Pineapple Stripe Tunic/Dress

Hello from the Grand Teton mountain range! Today I’m styling a pineapple stripe dress/tunic. For those who are shorter than me (I’m 5’6″), this would be a great casual dress. If you’re my height or taller, adding a pair of white crop jeans would be cute.

I did think after taking the pictures, this was a little short one me. But it would be a perfect casual dress to wear on vacation at the beach or the lake.

I’m wearing the All that Glimmers Earrings and they look cute with so many of my outfits.

Since the dress is short on me, I went with a flat sandal, wearing a heel would have made it look even shorter.

This is such a comfy and cute dress/tunic!

  1. This is a perfect cover up for my swimming suit. It’s light, cool, short, I like it. Three more days until the lazy days of summer will be here. As fast as it comes it will go. Praying for safe travel for you guys.

  2. Dress is very cute, but for myself I’d probably wear it as a coverup or something under it. It’s hard to stay cool in 100 degree temps, no matter what you wear! Have fun in Vegas! I have been several times, and there is SO much to do even if you don’t gamble!

  3. It’s cute, but just from looking at these pics, it feels like a swimsuit cover up to me. And all 5 of your pics are pretty much the same. I like when you show different views. It would’ve been nice to see a closer pic of the design on the dress and even the earrings.

    1. I love this dress on you! I think it is the perfect length for a vacation. Love all your pictures of your trip and I hope you enjoy your time out west!

  4. What a great photo! A warm summer outfit with snow on the Tetons in the background! You and the mountains are both beautiful!!

  5. Donnie and Marie have a wonderful show! My husband and I have seen it twice – great voices, great talent!
I highly recommend it as a nice, clean show, very entertaining!

  6. Cute outfit, Cyndi! I would love to hear any of your ideas about what to wear in Las Vegas, especially date night outfits to wear to shows and nicer restaurants. My husband and I will be in Vegas next month. Thanks for your inspiration and ideas!

  7. Are you doing the Proverbs 31 First 5 bible study “Christ Alone”? The reason I am asking is because today we studied Philippians 4:6 and the author pointed out 3 very important words that precede it which I had never noticed before, “The Lord is near.” How easy it is to overlook the fact that if we hold God near to us at all times, believe and trust in His promises, we can overcome our tendencies to worry about things over which we have no control and let Satan steal our joy. It has taken me many years of studying God’s word and meditating on it as well as prayer to realize that when I truly am in the presence of God and allow Him to draw near and be a part of every area of my life, then I can experience true peace. Thank you for sharing these 3 important words. God bless you and your husband always.

  8. Hi I just signed up to your blog today and this is my first comment.
First I want to say how wonderful it is that you have your faith out front and center, what a breath of fresh air 🙂
My husband and I were married in Vegas in 03 and both very happy in our love for each other and The Lord.
I’m 5’4″ and love wearing these type dresses in the warm weather so make sure to keep this one handy in Vegas.
    Lynn

  9. I think this is a perfect vacation dress!
And I’m loving living vicariously thru your travel pics. Have fun!

  10. Perfect summer dress for the heat! Come to Phoenix…we’re gonna be 109 today, but wait, 118 on Monday and 120 on Tuesday!

  11. You look so cute in this dress!!!! I live in Las Vegas, and I hope you’ll consider taking the short drive over to Red Rock Canyon. It’s only 30 minutes west of the strip and very easy to get to. If you go first thing in the morning, it should be cool enough to take short walks, and the scenery is a special geological wonder. Oddly enough, we grew up in Colorado, and we enjoy our time in Red Rock Canyon even more than we did in the Rocky Mountains. It’s a really special place. If you’ll be here on the weekend, and you do go to Red Rock, get there as early in the morning as possible to avoid waiting in line to get in. And the visitor center is great. Whatever you do, the time from five to nine in the morning is very nice weather. Happy travels!!!

    1. My family will be traveling to Vegas in October. We have a 10 year old son ~ would you let me know some things we should do, restaurant, and best kid friendly hotel? Thank you!

      1. Hi Betsy!
Sorry for the lag in reply. I think the best hotels in Vegas for kids are the Excalibur, The Golden Nugget and Treasure Island. Whatever you do, avoid the Cosmopolitan!

If your son likes animals and the old west, he’d have a lot of fun at Bonnie Springs Ranch. They have a wild west show out in the open that bystanders can watch, and a petting zoo (I think $7.00 a person). And they also have an INCREDIBLE restaurant. It’s in a very rustic, historic cabin with a huge stone fireplace, and it’s on the edge of a pond where peacocks wander around. The chef makes everything from scratch and it’s DELICIOUS!! By far, the restaurant at Bonnie Springs is our favorite place in Vegas. It’s also in a gorgeous setting, (Red Rock Canyon), where you will find a wide variety of hiking trails for all abilities. It’s a 30 minute drive west of the Strip, and really easy to get to. The visitor center up there is really interesting as far as desert geology and wildlife go. This is not just another canyon; it’s a very unusual place that attracts geologists from all over the world. It may be the most spectacular attraction in Vegas, lol.

