I’m excited to join 4 bloggers as we share some Coast to Coast Summer Survival. Every Tuesday during the month of August, we’re going to talk about a topic related to surviving the last month of summer.
Today’s post is all about Beach/Pool Day Survival and since I don’t live close to the beach, I’m talking about what I use for a pool day.
If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you know we recently purchased a home with a pool. While I haven’t been able to be poolside as much as I would like, we have had several get-togethers and there are a few things I always have on hand when I’m going to spend a day at the pool.
1. Coconut Body Scrub
I want my skin to look it’s best so I start with a coconut body scrub before I ever hit the pool. I use this all summer to keep my skin looking good.
I make my own body scrub with Nutiva organic virgin coconut oil and sugar. I use 1 cup of coconut oil and 1 cup sugar.
2. Summer Hat (linked a similar hat)
This one is a no-brainer but I thought I would share the sunscreens I use regularly.
Supergoop has an SPF 50 and has healthy ingredients. It’s paraben free, oxybenzone free, and fragrance free.
Andre Lorent has anti-aging properties and is paraben and fragrance free, broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection and SPF 30.
I don’t wear a lot of makeup if I’m going to be at the pool but to help give me a sun kissed look on my face, I use a bronzer. I use hourglass bronzer in luminous bronze light and this compact lasts a long time!
This one you might not think about but if we are going to be outside in the evening, I like to have a mosquito repellant on hand. Water attracts mosquitos.
- Certified USDA Organic by Oregon Tilth
- DEET free and Picaridin free, no synthetic chemicals
- Repels mosquitos that may carry Zika viruses
- Safe for pregnant women and young children
- Proven effective for 3 hours
What are some of your favorite poolside items?

Beauty For the Heart~~We please Him most not by frantically trying to make ourselves good, but by throwing ourselves into His arms with all our imperfections and believing that He understands everything and still loves us. A.W. Tozer
God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. Ephesians 2:8-9
Have a blessed day!
