Fall Fashion-Poncho Sweater & Stripe Tee

It’s Day 10 of my 26 Days of Fall Fashion! Today I’m styling a poncho sweater from Old Navy. This poncho is ideal for fall because it’s lightweight.

I can’t always find clothes I like at Old Navy but this poncho is a winner. I love the color and when the weather turns cooler, you can always add layers (a scarf or a turtleneck would look great).

Fall Fashion-Poncho Sweater & Stripe TeeI added a stripe tee from Nordstrom to this poncho. A stripe tee is a fall staple for me! This one is soft and I can add it to a lot of fall outfits. The one I’m wearing has sold out but this one from Old Navy will work great!

Some of the reviews said the poncho runs large. I don’t think it runs large, I think it’s a poncho and they aren’t meant to be tight fitting. I ordered the xs/s size and I think it’s the perfect fit.

Fall Fashion-Poncho Sweater & Stripe TeeI had mentioned these ankle boots from Old Navy in an earlier post. They are a great price point forankle boots.

Fall Fashion-Poncho Sweater & Stripe TeeMy jeans are Level 99. They were in one of my Stitch Fix boxes and I am impressed with their fit. They’re soft and have a good amount of stretch that makes them comfortable.

Beauty for the Heart~~Life is wasted if we do not grasp the glory of the cross, cherish it for the treasure that it is, and cleave to it as the highest price of every pleasure and the deepest comfort in every pain. What was once foolishness to us—a crucified God—must become our wisdom and our power and our only boast in this world. -John Piper

As for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world’s interest in me has also died. Galatians 6:14

Have a blessed day!

  1. Bought this poncho today, it was on sale for $18!!!! Yippie. Love it, very light and soft. Cant wait to wear it, I bought a striped shirt to wear underneath too!!

  2. Cyndi, I’ve never seen an outfit online and thought “want, need, must have!” until I saw this one. I went to Old Navy the next day and bought the whole thing (their jeans are 50% off). The best part? My co-workers told me I looked terrific today when I wore it. I’m so glad I found your blog.I’ve been feeling so frumpy lately, and now I’ve got a place to check in. Thanks!

  3. For some reason I obsessed about this outfit. I had the skinny jeans and short boots already. I found a simple striped shirt at Walmart (score for less than ten dollars). Yesterday I completed my quest by finding a berry colored poncho online (50% off regular price, woohoo!)
Now if only this short (5’2″) plus-sized 52 year old woman can pull off the complete look. I am a recently retired kindergarten teacher, finding WAY too much time to shop!
Thank you for sharing your style, Cindy Spivey!

  4. Why do you always have to preface that you don’t always find things at Old Navy? I don’t apologize for shopping there. I find cute, trendy, affordable clothes that suit a wide range of sizes and ages. Any blogger can look amazing wearing expensive clothes, but it takes a real sense of style to pull off looking chic in budget-friendly clothing. And you did just that! So pat yourself on the back for being such a savvy shopper!

  5. Thank you for sharing…
I bought the burgundy sweater poncho. AND they have the color beige too. SO guess what, I bought it too. So excited

  6. I love a poncho! However, this one seems too sheer. I do like the color. But I like a sweater weight so I don’t need a jacket. Have a great day!

  7. Thanks for all of the affordable fashion inspiration, Cyndi. I always find adorable, stylish clothes for my budget on your blog. Today, I wore the cold shoulder turtleneck, from your post some time last week with the very bag from this blog, and got so many compliments!

  8. Cyndi. . . . . as always that outfit looks great together. Love it, love it, love it. And your hair, well, it always looks good and I think several of us are waiting on your hairstyle video with your longer hair. Can’t wait ! I have a long striped shirt from Old Navy but it was too tight around the hips. A striped tunic would probably fit much better for a little hippie gal like me. Thanks for styling it the way you did! Have a blessed day :),

  9. Very cute outfit. Hope the poncho is still available at our old navy store. Your hair looks so pretty. I’m getting mine cut on Wednesday and want to get bangs since that was one of your Tips for looking younger. I’m a lot nervous. Is it hard to style your bangs?

  10. Love this look! Your hair looks amazing!! Please, when you find the time can you do a video on how you style your hair! Love your blog,
And look forward to reading it everyday!

  11. Thank you for sharing your fall outfit ideas!
The people at my local Old Navy must think that I am up to something. They see me almost every week buying the outfits that you artistically put together!
Over my lunch hour, I bought the sweater poncho and a black and white striped tunic (16.94) since Nordstroms is a bit pricey for my pocketbook. I can’t wait to wear it tomorrow to work…..
I can not wait to see what you come up with next!

  12. I have been having more luck shopping at Old Navy for my daughter(23) and myself(50+) especially for trendy pieces.
Love this vest – super cute!

  13. That outfit looks great on you, and I love that you style items from different price points. I am not going to spend $100 on a poncho no matter how cute it is. It’s just not practical to me.

  14. I love how you styled this outfit, Cyndi! I am always drawn to the look of short over long because it adds interesting lines and visual appeal. I just got some cute ankle boots on sale and I am excited to try them out, but I still have to wait a bit for Florida to give me any cool weather.

  15. Very cute outfit… I wore my navy stripe long sleeve too.. Brrr but I’m loving our KY cool weather in the mornings and evenings… I wore my navy stripe blouse under jeans jacket with white jeans with black flats. You’re looking great as usual.
I have a question … are the ponchos in style this Fall? Our local Rose Brothers boutique has them and I’m tempted to buy one …. but just wondering …

  16. Perfect fall outfit! I did grab that striped tee a few weeks back -it will definitely be in regular rotation once it gets cooler. It works with just about anything!

  17. I confess: I would’ve seen that poncho at Old Navy and kept on walking.

BUT, it looks really cute on you…especially paired with the longer tee. I’m going to have to try that look! Thanks for testing the waters for me 🙂

  18. Love the outfit!! I am hoping to find some ponchos for the fall, I’ve never worn one and now I’m hoping at 56, i’m not too old for that look. :/
Your hair is getting so long and it looks amazing, is your styling routine different than when it was shorter?

    Have a blessed day!
