Fall Beauty Routine

I’m here today to share a few ways that I am updating my fall beauty routine. I love to try new products and a change of season is a perfect time to do some updating.

Fall Beauty Routine

What I Bought

Fall Beauty Routine

Pressed Powder Foundation (Latte color)//Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner (cobalt ink)//Blush (dubonnet color)//Under Eye Concealer//L’Oreal Smoldering Eyeliner/(brown)/Pommisst Hydrating Spray

This is mineral pressed powder is designed to look like your skin, only better, and gives you the benefits of a foundation, powder, concealer and sunscreen all in one.

Fall Beauty RoutineThis blush is a beautiful color for fall. Formulated with nourishing minerals to provide a soft wash of just-blushed color.

Fall Beauty Routine I am always trying different concealers and this one is a winner. This is an eye treatment as well as a concealer containing conditioners such as jojoba esters and avocado oil, both high in vitamins A, C, D and E.

Fall Beauty RoutineWith fall and winter it’s time to add a little drama to my eyes. I’m using Bobbi Brown eyeliner (cobalt ink color). This is a blue but I promise it won’t take you back to the 80s. It adds some pop! I use the L’Oreal smoldering eyeliner to line my lash lines.

Fall Beauty Routine I finish with this hydration spray that is a natural, organic, ecocert certified product that plumps and hydrates your facial skin cells.

Fall Beauty RoutineI am trying a few more products and I will let you know how I like them. I’m also going to show a before and after picture. I try different mascaras but I always end up going back to this one. It’s my favorite!

Fall Beauty RoutineDo you update your makeup with the changing of seasons?

Thank you for taking time out of your day to stop by my blog. I’m on FacebookPinterest, and Instagram.

Beauty For the Heart~~God found Gideon in a hole. He found Joseph in a prison. He found Daniel in a lion’s den.

He has a curious habit of showing up in the midst of trouble, not the absence. Where the world sees failure, God sees future. Next time you feel unqualified to be used by God remember this, he tends to recruit from the pit, not the pedestal. ― Jon Acuff

  1. Cyndi,
I was a licensed cosmetologist and also worked at a medical spa for a few years. We had every type of individual come in for things. It’s really up to the person on what they’re comfortable with. Botox works great and so do fillers when injected correctly. (We had M.D.’s at the spa) What I will tell you is that if they recommend a laser peel, I would skip that. We had people spend thousands on the deepest peal and it’s just not a permanent solution. It looks great for a while and then things start popping to the surface again.

  2. Yes, I like to try new products when Fall arrives. My best friend & I have silk peel facials at the derm’s office and we both bought the Revision tinted moisture with sunscreen. Saved time and covered well. It is a sunscreen, moisturizer and foundation in one. Love it……covers so good and slides over lines where you don’t notice instead of sinking in. Pricey but great stuff. My daughter loved it when she tried at my house so bought her some too. Will check out your products & thanks for sharing with us!

  3. As always, thank you for caring so much about women in the world today Cyndi and for researching the many ways we can empower ourselves and our place in our home life and work life. Thank you for doing the legwork of so many creative avenues in fashion and appearance and for sharing your findings with the rest of us! Most of us readily admit we feel better about ourselves when we take care of ourselves inside and out, yet we aren’t always willing to invest the time and energy needed to figure out what to do for ourselves and how to do it. Lucky for us, we have you!

  4. If you like the L”Oreal mascara you should try their new Lash Paradise. I love it even more than the Original Voluminous!

  5. Cyndi, I am late in replying. I didn’t get a chance to read your email yesterday. You really are on of the most beautiful 50 + year olds I know and I hope to look as good as you do in 6 years when I am where you are. I think it is important to do lots of homework when it comes to these things and to think of the example you are setting to your family and others. It is hard to grow older. I have a list of things I would like to get done myself, but haven’t felt that it is time or necessary. We can love God and get treatments, but we can get carried away too and our hearts and thoughts can be on worldly things too often in the media-centered world we live in. Good luck to you in your decisions.

    1. Hello there! I really enjoy you blog, as well, Cyndi. I think you look amazing. Your health and fitness is very inspirational. Remember everyone, exercise is the best “youth pill.” I agree with this person that you are beautiful and don’t need to do a thing to yourself. Be very cautious. I wouldn’t want to see you change because you are wonderful just the way you are!!

  6. I have a good friend who’s an RN and works for a dermatologist. She is well trained and uses fillers and Botox and looks great at 60 years.

