Spring Handbag Trends 2017

It’s hard to believe in a few weeks it will be time for my spring series. I have been looking at some of the spring styles and trends in clothes, jewelry and handbags.

Today I’m sharing spring handbag trends for 2017. Now let me begin by saying the classic handbags are always in style. I will spend more money on a classic handbag because it can be carried season after season.

Trendy handbags are a fun accessory to add to your outfits but I personally don’t want to spend as much money on a trendy handbag,

Here are some trendy bags coming this spring. I picked several neutral color handbags but you’ll find them in all different colors.

Hobo Handbag-The once forgotten hobo bag is undeniably everywhere. The sizes are bigger, colors are brighter, and slouches are deeper.

Ring Handle Handbag-The accessory of the season, bold circle handles for dangling from your wrist.

Mini crossbody bag-Last year’s mini bag shrinks to an even smaller size this year.

Flapover saddlebag-This resurged classic bag is feminine and functional, and now it’s updated with flashy hardware.

Guitar Strap and Tassel AccessoriesI saw these guitar straps last year and I’m seeing them this spring. These straps can be added to your handbags for a different look. Also, adding tassels and pom pom’s to your handbags is on trend.

Circle Crossbody BagA sturdy round bag takes the graphic trend you’ll see in prints and incorporates it into a crossbody bag.

Backpack-The athleisure look is popular and I think the backpack goes well with that look.

I have seen a lot of these rings added to handbags both as a handle or as an added touch. Here is a a splurge vs. save option. If you’re looking for affordable handbags, Sole Society is one of my favorite places to shop.

Beauty for the Heart~~God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God. Matthew 5:9

To be a peacemaker is to be the person who reconciles people to each other. We are to be peacemakers not only in our own family but in a troubled world. Peacemakers reflect the character of our heavenly Father and when we encourage peace, God calls us children of God.

We desperately need peace today. Are you promoting peace in your family, on social media, at work??

Let’s be peacemakers!

  1. I actually bought a Michi purse 7 years ago and haven’t used another one since. The main part remains the same and I can change up the color/pattern/handles on the outside. The outside is held on with magnets. No more leaving things in my other purse when I switch out. Only exception to this is when I travel, I like to be hands free and have a cross body bag. These are all super cute purses!

  2. Love the input on the bags Cyndi. I am a handbag addictt! ugh! Sole Society and Target are great places for someone like me who has too many ;-( …. I do try and sell them once I don’t use them anymore so that helps right???
    HA!

  3. Cute purses! I have two blush ones in the closet that are Jessica Simpson. My daughter loves loves loves purses so she shops with me. I am the shoe addict & she is the purse lover so we swap out helping one another. Come on Springtime although it is wet & warm today. 🙂

  4. Love the purse blog. I have had my eye on the blush color ones coming out. I love the blush trend and with navy it looks so nice. I like purses, but I tend to buy for just the seasons and keep the same purse all those months, as I’m not a fan of switching all my STUFF out from one purse to another. 🙂 But, when I see your different purses/clutches you style, I want to try using more of my purses I have stashed away. Thanks Cyndi for the teaching on peace. It was just at the right time and just what I needed to hear. Funny you are having Spring weather, when over here in the Northwest we are having Winter snows.

  5. I love handbags! I’d love a lighter pink one for spring but don’t think it’s something I could carry long-term.

I hear you about the weather! We also live in Kentucky. My son’s birthday is March 6 and we are trying to decide if we can plan a party at home outside with a bunch of young boys. It could either be 70 degrees or a blizzard!

  6. I’m such a “bag lady”!!! I love color and am more luckily to buy a new bag than a new top.

Cyndi, I’m just a little south of you and was just saying I’m afraid winter will get here when it’s supposed to be spring.

  7. And I LOVE the reference to scripture on peace. Boy we need that in this world, the true peace of God which passers all understanding. 😀

  8. These are all really cute purses – and I should try at least one. I’m one of those lazy women who buys a purse (usually a classic, and expensive one) and use it year after year for a few years, until I replace it. I do usually switch out from fall/winter to spring/summer. I will occasionally use a clutch for a night out, or a smaller bag when shopping but then I feel like I don’t have something I may need – 🙂 – you know, hand lotion, nail file, one of the half dozen tubes of lip stuff – HA! Thanks for the Sole Society suggestion.

  9. I love purses!!! This is definitely my weakness – you can ask any of my friends!! I love the flap over saddle bag one from above. I’m going to keep my eyes out….not that I need anymore purses. I actually have a purse closet – very sad! But very fun!!! 🙂 Looking forward to your spring series!

  10. It’s fun to see the new trends in handbags, however, I’m extremely picky about the style, durability and function of the bags I carry. I almost always make classic handbag purchases and am willing to invest $$ in them so they’re in style year after year after year. Having said that, I’ve had fun adding a trendy pom pom or tassel to my classics so I’m still be on fleek with the latest trends!

I’ve been enjoying your Beattitudes teachings Cyndi. Our nation desperately needs peace. Thank you for reminding us to be peacemakers in all areas of our lives. It’s a blessing to be a daughter of the Prince of Peace!

    1. I have a backpack purse that I have used on and off for 10 years. I wear it both ways. I choose it when I want to have my hands free. I’m using it right now because I’m on crutches. I only have 3 purses and the backpack one is one that survived my purging.

  11. Cyndi I am just like you. I’ll buy an inexpensive trendy bag knowing that next year it will be out of style, especially if it’s a specific trendy color. But, I have a few, more expensive options that are my go-to bag year after year. Can’t go wrong with a black purse!
