How To Wear Wide Leg Crop Jeans

Happy hump day from Montana! We were in Yellowstone National Park yesterday and this was our view. Snow!! Needless to say, I wasn’t thrilled although it was beautiful.

Thankfully, it’s going to be prettier today so we’re going to do some hiking. We’re staying in a small town outside the park for a couple of nights.

Now, lets talk wide leg crop jeans. The trend for a while has been over sized tops and skinny bottoms. I like the trend but I think we’re going to see a shift to bigger bottoms and fitted tops.

How To Wear Wide Leg Crop JeansThese wide leg crops are from Gap, they are a high rise with a wide leg opening.

How To Wear Wide Leg Crop JeansWhen styling wide leg crops, start with a slightly more fitted top and tuck it in or at least do a front tuck. If you don’t want to tuck your top in, then a shorter top or slightly cropped top is a good idea.

When picking out a shoe, go with a wedge or heeled sandal. These jeans can make you look wide and short so lengthen your legs with a heel or a wedge and even better keep the color nude to help lengthen your leg.

Have you tried any wide crop leg jeans or pants?

  1. I have a cute pair from Kensie that have frayed ends. I love them! I wear them with slip on tennis shoes and a cute tee or tank for a more casual look

  2. I do like those jeans on you but they would never work on me. I would look wide even with a heel. Nice to see different looks though! Have fun!

  3. Cyndi I love this look on you! You look great. I’m a plus size women and I like the wide leg jeans, and the whole outfit thanks it’s beautiful.

  4. This style would not be for me, but you can get away with it! I personally like the skinny jean on you. It was a mere 94 degrees in Louisville today. Ha!

  5. Girl, you make everything look great. I bought those jeans both in denim & white. I love them, but you have to be more selective with you wear with them. They also look great with off the shoulder tops. I look so forward to your post each day.

  6. I love wide-leg crops and have been wearing them a couple of years already. Could I
suggest you hem them a couple inches shorter so they look more intentional and not
like you just outgrew them. The right length is so important to the overall look based on
    Individual proportions.

  7. Thank you for showing us these jeans. If anyone can pull these off, it definitely would be you! You look very cute! However, I don’t think I’ll be trying this look anytime soon. I’ve learned to never say never, but I don’t think these would look flattering on me. I do appreciate you showing us new trends. Again, these look beautiful on you!!

  8. The scenery is beautiful! Thanks for sharing. The wide legs jeans and tucked top look great on you. Do these run a little big or have you lost weight? I believe you normally post a larger size.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your time!! God’s blessings of safe travels!

  9. I love a wide leg pant but not sure about the shorter leg – think on many folks (me included) they would make me look shorted and more squat than I already am, LOL. Ha – I lived in NH for many years and we had several years with snow right through the end of June up in the mountains where I lived. Don’t miss that but also not a huge fan of the humidity / mugginess of SW Georgia either (where I live now) and the tornadoes, etc. Can’t win, LOL.

  10. Not a fan of this look.
I think wide leg pants look good if they are long but short wide leg pants make you look shorter and wider and who needs that. I am short so this is definitly a no go for me.

  11. Girlfriend! You’re wearing a Size 26 in these jeans? Seriously?? “Wow” is all I can say–you look wonderful, and I’m impressed that you can pull off a high waist in that size. Good for you!

So glad you’re on this trip with Wayne. How cool for the two of you to see so much of this beautiful country. I’m thrilled that you have the time to do this together. Love you!

  12. Cyndi! You wear these so well! Just adorable girl! If I had your long legs and figure I would def try these! Being vertically challenged and hippy they sadly don’t work for me. 🙁

  13. I agree with everyone that you look fabulous in these. I also vote these are not for me. They really do require us to think too much to make it work!

  14. I think they are cute Cyndi. I have wide legged pants in linen that I love for summer. They are light weight and cool to wear. They are from Tommy Bahamas. I have also seen some cute ones that have a very thin light coloured stripe in the Sundance catalog similar to mine

    1. For shorter gals, (I am 5’5″) you may want to try regular length wide legged in linen with a flat leather sandal. I think the cropped length looks super cute with wedges like Cyndi shows! I hope this helps.

  15. Great outfit today, Cyndi! I would wear the wide-legged jeans, and I love the higher waist. But I would probably wear with an even slimmer top, maybe a sleeveless tank for a more fitted t-shirt and a cropped jacket. I am 5’7″ so I think I can pull it off! Enjoy your westward vacation! Safe travels!!!

  16. Not a fan of this look.. Reminds me of elementary school when boys outgrew their pants but kept wearing them. Haha. But you look cute, Cyndi!

  17. We did the same vacation last year… we hit Mall of the American first ! Then badland, Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, then Jackson Hole Wy (be sure to take the ski lift) Loved it… Just order the pants, not sure of them, but will try it ! lol… I turn 50yo next week – and still keeping the style !