That said I have seen women who look over done and it looks like they’ve had work done and it doesn’t look good.

I’m sure you’ll find the right balance and make the right decision.

    Blessings,

    Beth

  7. At age 55, I decided I needed some cosmetic help as I was looking older than my age. I’m a fair skined redhead and felt I hadn’t aged well. I wasn’t as up to date on all the options available and went with the facelift and chemical peel. If I had it to do over again I would go the route of chemical peel, fillers and botox. I will be 61 soon and I find the lift isn’t holding up as well as I expected. Like you, I’m of a normal weight and good health. For the money, pain, risk and temporary results, invasive surgery is not worth it. IMO Do what pleases you but I think you can get fantastic results with the non-invasive procedures. Hope this helps. BTW, I get your daily email but see nothing regarding cosmetic procedures.Where else should I be following you? Enjoy your posts and would like to read all you have to say. 🙂 Have a great day!

    1. Nix what I said about not seeing your post on cosmetic procedures . Went back and reread the original post. Good luck with your decision.

  8. Interested in your feedback re fillers and Botox – I’ve used for years but backed off a few years ago. Still of the opinion they are better than surgery, except eye surgery which I had a few years ago. Thanks for your candor.

  9. I don’t get your daily emails, so I am reading between the lines–you are considering augmenting your beauty? I’m sure you will impact many on that journey in a wonderful way. What if your injector/surgeon/facialist doesn’t know God? As you move forward, I know He will use that process (and you) in a way that brings Him glory. So don’t let the shamers shame. I’ve been reading your blog for a couple of years, have not done any age work (as of yet), but am sure that everyone should do what they are comfortable with. Keep up the great work you do for us readers who may not respond very often 🙂

  10. Cyndi, does the concealer help with puffiness under the eyes? I can’t seeen to find one that really works. Have you tried any of the savvy mineral
makeup from Young Living? Just curious if you liked it.
    Thanks,
    Vonda

  11. Thanks for sharing all the tips on your make-up routine Cyndi. I like Bobbi Brown products too.
I think for all of us it is so easy to get caught up in becoming something more than we are. From tanning, to teeth whitening, loading our closets with the most current trends, following extreme diet fads…we cannot seem to be satisfied. The truth is, We Have Enough! We Are Enough! 🙂 God has richly blessed us. Aging is part of the His plan and to do it gracefully doesn’t require purchasing anything. I think loving ourselves the way God sees us is how we truly age gracefully. Coming to Him is as beautiful as it gets! Cyndi, you have such a graceful and kind spirit. I love how you share about caring for your family and enjoying life. Keep shining!

    1. Yes, I whole heartedly agree with this. You are a beautiful work of the Lord. You are perfect the way you are. I can’t see a thing to change. And, if I could look like you at the same age, I’d be so pleased. You are much more than the beautiful exterior anyway. I see a beautiful woman of God. Thank you for all of your inspiring posts. I enjoy your blog very much.

  12. Thanks for these tips! I want to order the concealer, but was wondering which shade you purchased. The peachy or the darker one? I am olive skinned though maybe not as dark as you.
    Thanks!

  13. I think all women especially after they hit 50 begin to think about what doesn’t look the same anymore and about what options there are to fix that. In today’s world fillers seem to be the non-invasive option compared to facelifts. I know I would most likely be allergic to fillers as I am allergic even to most anti-aging topical options. I think you look fantastic Cyndi. I’m sure you will do your research. But you are beautiful just the way you are inside and out. Wish you all the best in your decision and think it’s great that you are willing to share with your readers.

  14. Hmmm quite a stir this blog has caused. Strong opinions on both sides of the debate. I have used filler in my laugh lines a couple of times. I asked around before I decided on who I would have do it. I noticed a difference but no one else did. It was very natural and I felt better because I didn’t look sad all the time. Looking stretched out and fake is another thing all together. I don’t regret using the filler but it’s up the the individual.

  15. I am wondering if you are planning on trying the new Young Living line of mineral make-u? (Savvy Minerals)
Ive been using it for over a month now and really like it a lot.

  16. The woman that does my facials had fat taken from her thigh area and used for fillers in her face. She said it was a one time procedure and because it was her own fat it was safer. Just a though.

  17. I always like finding out what other women are using and liking. I like to use Rodan + Fields Mineral Peptides for all the reasons you noted and one of the Loreal mascaras has been my go to for more years than I can even recall. Thanks for sharing!!!

