Jesus Is Our Comfort

I think we all, at times, need to be reminded that Jesus is our comfort. 2 Corinthians, 1:3b says God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort.

When Harry Lauder, the great Scottish comedian, received word that his son had been killed in France, he said, “In a time like this, there are three courses open to man: He may give way to despair and become bitter. He may endeavor to drown his sorrow in drink or in a life of wickedness. Or he may turn to God.”

Christ is the answer, no matter what we face.

Are you afraid? Read Isaiah 51:2, “I, yes I, am the one who comforts you. So why are you afraid of mere humans, who wither like the grass and disappear?

Do you have troubles? Read Psalm 119:50, Your promise revives me; it comforts me in all my troubles

Do you need hope? Read Romans 15:4, For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.

Are you mourning a loss? Read Matthew 5:4, Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted.

Are you worried about death? Read Psalm 24:4, Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me

Can you think of anyone who needs comforting? Let’s be the hands and feet of Christ and comfort them today!

Christmas is all about tradition and over the last several years, I have shared this song so it’s kind of a tradition.

I want to make sure as a family that we celebrate Jesus. While we will be excited about all the gifts and we’ll cherish our time together, I want to make sure we celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.

This week, I’ll order a birthday cake for Jesus. On Christmas day we’ll sing Happy Birthday to Jesus and we will share gifts that we want to give Jesus in the coming year.

Merry Christmas!

  2. Please join me in lifting up my husband, Gary and his ex-wife Wendy with prayers of comfort and hope. Their 22 year old son Levi died 5 years ago today. He committed suicide. I pray for Levi’s soul and that God has him safe in His arms.

  3. I pray you and all those following, also will feel God’s comfort and peace today! Thank you for this post! God bless you and your family!

  4. Thanks for sharing Cyndi….sooooo good. When my 1st born daughter was just 2 yrs. old, I started the tradition of giving Jesus a b’day cake and singing Happy Birthday to HIm and letting her blow out the candle. I used a butter horn the first time I thought of it, because it was what I had at the time. So, from that day forward it had to be a butter horn, according to her and my other 2 kids. 🙂 Even now, 3 grown kids later & 2 son-in-law’s, we still do the same tradition. 🙂 Have a blessed Sunday.

  5. Thank you so much for this, my mother in law passed yesterday after a long battle with cancer and this came at the perfect moment.
