A few weeks ago we talked about denim trends for fall 2016. Flare jeans are one of the styles you’ll see a lot this season so today we are looking at how to style flare jeans.
My flare jeans are from Nordstrom. They have a great selection of flare jeans at different price points.
Here are a few styling tips on how to rock the flare jeans.
1. The hem of your jeans should not be too long or too short but should hit the perfect spot of your sandal or boot to get that perfect look.
2. Make your flare jeans look professional with a solid top and a fitted blazer or leather jacket.
3. Getting the shoe right is also a part of wearing the flare jeans right. High-heels or wedges bring fluidity to these pants and balance the bottoms. Flats, sandals or sneakers should be paired with caution with flared bottoms to avoid looking sloppy.
4. When opting for flared jeans make sure the denims are fitted up to the knee and then flare out in a subtle manner, being widest at the bottom.
5. Accentuate your look by adding a waist-belt. Flare jeans with belts look great as it adds some structure to flowing lowers and lends a simple, staple, streamlined appearance.
I didn’t like a belt with this top but I think if I found the right top, I could add a belt.

Hi!
Found your site just a few days ago and all I can say is “Thank You!”
I ordered the beautiful leather jacket and the peep toe boots for pickup at my local Nordstroms.
I am 5’6″ and weigh about 174 and am 51 years old. I ordered the jacket in xlarge because the reviews stated that it ran small so the XLarge in the size chart stated it was equivalent to a Size 12 so I ordered that as I knew that a 10 should fit and I don’t like tight things.
It fit absolutely perfect! Love the edgy styling to it.
I typically wear jeans and some sort of shell top to work so I immediately put on the shoes and jacket. What a transformation those two items did to my dull and ordinary daily wear. I felt quite nice.
I probably would not have tried the jacket on if I were simply shopping in the store as I would have feared it making my belly even bigger, so I’m very happy that I’m following your choices since it fit and looked so nice.
Erin
So nice to meet you Erin!! So happy the jacket and the boots worked for you.
Blessings,
Cyndi
You look adorable.. I haven’t worn flares since 6th grade! I just may try them again…..
Hi Cyndi! You really do the flares justice. it is a nice change from the skinnies; feel they look a little classier, maybe because you do have to wear a heel with a little height. I agree with one of your readers, they bring balance to your look especially if you are large busted(I don’t have that problem) or have some hips( have this problem , ha!). Even though I am 63, I feel I can still wear new trends be tweeking them to my shape. I look forward every day to reading your blog. Thank you for being part of my life!
Yes I have found JC Penney’s quality to be greatly diminished. The prices are great, but it is a perfect example of getting what you pay for. I really like Macy’s Style & co. Brand. They have great sales, good quality, and really cute pieces.
Cyndi, I have noticed you do not use as many pieces from Glamour Farms, at one point it felt they were daily showcased. I assume you have just found styles you are more interested in elsewhere currently.
Can you tell us the measurement at the very bottom of the leg? How wide do these go? Thanks! I got 2 pair of bootcut jeans recently but they feel flared to me after all the skinnies I have been wearing!
Hey Brenda, I measured and they are 10 1/2 inches wide. Hope that helps!!
Cyndi
You look great!! I like the look I to like the boot cut and skinny jeans. Do you think a Demi jacket goes with Demi jeans I don’t think so but I have seen it together? I like your jacket also with a longer top. Thank you for today.😊
Fawn did you mean denim jacket??
Cyndi…you look great in anything! I personally am glad to know a little flare is still in style. I have broad shoulders and full busted. I tried a skinnier leg jean but they made me feel and look like Big Bird! A very heavy top on bird legs!. I think a boot cut jean or at least a straight leg jean gives my body shape a much more balanced look. I’m too old …at 66 for the big flares that start at the knee…but a nice boot cut is good. I hope having all of us older women following you isn’t insulting. We still like to know what’s in style and can modify it for our age if needed. We love you for your wonderful Christian testimony.
Straight leg and boot cut jeans are flattering for most body types and I know many of my readers love them. I am not insulted at all that older women stop by my blog!!! I’m humbled that you stop by and thankful I’m able to help.
Blessings,
cyndi
I haven’t had the slightest urge for flares until now! I absolutely love this whole look on you!
I’ve always loved flares or bootcut jeans the best, I personally don’t think skinny jeans flatter anyone. Those are very cute, love that the waist is higher also.
Wow !! You look great in them. Until now, I wouldn’t have went there. Thank’s for all the info on what to wear & not with them.
Thank you Deana!!
Love these flares!!!
Jaymie
They would look great on you Jaymie!!
Love these jeans, they look great on you! I have a white pair and black pair I purchased from Loft last year and love them, they are not as flared as yours. Have a great day!😊
As always you wear it well!!!
I will stick to my skinnys!

