How Do We Glorify God?

Jesus clearly commands that the goal of our lives should be to behave so that God gets the glory. Matthew 5:14-16 says, Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

We should live so others will see our life and give our Father in heaven the glory. John 3:30 says, He must become greater; I must become less.

How do we glorify God? What does this look in our everyday life?

  • It’s giving God glory on the good days and on the bad days.
  • It’s giving God glory in our marriage.
  • It’s giving God glory in our joys.
  • It’s giving God glory in our sorrows.
  • It’s giving God glory in the mundane and also in the extraordinary.

Not for our sake, God, no, not for our sake, but for your name’s sake, show your glory. Do it on account of your merciful love, do it on account of your faithful ways. Do it so none of the nations can say, “Where now, oh where is their God?” Psalm 115:1

God gets glory NOT when we strive to be perfect but when we rely upon His strength and trust in Him each and everyday. We let His light shine.

Let’s glorify Him today!

This song reminds us to increase our love so those around us will see Jesus and let all my life tell of who YOU are.

  1. Thanks so much for this. So simple and so true. I pray that we as believers and followers of God through Jesus Christ will leanr to put all our trust on him.

  2. Thanks for reminding us that we need to remember to give glory to God always & forever! You touch so many with your words. Love your blog!

  3. Good article! I have a question about your blog, though. Are you not posting on Saturdays’ any more? Or am I getting your blog mixed up with someone else’s and you never posted on Saturdays?

  4. Precious sentiments, Cyndi. When our Praise Team sang this morning, I looked at the congregation as we sang “Create in me a Clean Heart, Oh God”, and saw people’s hearts on their faces as they worshipped. That is my prayer–to daily ask Him to “renew a right spirit within me.” Thanks for your words that bless me all the time…

  5. Thank you for the timely reminder and beautiful song. I was very sorry to read of your family’s trials recently and am praying for peace and healing. I look forward to another fashion post tomorrow. I even love “Warm Me Up” the lip color you suggested. 🙂 Thanks again.

  6. Thanks for the post today. It is very appropriate for I had been planning to email to share the good news. Approximately two years I emailed to ask for prayers my daughter’s pastor and his wife from Charlotte , NC who had lost their three year old son and unborn child in a car accident on Memorial Day. The pastor had officialted his sister’s wedding on Friday night . Saturday, the day of the accident, was the pastor’s wedding anniversary. Well in court they forgave the young man for his carelessness in causing the deaths. I think this speaks volumes as to who this young couple is. Now two years later, they are expecting twins. God is good!

  7. Hey Cyndi. Got a question. Want to retreat to a small town in Kentucky. Love to walk and shop. Love antiques. Hope you can help. Have a great evening! Dee

  8. Beautiful song. Thanks Cyndi. We’ve been talking about this very subject in our small group. We want our lives to show HIM, in the good and the bad. Just another reminder in your song.
