Fall Date Night Outfit

About a month ago I shared this off the shoulder sweater from Nordstrom with shorts. Some of you asked if I would style it with black jeans.

This a great fall date night outfit and if you’re a fan of designer jeans, these Paige jeans are amazing.

Fall Date Night Outfit

Paige jeans are soft, and they fit great, this pair has a medium rise. The best part is they don’t stretch out after wearing them. If you’ve worn jeans that stretch out, you know how aggravating that can be.

Fall Date Night OutfitThis off the shoulder sweater stays in place and I love the contrasting fabric.

Fall Date Night Outfit Fall Date Night Outfit Nordstrom has a great selection of Paige jeans and I promise you they won’t disappoint.

  1. I really love the black and white outfit with the neutral booties and purse!! I have always thought black pants/black shoes and now I can’t wait to pair my new taupe booties with my black jeans this fall!!

    1. I absolutely love this outfit Cyndi! Sexy and classy mixed jnto one! And you look amazing too!!

  2. You look beautiful as always and I really appreciate the clothes you style. Even the pricer ones, provide a great idea and if we don’t want to spend that much, we can take the idea and find a less costly pair of jeans or tops. I appreciate the quality of the items you style and especially for black jeans that you can wear for many seasons, spending a little more for quality is worth it if the jeans are perfect!! Thanks for helping us all look better on a daily basis!

  3. I agree. I think we are all entitled to our feed back positive or not. Let’s face it, we all have different styles. I look to the blog for what’s in style and what’s not. What the new colours are for the upcoming season and how to put outfits together. Also to make new outfits from what’s in my closet that I may not have thought of. Also as always the beauty of the heart.

  4. I love most outfits you style and enjoy beauty from the heart. You look adorable as always, however This outfit is a miss for me, not a fan of open toe booties, nor the top. Love to see more moderately priced items also. Some are just too Pricey for most of us. Also would like to see more peices reused as we can not afford a new outfit daily. Enjoy the conference ,Blessings!

  5. You look gorgeous! Not just for your age but for any age!!! I hope you feel as awesome as you look! And price per wear I am sure the Paige jeans are well worth it!

  6. Hi cyndi! I loved your look today, I think you look
Fabulous! What I like about it is that it shows a little edge. I also like how u went with those shoes and bag color!

  7. I didnt like this top last month and still dont. Just so weird looking. Looks like two tops with one being off the shoulder. Just a big no!!

  8. Cindy, I have been following your blog for a few months now and I love it! You are a beautiful woman from the inside out. I love that you style your clothes and let us know where you buy them, there are not many stylist who gives you that information Yes, there will always be people that can or cannot afford what you are styling, but I love the ideas you post. You have been an inspiration to all of us. Please keep doing what you do. I look forward to your daily post and inspiration for the day. I pray your conference goes well and you will bless many women who attend. I would love to attend one if your conferences. Where can I find information and dates for your conferences?

  9. My girlfriend and I shopped at Nordstrom Rack this weekend and she found some black Paige jeans for her daughter for $22 dollars. They were a size 24 and Of course they didn’t have my size 28 lol. But I told my friend her daughter would love them and told her what a great deal she was getting. I can’t afford most of the higher end designers either but I get inspiration and shop the outlet stores and it’s so fun to find a great deal every once in awhile. 🙂

  10. Well wouldn’t you know it! On a week when someone is swamped with preparing to share Christ with a group of ladies, Satan raises his ugly head! Relax Cyndi, I got this….Cyndi has to appeal to many ladies and we are all different. I think this outfit is on trend and SO easily copied at any price point! My black jean came from Costco and I love them. Seriously, let’s put Satan in his place and enjoy this blog for the knowledge and spiritual encouragement we receive.

    1. Are we suppose to only give positive feedback regardless of whether we like the outfit… or not?Let’s be honest here folks. STOP with the satan business lady. NOT ON!!!

  11. ADORABLE!!!!! Thank you SO MUCH for posting your sizes again. It really helps when ordering on line. I for one am glad to see that you are showing a little more upscale clothing. I am NOT a fan of Glamour Farms and will not waste my money on cheap clothing. I’d rather have a few great pieces.

  12. I LOVE this outfit! You look very chic and younger than your years. Why should the younger girls get to wear all the fun, off-shoulder tops when we can look just as good.

Really like the black jeans and am a fan of Paige, too, just can’t buy them every month. LOL! Also like how you kept the accessories neutral.

  13. I think this is such a cute top. I got the peep toes too and can’t wait to start wearing them. The eclipse was AWESOME. I was completely indifferent until I looked through glasses and then I was hooked. You can’t even explain it.

  14. Love this whole look, Cyndi! More things on my shopping list. Wore the floral cardi from a few weeks ago and got rave reviews from total strangers. I am wondering if you think the top in this post could be worn pulled up onto the shoulder? I have really narrow shoulders, so off the shoulder never works for me. Would love your thoughts. Thanks!

