dollars worth of clothes. Seems to me that maybe that money would be better spent to help those individuals. Whether it be for Bibles, food or daily necessities. I’m not being a hater or whatever label you want to give me, it’s just a thought. It seems we have so much and continue to buy more when those who are down and out continue the same life struggles of doing without.

#1 This blog is my business. Just like some people work outside the home and have to have a job and make money, this blog is my job. I give, I pay my bills, etc. through what I make from women purchasing my clothes or buying my style challenge etc. I budget for this sale knowing it will benefit my business. I am always upfront about what I’m doing with this blog and I feel blessed to be able to work at something I love and even better, I get to share about my faith.
#2. Because I make money from my blog I am able to give. All the clothes I wore while in Cuba I gave to the women in the church where we were ministering all week. I actually bought new things and left the tags on them so they would have new clothes. It’s my personal conviction that all the clothes that I style (even if they have only been worn a few times), that I give them away. I don’t resell my clothes.
My husband and I were able to pay for our trip (not asking for money to help us) because of my blog. We are also able to tithe a lot more money to our church because of my blog. I could say more but I don’t feel I need to share all the ways my husband and I give but I will tell you we are passionate about giving.
I don’t take any of what I have for granted. I certainly don’t think you are being a hater but I think we have to be careful (me included) about pointing fingers at people. Many of us have probably spent money that we could have given away to a needy cause, right?
This blog is not a hobby but my job and my business, I hope that makes sense.

I hit the first day in store, and peeked around. Took home a KUT skinny jean, and a great neutral beige scarf for travel- it’s kind of krinkled and wont look ‘rumpled’! There are some Kendra Scott pieces I’m considering… But I resist pricey splurges and big logo pieces. I love Sam Edelman boots which are better priced- need to see if they’re on sale! Thx!

I splurged on the black wide calf Tory Burch Boots! I wore out my boots last year, if you wear them as much as I do they are worth the splurge!