Love the look!! Actually, I have on a pair of flares today with a top like yours!! You are always such an inspiration, I can’t tell you how I look forward to your posts every morning! Your are beautiful, inside and out! Thank you for taking the time to do this for all of us gals! I have learned so much from you!
You are too sweet! Thank you Diane.

You look great. Since I personally don’t wear skinny jeans I especially loved this post. Thank you.
These look awesome and I love this outfit. So glad to see something besides skinny jeans for those of us with thicker thighs and hips!!
Does my handbag always have to match my shoes! I always have a hard time with that , especially taupe , browns etc. Thank you:) love your style, (Even though I’m 5’2 petite an 58 years old. I still try to go off your style)
Hi Teresa,
Im right there with you. I’m 55 and 5’1 and I recently purchased some petite flare jeans at JCPenny for a reasonable price.
Gloria 😀
Hi Teresa,
No your handbag does not have to match your shoes. It’s more stylish to not be matchy matchy. 🙂
Blessings,
cyndi
I’m glad to see flare jeans making a comeback. I think they look great on you!
Thanks Penny!
Cyndi, I really like the way you styled the flared jeans! Once again, Beauty For the Heart is awesome.
Have a blessed day!
Thanks Ginger!
I haven’t had a pair of flares in a long time…and they are great with my boots that have heels!!
I may have to get myself some again!

I have some flare jeans, and am shopping for another pair. I personally think – as long as they aren’t too flared, they look better on women 40+. I know for me personally I think they balance out my body and with heels make my legs look longer and leaner — but that’s just my opinion. Loving these you have on!
LOVE this look! I still can’t find flares that I am happy with but those are fantastic. I may need to try them!
I love the flare on you! I definitely would like to purchase a flare for fall. I definately don’t have skinny legs, but I think the flare makes my legs look thinner especially with a heel. I also love your words on faithfulness.
Girl you look great in flares! I think
a wedge or chunky heel is key to making them look good! 😊
Which Jean are you wearing exactly?? I like the whole Jean, style and color!! Thanks! 😉
You look awesome, it all fits you great!
Hi Sheri, These are the exact ones that I’m wearing http://rstyle.me/n/bxiwyhpcsw. The brand is Treasure&Bond.
LOVE these flared jeans on you! This is definitely a look I want to try. You look beautiful, as always. I can’t wait to see the upcoming post about your gorgeous hair. Have a great day, Cyndi!
Cyndi, you do the flare look beautifully! I’ve had my eye on buying a pair for fall! I have a question, it seems over the last year you have transitioned to purchasing more from Nordstrom at a higher price point than in the past (in comparison to old navy, jcp, kohls, etc). Nothing wrong with that, btw! I’m curious if you find the quality to be better and longer lasting? I’m getting tired of buying clothing that doesn’t seem to hold up and keep its shape. As always, thanks for the style inspiration!
Karen
I have found that what you are saying is true. A bargain is not a bargain if your clothes last one washing and then fade, shrink and just don’t look good. I get my flare jeans at Eddie Bauer, they have lasted for several years and are well made. Happy shopping.
Shannon
Thank you, Shannon! So many jeans I’ve bought lately loose their stretch, coloring and shape. I’ll also check to see if we have an Eddie Bauer near me.
Hi Karen,
I am always trying to find good price points for clothes at all stores. Nordstrom makes it easy for me to shop because I can order and send back with free shipping and in full disclosure they pay bloggers for posts. Not all my posts from Nordstrom are paid for but some of them are paid. I would not work with them if I didn’t really like their clothes.
I do have to admit I like their clothes better than Old Navy and JCPenney. I feel like ON and JCP are hit and miss for me. Sometimes I find a really cute item that seems to be well made.
I have never been a fan of Kohl’s. I use to shop there some but the last few times I have been in there, I don’t like the quality.
I find that I wear Nordstrom, Banana Republic, and Loft clothes the most when I’m dressing to go somewhere. When I purchase the cheaper clothes, I don’t like them after a few washes. I do wear a lot of Glamour Farms clothes and they are always a good price point.
I hope that helps!
cyndi
Cyndi, thank you for the detailed reply! I really appreciate the input! I have been a long time reader (since before you were a fashion blogger even) and very much value your feedback. I have not tried Nordstrom yet, since I’m not familiar with the brands, but definitely find the free shipping and returns appealing. I’ll also give the other suggestions a try. Thanks again, much appreciated!