  15. I’m excited to see this top with black pants! I like it! Perhaps everybody is different, but I don’t figure the cost of a purse and shoes into the cost of an outfit. This would be a $268 outfit–pants and top. And not really that, because, like with the purse and shoes, these pants are a basic that will be worn over and over with other items. I kind of figure on a cost per wear basis per item, not per outfit. If it’s super trendy, and I’ll only get probably fewer than 10 or 15 wearings out of an item, I’ll either not buy it, spend less on it, or go ahead and buy it with my eyes open (sometimes way wide open) at the price tag if I love it very much. But purses, shoes, and basic jeans? Meh! I’d wear each of those things over and over for several years. Now, finding a strapless bra to fit….that’s another (sad) story! But I absolutely love this on you. I also love that you are showing it with the current trend of neutral/beige shoes and bag for inspiration. I’d probably revert to using black instead, but I find a strong look like that usually flatters me, and we all have to tweak these things to suit our unique selves. You look fabulous!!!!

  16. I am just not crazy about his top. I could see a twenty something wearing it. It would be a difficult top to wear on the 40-50 something woman. Sorry, I normally like your outfits. You still look cute though.

    1. I agree and I said the same thing when it was paired with denim shorts. It looks like it should be on a 20 year old. That being said, I think Cyndi looks great for her age and just because we don’t all share the same opinion doesn’t make it satan. Are you only wanting comments if you think everything is perfect because if that’s the case then leave off “the comment” section of the post.

    2. I think Cyndi looks great, my point was that I don’t think this look would look good on a lot of the older women. I am sorry if I sounded like Cyndi didn’t look good. She always looks beautiful!!

  17. This outfit looks great on you! I love how you added the beige bag and wore beige boots with the black and white. I still tend to wear a black shoe with an outfit like this instead of the neutral. Old habits are hard to break!

  18. I love your blog, but I am plus sized and often can’t find things in my size. Could you give some plus size options? Would love a recommendation for a good plus size jean.

  19. The outfit head to toe very expensive. I was very surprised. Even if on sale don’t think it could have been much less to make a difference.i kind of agree with many of the readers.

  20. Adorable outfit on you, but unfortunately I am not comfortable in any off the shoulder top. I do agree that the eclipse was a little disappointing. I didn’t have the glasses either. I actually thought that the sky would be a little bit darker. My husband was laughing because i was waiting for something spectacular to happen! Hahaha..oh well.

  21. I like black jeans for fall and winter and love how you styled the tan booties with them. I have black jeans from Old Navy that have held up well so I may pull those out again, but I’ll definitely have to find some tan open-toed booties! Thanks for sharing!

  22. Hello,

I absolutely love this outfit on you! I’m quite the opposite of some of the readers…..I’m crazy for off the shoulder tops. The classic black/white is always a winner.

    Have a wonderful week!

  23. Love this outfit on you – you look AMAZING!!! Love the top, especially with the black pants, very sophisticated looking for a wonderful date night, yet looks comfy enough for a day to evening look as well. AND even better because you were SMART and shopped all your favorite pieces at Nordstrom’s SALE – makes everything affordable and you will get many many uses out of such good, basic pieces!! Thank you as always Cyndi, and your thoughts from the heart – I will be praying for you as you speak at the conference – have fun!!

  24. Love so many things you style but with two kids in college I can’t justify the cost. I would also love to see some more moderately priced options.

  25. This entire outfit is very stylish on YOU, and I love the way you put everything together – esp. the booties. Really like nude shoes/booties and think they’re much better looking than say a black bootie – especially with the top you have on black shoes/booties would look very heavy. While I wouldn’t wear the top for various reasons, I think it’s becoming on you. Best wishes and prayers for your upcoming event.

  26. what are the technicals involved in putting a button for folks to agree, like etc on another readers comments rather than writing the very same comments ???
agree with reader suggesting more mid priced fashions. also agree that the top just does not look like a Cyndi selection.

    1. looking fwd to your comments about the upcoming speaking engagement. sounds like a great opportunity to advance the cause for our Savior with the extra outer beauty bonus.

  27. Your Beauty for the Heart is spot on, I love it! Praying for your conference this week! Be Blessed!

  28. Would love to start seeing a lot more affordable pieces at some normal places like kohls,jc pennys, dress barn, target.

    1. Yes to more affordable fashion. Yes to comparable styles for plus size. Cyndi I love your style and have learned a lot since I started following your blog. Sending a big thank you.

  29. Thanks for sharing! Price aside, I am sooooo over the off-the-shoulder and cold shoulder look. Don’t love the look anyway, but it seems to have run its course with most women. You look lovely as usual, just hoping we’ll start seeing some new fall looks soon … so far I haven’t really seen much on the blog scene that’s new and different from last year. Any thoughts, Cyndi?