The Golden Nugget, (in the older part of town), has a swimming pool where you can slide down a tube that’s inside a shark aquarium. (If your son likes sharks, this might be the best place to stay, although it’s not on the new part of the Strip.) The shark reef at Mandalay Bay is also fun. And while you’re wandering around on the Strip, New York, New York has a roller coaster that goes inside and outside the building. Watching the fountains at the Bellagio is fun for kids, and they also have an indoor botanical garden that’s very grand in scale and also playful. It’s free, just walk into the Bellagio and you’ll see it. Kids love it! Watching the pirates at Treasure Island is also a great activity for kids while you’re walking the Strip – you watch it from the sidewalk.

I don’t know how much time you’ll have, but the Hoover Dam is another really unique and monumental place that would be interesting to kids. It’s just huge, impressive, bizarre and has beautiful sculptures. One of those things you’d never see anyplace else, lol. And there are cruises on Lake Mead that are fun.

Most people who take the helicopter rides say that was the most fun thing to do here. My son did that, and he and his friends loved it. It’s super pricey, but totally unforgettable.

One thing, the Strip involves tons of walking and the key to having fun is lots of water and very comfortable shoes!!! The dry air will do a number on you if you don’t guzzle a lot of water. And if your feet don’t hurt after walking 5 miles, you’ll have a blast! You’re coming at a great time of year. If your son has any particular interests, I might be able to come up with more specific suggestions. Hope you have a wonderful time! Barbara

  12. Enjoy LasVegas! It is different than anything else you will experience. Lots of fun and can be different with each visit. So many shows and museums, and wilderness to experience. You can have a wonderful time and never even gamble….which can be boring, really….unless you win, of course! LOL

  13. Cute tunic! We live in Roswell, New Mexico where this week has been 100+ in temps! We have driven through Las Vegas (Nevada) but haven’t spent time there as we aren’t gamblers and the shows are extremely expensive.

  14. Love the pineapple. It’s a cute dress and would make a great cover up at the beach too. You guys are logging some major miles. I want to go to Vegas, but my husband used to have to go for business and hates it there. It’s quite the destination now and I predict you like it in a weird sort of way. Loving watching y’alls progress. Happy Friday!

  15. Very cute on you. For a summer dress replacing shorts, I don’t think it looks too short. I’m 5’3″, so might work for me. Looks very comfortable and great for packing for a trip. Thanks for continuing to share with us while you are busy on vacation. Boy, you guys really are traveling this way. What is your final stop out West?

  16. First off the dress/tunic is cute and I say when you are “away” you can get away with more stuff that if you were just walking around your own city. Needless to say, if you are looking for something to do “inside” in Vegas I HIGHLY recommend the Mob Museum….seriously it is so incredibly interesting.

  17. I live in a small rural town only about 2 hours north of Las Vegas! My husband and I are going to Vegas today to the Family Life Weekend to Remember marriage conference. Too bad we couldn’t hook up for dinner lol. I would love to meet you! Vegas can be fun if you like the city- there’s tons to do and see, but the Nevada mountains are some of God’s greatest creations! Be prepared for intense desert heat. It’s supposed to get up to around 113 this weekend! Have a wonderful time and God bless your travels.

  18. I definitely agree with going to see Red Rock Canyon or Mt Charleston. We were there last fall. We live in Northern Nevada and it is way different than Las Vegas.

  19. Cyndi, I hope y’all can drive between Pahrump & Las Vegas, NV to see Red Rock Canyon. It is absolutely breathtaking out there. We used to own a lot in Pahrump, many years ago. While Las Vegas is known for the gambling, etc., there is still a lot of God’s creation to take in. That is a very cute and comfortable looking dress. MT & WY are two of my favorite states where we have vacationed. Alaska is also in my top three. Safe travels!

  20. Love this dress! It looks just perfect on you and will be great for 100+ temps in Las Vegas!! You are looking great by the way! I have begun intermittent fasting as well to shed my last few pounds and I’m loving it.

As always, thanks for sharing 🙂

  21. Love the little dress it’s cute on you and not too short for what you wore it for… looks casual and comfy. Enjoy Vegas, my husband and I were there many years ago and the buildings alone are worth seeing. What structural detail they all have(absolutely beautiful). You’ll have some awesome places for pics that’s for sure. And it is a place that doesn’t sleep lol. Have fun😉

  22. You look fantastic – as usual! The Grand Tetons are beautiful and I’m happy that you and your husband get to experience such beauty together. Were you freezing when you took these photos? 🙂
Just looking at the snow covered mountains makes me shiver. I sure wish I was there as it is blazing hot here in NC. Enjoy the rest of your vacation!

  23. Adorable!!!! I love it, and it is so cute on you!!!! I have about 6 miles of legs, so i would add some crop jean leggings depending on where i was going.

  24. I think it is a cute vacation dress! Looks like you are having the trip of a lifetime. I hope you tell us more about your trip….this is on my bucket list. Safe travels!

  25. Cute outfit! Looks like you’re having some awesome weather! Being 5’7″ I would add my cropped white leggings to this. What a cute tunic, I love how it flows away from the body. I look forward to your daily travelogue!!

  26. The dress is very cute and not too short. You are in a beautiful part of this great country of ours. Enjoy. Vegas is fun but you will be ready to leave after 2 days!
