Well, we are in full summer mode! It’s time for vacations, pools, cookouts, and long hot days. I often find during the summer months, when everything is a little laid back, I can get lazy with my Bible reading if I’m not careful.
I have felt over the last few weeks that the word “abide” keeps coming to my mind. To abide means to remain, stay, wait, continue, and endure.
Some words are mentioned quite a few times in scripture and when they are, I think there’s a reason. Abide is mentioned over one hundred times.
Christ is reminding us to abide. Abide in Him, in His word, and in His grace. It takes discipline to slow down and remain in God’s word but without it, we can’t live victoriously.
Here are some scriptures that remind us to remain in Christ.
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. John 15:7
Anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son. 2 John 1:9
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. John 15:4
Let’s make this a summer not only about vacations and cookouts but full of growing closer to Christ!
Have a blessed Sunday!
Wayne and I are heading west and checking off places on our bucket list that we have want to visit. We are headed to Badlands National Park today.
Our first stop was St. Louis Missouri at the Gateway Arch.
