Fall Short Outfit with Transition Pieces

Happy Thursday! We are having some cooler August weather than normal over the next few days. So I thought I would share a fall short outfit and some of the transition pieces I add to my outfit.

I love a white t-shirt with jean shorts, it’s basic but I added a statement necklace and I always keep a cardigan in my car so if it gets chilly I can throw it on.

There are lots of different cardigans but I really like a cocoon cardigan. This olive cardigan is from Target and I found a few more online.

Another transition piece for me is leopard flats. You can wear these anytime of the year but they are a great transition shoe between summer and fall.

Fall Short Outfit with Transition PiecesI typically wear more jewelry in the colder months than I do in the summer. I like having a statement necklace to add to my shirts and sweaters. This Halogen necklace will go with so many outfits.

Fall Short Outfit with Transition Pieces A white t-shirt is a must have for me and I have a lot of different brands in my closet. This one is from LOFT and it’s a good lightweight t-shirt.

  1. I always love your style. i always struggle with what to wear at my age because i don’t want to dress “old” or “too young”. You are a great inspiration!!!

  2. Questions –
Has your daughter stopped blogging? I can’t seem to find any updates.
How does your husband like Stitch Fix? Waiting to see him in his selections.
Has he started a blog too?

  3. This is my first post but I read Cyndi’s blog every day and enjoy it very much! I think comments positive or negative are good! It causes me to think about my style choices, and when I am shopping make better choices! Is this not why we read the blog? Opinions are just that, we don’t have to like and praise every option Cyndi shows us!

    1. I agree with you. I don’t think any of the comments I’ve seen here have been hateful, but anything other than absolute praise is perceived as mean by some. This blog has definitely changed since I started following it, but things do change and evolve and it’s her blog/business to do whatever she wants with it. It just doesn’t appeal to me the way it did a couple of years ago, and that is an opinion and not an attack. An opinion that some other readers apparently share.

  4. I wear less jewelry in the summertime time too Cindy, it’s probably because of the summer heat! Love the leopard flats and cardigan for transitioning into fall too! Thank you for your always inspiring posts….love your blog!

  5. Love this look!! I’m waiting for new leopard flats to come in. I bought a cheap pair in the spring that got a lot of use and decided to invest in a better pair to make my feet happier 🙂 Pinned for future reference!

  6. Ahh, snugly sweater time. The wrap aspect makes it more interesting and the olive color is fresh for fall.

I didn’t find you in my inbox this morning.

  7. Love the cardigan! Wish it was still available at Target. Maybe they will bring it back for this season. Fingers crossed!

  8. I am no where near Cyndi’s size or age. Bigger at 5ft 10 inches. Age We’ll just say older. Maybe I have more imagination than some. I get the idea then buy what fits and looks best on me. Why do people have to write such hateful opinions ? Please be nice and give positive feedback. If You don’t like a piece of an outfit or the price say so but in a nice way. Cyndi you look darling as usual the outfit is great. I hope your words bless those you speak to this weekend.

    1. I agree. There are things we see that is not our style but doesn’t mean it is not good for someone else++++The is a nice way to put it. Or just don’t post that day. Sorry if this is not typed right for some reason the print is really tiny.

  9. Love the outfit and the flats with the shorts. I forgot my statement necklace today with my top and was like man to me it just throwed the top off.

  10. I love my leopard flats and wear them so much in fall, winter and spring. I keep a sweater with me all the time too. I hate being cold in restaurants and stores. Cute look!!!

  11. This is a very nice outfit! I love the cardigan and will be looking for one! I have to say that just because someone posts a negative comment, it really is just an opinion and not an attack on Cyndi. In fact, I would think that Cyndi would want to hear what her readers think, want to see more of, see less of, etc. Of course, she cannot appeal to everyone every day! Personally, I didn’t care for the outfit yesterday, although I thought the top was better with the black jeans than with the short shorts! That’s not satan talking, that’s just my personal opinion! It’s maybe too “teenager-ish” for me, but I still appreciate Cyndi’s style and advice, and I know her other readers do too, even if we don’t love something she may style every now and then!

  12. Such a cute outfit! I too love the classic look of denim with a white top. Thanks for the Inspiration to incorporate Fall colors. Blessings!

