Black Maxi Dress + Denim Jacket

Good morning! I have to say I’m in love with this black maxi dress from Gap. It’s the perfect maxi dress and it comes in several colors including a blue stripe. Also, Gap is having a 40% off sale!

I’ll wear this maxi dress to church with my denim jacket but it will be great on vacation too. I also feel like I could wear it over my bathing suit with some flat sandals if I’m spending a day at the pool.

Black Maxi Dress + Denim JacketThe dress has a split neck but it’s not low so there’s no need to wear a cami under it. Thank you!

Black Maxi Dress + Denim JacketI kept my jewelry simple with a wrap bracelet. I also added my leopard clutch.

Black Maxi Dress + Denim JacketI’m wearing a razorback bra. This bra works great with so many summer outfits.

Since Gap is having a 40% off sale, I ordered these two items. Several of you have asked if I would style crop wide leg jeans so I’m going to give these a try.

Thank you for taking time out of your day to stop by my blog. I’m on FacebookPinterest and my favorite one, Instagram.

Beauty For the Heart~~This was my devotion this morning and just what I needed to read. Such a good reminder!

  1. The older I get the more I like maxi dresses and the coverage they provide. This one looks great on you! This has been my go to teacher outfit this spring, minus the tan shoes. I really do like the tan shoes and plan on doing the same. I’ll have to put the denim jacket away soon. It’s going to be over 80 degrees in PA tomorrow-and my school has no air conditioning.

  2. I really like that you styled a black maxi dress because I plan to wear one this weekend to a wedding reception. I was going to wear a white denim jackets with a statement necklace and black wedges but I like the way you styled the dress and my copy your ideas. I read your blog every day and really enjoy it.

  3. Long time follower but first time posting a comment. Really really love this look on you the length of the dress and the colour of your jean jacket are beautiful! Great job styling this outfit 🙂

  4. Love the look. You are the one who taught me to wear different color shoes with black beside always grabbing my black shoes. 🙂 I don’t own a jean jackets, as every time I go to buy one, I don’t think there is much to wear with it. I think only white jeans and sundresses. Anything else? Do you think a light or darker jean would be best. I still think 80’s/90’s when I think to buy one, but when you style them, they are so cute and in. 🙂 Love the coral color in the maxi dress too, but thinking the black is more neural and could get by wearing it more often. Love the idea of it as a pool cover up. Thinking of ordering since 40% off and I have $20 off coupon. Makes the dress really cheap. 🙂

  5. Cyndi, You look very nice in this maxi dress! I think it is very versatile and something you will go too a lot. I live the Beauty For The Heart today!

  6. Love this look and have pieces very similar to what you are wearing. I will now throw my leopard purse with my black maxi dress and jean jacket. Wish that I look as adorable as you in your outfits. Thanks for continuing to inspire us.

  7. Good morning Cyndi, I love this outfit on you, both with the denim jacket and without! Love your hair pulled back also, so pretty! I needed to hear your devotion this morning also, thank you for sharing! Have a great afternoon!😍

  8. I am almost 69 and I love seeing how you put different pieces together to create new looks and expand/use your wardrobe! Love seeing the side-by-side photos of how you style an outfit different ways. Helps me look outside the box to see increased potential for my own wardrobe. You always look beautiful and I always look forward to your posts of faith and fashion! God bless you

  9. Love the outfit. You look beautiful as usual:) I will definitely be heading to the Gap!! (length is always a concern for me as I’m only 5″3) but I get lucky sometimes depending on the style.
Hope you have a wonderful Day.

  10. Love the dress because I love to wear black. I could see, me and my twenty yr old daughter sharing this dress. Funny, but I would go for a black shoe and like how you are wearing a tan shoe instead. I really need to get out of my old habits lol ☺️

  11. I think you look great in maxi dresses! I wondered if you could mention what the perfect length for the hem is this year? I bought a couple of maxi dresses last summer at Old Navy and they are both super long. I can hardly find shoes to work with them. I’m 5’7″ and can’t imagine how anyone shorter could wear them! 🙂 Also, thanks for the link for the bra…definitely need one of those! 🙂

  12. Very pretty Cyndi- as always! Have you ever done a post on your eye makeup (products, techniques)? Your eyes always looks so pretty!

  13. My mom (the 70’s model on my blog) has a dress like this—it’s really quite the basic piece because it does work for so many occasions!
I love how you layered a denim jacket over it—we’re going to do a series on denim jacket in a couple of weeks since they are everywhere!!
