Basic Fall Wardrobe Essentials

It’s that time of year when I start looking at my fall wardrobe and see what pieces I need to replace. Yesterday I shared an outfit with some of my wardrobe essentials.

I try to buy quality pieces that will last more than one season and then replace them every few years as needed.

These are the pieces that I can mix and match and wear with trendy pieces or just add some cute accessories and voilà, I’m ready to go!

Basic Fall Wardrobe Essentials

1. White Tee-This has to be replace more often because most of them yellow.

  1. To help whites stay white you can use blueing. My mother always used Mrs. Stewart’s Blueing. It only takes a few drops added to a wash load so a bottle lasts forever and you can also use it to make really cool crystal formations for science experiments.

  2. Please tell me scarves are still in. I love them. I may be the only one wearing them this season but I won’t care. Just adds style and warmth. I have soooo many. I bought a Fall red military jacket last Fall and it’s a little hard to wear with a lot. I keep thinking I have to stay so neutral or clashes. Like white, cream, cream and black stripe etc. any ideas. I love the color and jacket but didn’t wear much last year. 🙁

  4. Have you tried dyeing your black jeans? It definitely makes a difference and you can get longer wear out of them. I do this with my dark corduroys and black jeans. You can also dye faded blue jeans, too.

  5. Have you found any particular fiber content that has less yellowing? We also have more graying with higher cotton content. The cardigan has to be my favorite.

  6. Thx for suggestions, I did pu a new green jacket. Last year I had bought new things and we never had cold weather so have all that clothing for this year. Makes me sad cause love to pu a few new things. I’m like you I have basic jeans, black pants, Kakki and tops to interchange. I always keep up to date Cardigan to chg with colors. Always enjoy your Blog. BGreen

  7. Love your suggestions. I would have to add a grey / black sweater or top as my go to basics as well that I can dress up or down with accessories. Also a denim jacket ( I did purchase an inexpensive olive green jacket this year) also a casual sneaker shoe in a neutral or metallic. Thanks again for sharing.

  8. I love the Fall and Winter, and I’m so looking forward to it! I’m really into the sage green and burgundy for this fall. I’ve ordered a cardigan in each color from Talbots. I’m also looking to replace my black jeans and I want a pair of the sage/olive green jeans, I love a denim top with the olive jeans. Thanks for all of your inspiration with our style and as Christian women! Have a great afternoon!😊

  9. Great selections Cyndi !!! I work outside the home therefore, I have several blazers that can be dressed up or down. I also have a couple of vests that I enjoy wearing at work on Fridays and the weekends. Looking forward to your fall fashion. ~Lisa~

  10. Good news for me is that I have most of the items on this list! 🙂 Just need some good black jeans. I must say that I LOVE that neutral sweater that you have posted. It looks soooo comfy!
As I work outside of the home, I would also add a skirt, some high boots, and a blazer.

  11. Love the selections. I am on the hunt for a good white tee. The one that you show is listed as semi sheer and I can’t wear those because sometimes in transitional weather I’ll take my cardigan off when I get hot and I don’t want anything see-through on. Any suggestions on white tees that aren’t see through?

    Thanks so much!

  12. I agree with all your suggestions, and I would add to this a black tee or blouse – can be worn with so much. For those of us who work outside of the home, a very lightweight dressier “over” jacket is nice to have. Especially when the mornings start getting a bit cooler, but then the afternoon warms up.

  13. I like to have a nice quality black turtle-neck sweater, they go great with any color jeans or pants, they can be very casual or a little more dressed up, depends what type of pants, shoes, boots and jewelry you pair them with. Burgundy and a deep russet color are probably going to be my favorites this fall, I love those rich colors.
