The Neck Scarf Trend-Winter Fashion

Welcome to Day 6 of my 25 Days of Winter Fashion! Today I’m styling a neck scarf so move over blanket scarf because there’s a new scarf in town.

The silk neck scarf trend adds an instant air of chic to any outfit. The neck scarf is tied loosely in a knot like the picture below.

Or it can be wrapped several times to create a “choker” effect.

Well, you know me, I had to give the neck scarf a try. I wasn’t sure if I liked it at first but the more I see them, the more I like them. If you want to see more ideas, search neck scarf on Pinterest.

They’re much more comfortable to wear than a blanket scarf so there’s that. I’ve also read that the blanket scarf is phasing out.

My over the knee boots are from Nordstrom but these boots are very similar and are a much better price point.

Beauty For the Heart~~My Mom has this written in the front of her Bible, “The Bible is a gift from God. We should clothe ourselves with the gospels on a daily basis.

Mom is reminding me that what I wear is not where true beauty lies. Spending time in His word is where beauty begins.

Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.  And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. Colossians 3:14-15

Have a blessed day!

  1. So glad I only purchased one blanket scarf and I wore it as a shawl. They are very cumbersome so I’m not surprised that the average woman couldn’t deal with all that material. I plan on getting rid of quite a few scarves as I think some of them have gotten out of style looking but also they have simply worn out and look limp and raggedy. I have definitely got my eye open for a pretty silk scarf square. Thanks for all you do to keep us informed and well styled!

  2. Love the scarf along with the entire outfit. Happy thanksgiving to you and your family. 😉 thank you for sharing your style and sharing your faith. 😉

  3. I have been waiting patiently for the neck scarf to come back to us. I have my Mom’s and all mine from the 90s. Yea! They are much easier for those of us dealing with hot flashes too.

  4. this is causing me to laugh at what I did with my huge collection of the smaller scarves a few years ago. my little(at the time) grand daughter was visiting and needed some imagination on Nanas part to come up with some different things to dress in. So, my scarf collection was added by their corners to an improvised elastic waistband to create a twirly silk skirt. She did have a lot of fun with it.

also, since I already had things in place for a potential cure for no longer receiving your emails in the junk folder or not at all, I deleted the item from the address book and added it back hoping it would look at as a new address to see if it would help. this am it arrived properly. I only added this thinking it might help others.

happy thanksgiving. will be looking for the pix of your day with your grandson at school. hope we will have more explanation about how their celebration of thanksgiving happens.

  5. I’m with you Cyndi. I did Black Friday shopping last year for the first time, NEVER AGAIN. I will do my shopping in pj’s, with my coffee, on my labtop 🙂 You look beautiful 🙂

    1. Hi Jen-
That’s Cyndi’s grand son. They’ve referred to him with both names as long as I’ve been around… and he’s adorable too. 😉
      Hope this was helpful 🙂

  6. I love the scarves Cyndi but hesitate. I have a very short neck. Do you think it will make it look even shorter? These scarves are a perfect alternative for our Panhandle Florida winters. I love your style and your blog. Thank you so much!

  7. Hi Cyndi! I do love your blog, and the way you style things. I have a terrible time putting outfits together, so the pictures really help.
I wanted to apologize if I’ve ever offended you. Last night I received an email telling me someone replied to a comment I left months ago. I’d been feeling down about my own lack of style, and mentioned that in my comment. I had also mentioned that I wasn’t a fan of the jacket in the post, although I thought you looked beautiful, as always. I never meant to offend.
Well the reader who replied was apparently very offended and she really tore into me. It was kind of upsetting, because I never meant to offend you or anyone else. So I’d like to take this opportunity to apologize if I hurt your feelings.
    Have a great Thanksgiving!

    1. I don’t know what you said exactly, but if all you said is that you didn’t like something then why are you so apologetic? Why did that person rip into you? God, I’m sure Cyndi wants honest feedback.

      Don’t beat yourself up.

      Blessings,

    2. Jean I am not not offended and I’m sorry if someone emailed you. That’s the problem with the internet, sometimes things can be said that we wouldn’t say in person.
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  8. You always look great and Wayne’s becoming quite the photographer! Love how the bokeh backgrounds set you off so beautifully! Happy Thanksgiving Cyndi!

  9. Hi Cyndi, I bought a scarf like this last week and used to wear them like this when I was working as a receptionist, they just add a touch of sophistication to the simplest outfit, it’s very French Chic too. Oh la lah😀 I also tie one to my handbag handle sometimes and that’s very chic, it ties everything together nicely.
    Love this style
It’s blowing a gale and pouring with rain today here in the UK and I’m thankful I don’t need to go out.
    Love Nicky 😘

    1. I Agree with you about the sophistication and I too have tied one to my handbag. Great minds think alike I guess 😉

      1. Thank you Lisa for your nice message. It’s weird how a little piece of silk material can make the difference
To an outfit. Yes indeed ‘great minds’
I guess you will be gearing up for Thanksgiving, we don’t celebrate that in the UK, however, we have quite a few family gatherings during Christmas and have Boxing Day which I know you don’t in the US.
        Happy Thanksgiving Lisa
        Nicky 😘

  10. You look fabulous, friend!

I’ve always loved silk scarves, so it’s fun to see them come back into style. If you watch movies from the 50’s and early 60’s, you’ll see a lot of them. Then they went out of fashion for awhile but came back in the 70’s. I have a few beautiful silk scarves, including a fabulous Hermes one that was given to me for my 50th birthday–such luxury! I do like the way you’ve tied yours so that it’s just a pop of color at the neck. Some of my silks are really big, so it’s nice to think of folding them down to a more manageable size.

I do hope that long winter scarves will remain fashionable; it’s so nice to wear one on a very cold day!

Have a great time at Colt Allen’s program! Love you.

  11. Hi Cyndi,

I started following you a few months ago and love your blog! Your style is so classic and I love how you are able to weave in trends and still produce a gorgeous outfit like this one! I love scarves of all types and think the one you styled today is spot on with the rest of the outfit. Thanks so much for your fashion inspiration and for sharing your faith each day!

  12. I just did an article on these neck scarves for Sixty + Me—-I think they are the bomb!
For us older women, they can camouflage a ton of neck issues and I’ve even been using my husband’s pocket squares for them!
I really love how you even incorporated print mixing with yours!!
    You look beautiful Cyndi!

  13. Hi Cindy! Love this outfit on you and the scarf looks terrific! What size scarf would you say is best suited for this look? Your page links to a 30″ x 30″ scarf but I see they also sell a 17″ x 17″. And if you could give a quick tutorial on how you tied it, that would be great! Thank you so much!

  14. I love little silky scarves, and you styled it very cute, but I am always cold, and like the bulkier scarves for warmth!
    I wear both!

  15. I have my mother’s Bible, and in the front she wrote a quote from a preacher she heard speak at a revival: “This book will keep me from sin, or sin I’ll keep me from this book.” I think our mothers were a lot alike, Cyndi!

I used to wear neck scarves a lot “back in the day”! I do hope infinity scarves stick around a while longer. I am 5′ 10″, and those scarves help balance me. Oh, well; I’ll still wear mine even if they don’t! 😉
