Thoughts On the Solar Eclipse

I have been reading a lot about the solar eclipse that is coming tomorrow. There are all kinds of views on what the eclipse means and people are gearing up for a spectacular view.

While I was thinking about everything that is going on in our country, rumors of wars, protests, etc., I realized I could easily begin to fear what the future holds. Thankfully, scripture reminds us as believers, that we have nothing to fear.

Thoughts On the Solar Eclipse

Here are 3 reasons we can have faith that our future is in His hands.

1. God is in control. Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

I don’t know what we’re going to face this week. You don’t, either. But I can tell you without a doubt that God is in control. It may not always seem that way because we see things through a human perspective. God sees the bigger picture.

2. God is never caught off guard. Isaiah 46:9-10, “Remember the things I have done in the past. For I alone am God! I am God, and there is none like me. Only I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish.”

Sometimes I think when something happens, we think it’s a surprise to God. Nothing could be farther from the truth. He alone knows the future. Not only does he know it, he holds it!

3. God is on His throne! Psalm 47:8, “God reigns above the nations, sitting on his holy throne.”

Don’t ever doubt that God is on his throne. He’s there and whatever we face, He is with us. Trust him!

I’m so thankful the cross has the final word…

Have a blessed Sunday!

  1. I like the comment about spending as much time preparing for our Lord’s return!!

Totally different subject….my daughter and I are driving to Florida from Cincinnati…..and wondering where good areas in Kentucky are for visiting an Amish community??

Trying not to go out of the way to Pennsylvania.

  2. Thank you Cyndi for these reminders and scriptures. My birthday is tomorrow and and I am so very thankful that I am healthy. My husband and I celebrated my birthday this weekend by going to see Mandisa and Newsboys at The Biltmore House in Asheville, NC. Both were phenomenal!!! The view of the sun setting behind the mountains was absolutely breathtaking. Not only did I soak in God’s words through their music, I soaked in the beauty of his creations. The Newsboys sang this song Friday night and sound amazing live. Enjoy your Sunday evening. ~Lisa~

  3. As my friend posted on Facebook, if people spent as much time preparing for the return of Jesus as they are for the eclipse, the world would be a much more peaceful place.

    1. Well said. I might add that if humanity would seek God supremacy, there would be no worries about racial supremacy of any kind…

  4. Thank you dear sweet Cyndi. I do not fear because of my faith, and I do not follow local or political news channels, blogs, etc. I have family to care for, many hobbies, and friends that make me feel very fulfilled. Lots to be thankful for, and keeps me focused. Wishing You and your ladies a very bright and blessed day. Kindly, Katie

  5. Great thoughts today Cyndi. I do not fear the future, because I am a daughter of God, who all ready has been there, and holds the future in His hands! All things in His perfect timing, I trust Him in all things. Blessings everyone!!

  6. Corrie Ten Boom wondered to her father if tested would she be able to keep her Faith? Her father asked her “when we get on the bus when do I give you your penny”? The answer was “right when I am getting on the bus”. This was and is a great comfort to me. I know the Holy Spirit will give me “my penny” when I need it. Have a blessed Sunday and protect your beautiful eyes.

  7. Thanks Cyndi……..so glad I checked this before church today. I so needed to be encouraged in the exact scriptures you send. Just struggling with my health and wondering if this is it for me. Bless you.

  8. Cyndi I love this fact about the solar eclipse: The sun’s diameter is 400 times that of ithe moon which ought to make it impossible for the moon to block the sun’s light, but the sun is 400 times farther from the earth so that the two appear to be the same size. God’s plan is beauriful.
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Psalm 19

  9. We won’t be impacted too much at all due to the path of the eclipse. The next one will be more prominent for us in 2024. I last remember a total eclipse in my elementary years. Just another of Gods wonders!!! And yes as a believer I know who holds my tomorrows and I know he’s in control. How thankful I am to have that assurance each day.
    Thanks for sharing

  10. I too worry about what’s going on in our nation and maybe the eclipse is a sign of rememberance to all that there is a greater force, controlled only by God and we need to continue to pray for peace.

  11. Great message Cyndi and what a gift we have to belong to the One and Only True God who holds all things together! I’m excited to watch the eclipse and observe another aspect of God’s beautiful handiwork! All praise and glory to Him!
    Be Blessed!

  12. So thankful for our God. And, for people like yourself who put it all in prospective. As for tHe solar eclipse, I feel it is just a timely thing and not a sign of anything although I have not done much research on it. I plan to go outside tomorrow and check it out but that is all. It should help the economy with all the travels entering out country to check it out.

  13. Great reminders Cyndi! I have heard that Jerusalem has not experienced a total eclipse in over 1,000 years, and think God has THAT already set in HIS timing!