    1. My thoughts exactly! I am ready to move on and never look back when it comes to off-the-shoulder and cold shoulder tops.

  30. Hello Cindy🙋🏻
The jeans and shoes are fine, but the top has to go… looks odd! All in all not worth paying that ridiculous price!

    Blessings,
    Raquel

  31. I absolutely love everything about this outfit! You look great, Cyndi! And that quote…aww-mazing!

  32. Love the outfit not sure about the shoes with that particular outfit though
Good luck at your conference and please show us some Glamour Farms
I love their clothes and the prices are very affordable

  33. I agree about the price – how many of us can have an outfit that is close to $1,000! Definitely not me and I work a full time job outside the home. I understand Nordstrom probably supplements some of the blogs that feature them and their quality is good on most things – BUT an average woman should not spend that kind of money on one outfit. That is the problem I have been having with the blogs I read lately and may just have to stop as honestly it makes me “lust” after those $500 purses that I could not afford.

    1. Darlene just for reference my handbag and booties were purchased during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale so I didn’t pay full price.
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

    2. I agree totally. Seeing such high priced items that are so lovely displayed makes me “desire” to have them too. It’s a real struggle in today’s culture. We are called to be good stewards of our money and put priorities in Godly order. Additionally, I have to say that the off the shoulder tops probably aren’t a good choice when you consider that the look is quite “sexy” which indicates in itself that it’s lustful in nature. By reading this, you would probably think I’m an elderly , over weight and quite prudish women however I’m 49, slender and just trying to be the best ME that I can be for Christ. The world has already shown that it’s standards are upside down and twisted. I think women of faith should show more of Christlike choices in our fashion and in the way we suggest financial expenditures. And if I’m being quite frank, my husband would NEVER want me to leave the house wearing this type of top on a date night or any other time. And I wouldn’t wear it out of respect for my husband as well.
Cyndi…you are beautiful and I don’t want to hurt your feelings. I am just sharing my comments in the Comment section. May God continue blessing you and your family.

  34. Your price point has increased considerably since I started following you. I wish you would show more reasonable outfits.

    1. You are right, Kari. I guess Cyndi’s style has evolved in a different direction than mine has, because lately it’s usually Loft or Nordstrom, and even on sale I just won’t pay those kind of prices.. I have a son in college and one in high school, but Cyndi does not so that might make a difference on how much she decides to spend on clothes. I still read her blog and pin some if her outfits, but I can usually figure out how to get the look for less. She styled a pair of shoes from Macy’s and I was able to get the same exact brand and style for a lot less from Belk with sales and coupons. I still enjoy reading her blog though!

    2. Agreed. When I started following years ago Cyndi styled on-trend fashion but at a reasonable price point. She praised items found at Target, JCP, and the like while commenting that she didn’t spend on designer labels. Seems now it’s more about collecting the money from high priced affiliate links than sharing style tips with the average women who have been with her blog from the beginning. Her blog now looks like all the other high priced fashion bloggers with numerous pictures that all look the same on remote locations. In the beginning her photos were taken in her home or on her porch. I’m sorry but those older photos seemed so much more genuine than the newest ones. Just a long time readers observation and opinion.

      1. Very well stated, Lesa. But I guess fashion blogs change as styles and tastes change. I’ll still check in and take a look every day, I just won’t be clicking the linked items because I know they’re out of my price range. It’s hard to find a fashion blog that isn’t affiliated with Nordstrom, and I don’t shop there nor do I intend to.

      2. I completely agree. Loved the personal touch before with price points the average 40-50 something lady could afford and pull off while looking stylish. Very disappointed with all the Nordstrom pieces that are not worth the price, when comparable pieces can be found other places. Still love to periodically look at the post to get ideas for causal wear, as it does not highlight enough work wear . Cyndi looks great as usual and I know blogs evolve, but I will look elsewhere for ideas for me.

  35. Very cute outfit. How do you wash the sweater? I always separate my whites and darks and wouldn’t know which pile to put this in! LOL

  36. I’ve noticed Glamour Farms is getting in some new fall pieces…. will you be styling something from there soon? Would love a graceandbeauty code. Thanks

  37. Black jeans are SO versatile! It’s hard not to wear them every day! And Paige denim is nice quality.
Sorry, but still not feeling that top. Sorta feels homemade to me–like someone sewed two tops together LOL!
However, absolutely everything looks good on you, Cyndi!

  38. It’s a cute outfit but to do the whole thing would be over $900.00. Just a tad pricey for me😉 I love the color of the purse but may try to find one a little less pricey. You have styled everything very nice. Good luck as you prepare for your conference. I’ll remember to pray for you and that others may be touched by your words.

  40. I love the look of the jeans. Looks like the fit well and if they stay that way, what a plus!! Do the Paige jeans come in high rise also? I just don’t like how mid rise doesn’t flatter the waist line. Love your message for the heart today.