  18. Do you ever look bad in anything? Ha Ha You look so cute in this outfit. I don’t think I’ll be doing the wide leg crop, as I’m much shorter than you, but from the past I’ve learned to never say never about fashion. I love the white top and thinking of ordering it. Its 50% off is good. 🙂 Wow!!! Can’t believe the miles you’ve driven so far. What a fun vacation. But, probably disappointing to see snow in June, but yes its beautiful. Thanks for sharing your days with us. 🙂

  19. Yeah not a fan of the wide leg crop… had a pair ages ago and made me look wider and shorter than I actually am so tossed them in the give away bin. You look great in them though and how you put it together makes them look nice on you. I will probably stay with the skinny look for now, unless everyone I see is wearing that style( and even then I would have to think twice.) Not sure how I would feel about seeing snow in June either, as I don’t want to even see it in January lol,,,, but sounds like a nice trip nevertheless.

  20. Cyndi – this looks adorable on you! I LOVE those shoes. What is the currency for the shoe website? Is that US dollars? Have a great vacation!

  21. Personally, I am not a fan of this look. And if it becomes a trend — then count me out. I think women of a certain age look more appropriate in pants or slacks that have a flattering line to them or in skinny jeans or leggings with a tunic top. When I was a young gal, we used to refer to pants that looked like this as “high-waters.” They cut a woman’s body off at an unflattering place on the leg. But you, Cyndi, look adorable in anything you model for us and I always look forward to seeing your “look of the day.” You have such beautiful legs . . why wear an article of clothing that does not enhance that part of the body? Suffice it to say, they are not for me! LOL

  22. I have a pair of dressy wide leg crops! I got them at WHBM. I think the key is the right shoes. I’ve worn the outfit to church several times. I’m 5’1″, so I won’t be wearing this style with flats.

    1. Joan I am glad to hear that. I am 5’0 and not sure about the crop wide leg. I love them and definitely should be worn with heels. I will have to give them a try

  23. If anyone can get away with the wide leg crop, it’s you. This post is the only example I’ve seen where that style of pants didn’t look ridiculous. But I think there are always a few styles going on that are wildly unflattering to any human being, and wide leg crops fall into that category IMO. Sometimes it seems like fashion designers are just trying to entertain themselves, rather than trying to help women look their best. Have a great trip…I’m from Colorado and we’ll just moved to Las Vegas to escape the freezing snow!

  24. I would say no to these jeans! They would make me look even shorter than I already am. I think you have to be very tall and thin to pull these off.

  25. So I don’t do change really well and the same goes with new fashion trends. I have a hard time jumping right in and typically have to wait a while and come around to them. I think that will definitely be true for the wide leg crops. My legs are pretty short, so I have a feeling I’ll pretty “stumpy” in them. You look cute, so yay for you!! I can’t believe there’s snow in Yellowstone. We have friends coming out right after the 4th of July and they’re going to Yellowstone. I hope the snow is gone by then. Have fun hiking!!!

  26. I’ve seen wide leg crops that I really like. I think the drape of the fabric makes all the difference. I don’t care for the pair you chose to style, too stiff with denim.

  27. You look awesome, but those pants are way out of my comfort zone! I really like Loft’s kick crop pants, but the extra “bigness” of the leg of these seem like would get in the way when I walk!

  28. I am so glad you styled this outfit today Cyndi! I recently purchased a pair of cropped flares from Old Navy, and haven’t worn them, because I couldn’t figure out what to pair them with. Enjoy your vacay! And the snow!

  29. Love where you are Cyndi! I was born and raised in Livingston, MT! It is so beautiful there…. but it is cold😁. I treally don’t know if this trend will take off. I’m sure our eyes will adjust in time. YOU look fabulous in everything! But, I’m short with very full hips and breasts and a short torso….. I don’t see myself wearing this any time soon…. Thanks for being brave and trying new things. Blessings Krista

  30. I don’t think I’ll be jumping on that bandwagon…the wide jeans are not for me. You look cute in everything you model…

  31. Wow, I”m just now getting used the skinny leg crops! They’re cute on you, but not for me. Thanks for sharing your trip with us. Glad we don’t have snow here in Kentucky though!

  32. WOW! beautiful scenery – and I agree – snow in June? What a fantastic trip!
Cute outfit, especially love the shirt! I’m still on the fence about cropped wide leg jeans, even though I did buy a pair of dressy black, wide-leg pants from WHBM just this past weekend. You are right, a cropped or fitted top is a must with these otherwise they make you look wide from shoulder to toe – I don’t need any help looking wider :).

    1. also, saw that purse last Saturday in BR and it is so cute! more of a tote than a purse but would be super cute on vacation in a tropical location.

  33. Sorry but don’t like those pants at all. Can’t say I like the purse either. Been really loving your recent outfits but this is a definite miss for me.

  34. They look very cute on you. Thank you for the daily inspiration you give. Travel mercies and have a wonderful time!!! 🤗 Dee

  35. I just ordered a pair of these ….we’ll see how they look! I remember wearing them a long time ago … but that was when I was much thinner LOL.
You look great! Enjoy the beautiful west!

  36. I LOVE the wide leg pant look and even own a few pairs. I’m tall 5’7″ so I’ve always liked this style and yes I wear with either a slights wedge or even flat sandals.

  37. Thanks for trying something different today Cyndi. Welcome to the “North”! Of course I am still a good 8-9 hours north of where you are, but am used to seeing snow in May/June! LOL! I love the look of a wide leg pant, but because I am bigger on the bottom, I tend to stay away from them. I love that purse – it is so cute!