  13. I love the sweater with the white tee! The shoes add great interest! I look forward to your Beauty For The Heart each day and am so blessed and inspired! I pray that you will touch so many hearts at your conference!Thank you, Cyndi!

  14. From head to toe you’re adorable! May God’s grace and the Holy Spirit’s anointing cover you as you speak and bless women’s hearts this weekend! God Hugs!

  15. I wish the cooler temps would push south to Auburn, Alabama. Going to be a while before I can break out the sweater.

I so love leopard print. So classy!

    Have a wonderful Thursday!

    Patricia

  16. Such a great outfit!! For women 40+ AND 40 and under! And I agree Beth.
Cyndi-thank you for your blog and for sharing all that you do with us. I pray that you have a successful conference and there’s no doubt you will touch the hearts of those who attend. Also, I pray for all who comment on your posts. May we be mindful of what this blog is intended for which is Beauty for the Heart. While everyone has their right to comment, leave positive/negative feedback, etc. let our opinions and comments also reflect beauty for the heart. Sometimes, it’s not what we say, it’s how we say it. Thank you again Cyndi. Your blog is a blessing 🙂

  17. Beautiful outfit! Love leopard flats and thanks to you I wear them with many more outfits then I would of known to.

  18. Love that outfit! I am so in love with leopard flats. I’ve had mine for over eight years. I need a new pair! Lol! I feel like leopard is a neutral for me! Ha! Thank you!

  19. CUTE!!! So glad the comments are nice to read today..I prayed for you this morning cause my heart broke for you yesterday! Have a great wekkend and keep on being you!!!

  20. Very cute. Still trying to do the leopard flats. I have some and find myself never wearing them. I’m a cool color when it comes to colors I wear and leopard just never seems to fit the colors I wear. I can’t wear olive green on top for sure. I love a good denim with white tee. I have the same one from Loft. I love their tees and they go on sale or clearance all the time for great price. I just got a great white tank with a little flare bottom to it on their clearance for $6. Everything on clearance is 60% off. 🙂 I also got the dark grape tee with bell sleeve for $14. I never pay full price there. I’m ready for Fall too……cozy sweaters, scarves, booties and pumpkin lattes’. 🙂 I sure hope scarves are still going to be in. I LOVE them. Have a good weekend as I know many woman will be blessed by your speaking. Anxious to hear all about it next week.

  21. Love the look. This will be easy to replicate in different colors too! I also love the devotion today. Let’s listen to the Lord even when we don’t want to hear what WE think is best. His ways are not our ways. Thanks for the pause and thoughtful comment. I prayed the Lord would bless you and your audience this weekend.

  22. Absolutely LOVE the Leopard flats! Leopard is truly a great neutral. For an on-trend and at the same time classic flat, I’m definitely willing to take the splurge option! Thank you for your post and inspiration Cyndi!

  23. So cute…and I have all of it in my closet except for the statement necklace! Thanks for sharing your style with us, Cyndi!

    Pam

  24. This is so cute and is just what us Texan wear in the fall (shorts and a sweater, when we need it)lol
But, I wanted to ask about the leopard flats, I bought some a while back that have a round toe but noticed most of the ones you showed us are pointed toe, are the round toe out of style now?

  25. Cyndi, I really like this outfit and you look great in it. I’m so ready for cooler weather! I have a cocoon sweater and of course solid tees, and statement necklaces, so I can just about recreate your look. Good luck with your speaking engagement this weekend. I have a prayer request for a friend and former coworker, Jeannie Spamer Szombathy. She’s in her late 50’s and is battling cancer for the third time. The tumors spread while on daily oral chemo, so now they’ve begun chemo infusions that she will be on the rest of her life. She is also in a new marriage to a man that we used to work with as well. Thank you!

  26. Love it!! I have all the pieces but a large statement necklace so may have to look for one. Just bought a new white t and an olive geeen cardigan ( although I like the one you’re wearing too). I even have leopard print flats, perhaps our weather will soon warrant these pieces. Only change for me is I would wear my jeans 😉All the best for your upcoming weekend..

  27. I love that you took a basic and made it interesting with the cardigan and shoes!! I could even have my moms (the 60+ & 70+ models on my blog) do this with jeans since they don’t really wear shorts anymore!! But very inspirational, Cyndi—thanks!!
    XOXO