    1. Do you use Rodan and Fields skin care? I tried it and am not sure I want to continue. I use the redefine regimen.

      Thanks,
      Suzanne

      1. Hi Suzanne! I do use R+F but I am also a consultant. I use Redefine and Reverse. I’d suggest trying Reverse if you aren’t in love with the Redefine. It really brightens your overall skin tone and gives you a fresh look. I love the eye cream and the Night Renewing Serum along with the Microdermabrasion paste are two of my favorites. I’m sure you have a R+F girl, but I’m happy to answer any questions you might have
        or make suggestions.😊

  18. The Bobbi Brown cobalt eyeliner…are you using that on the inside edge of the eyelid? And if so, do you do both lids, or top, or bottom only? I remember using blue liner on the inside bottom lid in the 80s, and it really did make the whites of my eyes look brighter, and I’d like to get that brightening effect again, but I do worry about looking too retro. I’d be very interested in more details on how you are using this because you certainly look very modern and natural.

  19. Hi Cyndi!

Are you using a different foundation now? I thought you used Hourglass? I went out and bought that and I absolutely LOVE it!!! Same with their blush. Do you prefer Jane Iredale over Hourglass? If so, why?

  20. Well, I’m not really sure what my comment should be today? It seems to be since turning 50 the faster way to fat loss and then cool sculpting, have become a true goal for you. Now the idea of facial work, (not sure what you are considering) is next. I think you truly look beautiful and have always looked beautiful on the outside( before any of that) and you obviously have that on the inside too:) I’m just not sure when a person knows when enough is enough. I have laugh lines which at 49 seem to be the only ones so far, and I have started to use a serum to help tighten them, but to have any procedures done…. well I’m not sure that is for me. I also have a young adult daughter who I know I make an impression on as well. I pray you will make the best decision for you, but know you have always shown outer and inner beauty.
    Blessings
    Karen

  21. Never disappointed in you, Cyndi ~ you are truly a beautiful lady, both inside and out. We all like to look our best and I wrestled with having some “repair work” done for a few weeks, before finally deciding to go ahead and have my first ever chemical peel followed up with dermaplaning, a mask and oxygen facial. While the peel itself was “uncomfortable” to say the least (and I avoided everyone for a week!), I am so glad that I decided to go ahead and have it done. I am 54 and have been a sun lover since I was 12. Having this done enabled me to get rid of a lot of damaged skin and revealed new, fresh, healthy (and younger looking skin) underneath. I am glad that I went ahead and did this… I also have permanent makeup on my eyes and am considering my brows… anything more invasive than these… in truth, I’m just not sure about. Do what makes YOU feel good doing – it’s your skin. Thanks for being such an inspiration! 🙂

  22. I have been getting Botox on my forehead and around my eyes for several years by a physician, and I’m very pleased with the results, I don’t have a fake look at all. I think aging gracefully is in the eyes of the beholder, I think those of us who want to have Botox should be able to do it without being judged. Let’s all love and encourage one another to be the best we can be through Grace and Beauty!❤️

    1. I agree Debbie! and I appreciate Cyndi’s willingness to blog about this, and I’m curious to see how she feels about it. It’s not for everyone – just like hair color, red lipstick, and self tanner aren’t for everyone. Many people have the opinion it’s taboo, or something terrible to do. I absolutely want to age gracefully, but I also know, for good or bad, we are all judged by our appearance – and as someone who works outside of the home I get that even more. I know God loves me – all of us – the way we are, but I also recall going to a Christian women’s retreat and the speaker laughingly said, “even an old barn looks better with a coat of paint”. As you know, Botox and fillers, if done properly, and done by medical professionals who have been trained well, can make you look refreshed, well rested and frankly less “haggered” and it doesn’t have to be screaming “fake”. I’m not surprised by some of the responses I’ve read here, and I agree with all who said Cyndi is beautiful the way she is – that is obvious with every blog post. I bet many would be surprised how many women AND men they know who are having in office procedures done and they keep it a secret. Hollywood/Hollyweird has given these options a bad rap.

  23. I don’t often comment, but I read your blog everyday. It is your choice of course to do the non surgical procedures… Trying to obtain that perfect “look” through working out, style, fashion, hair, makeup is all just a hobby for most and for you a profession. Please please please seek WISE counsel before you proceed. You are sending a message too to your daughter and future granddaughters. Just make sure it is the message you want to send…You are appreciated and supported and loved either way, please don’t be insecure in your appearance or age, you truly ARE outwardly beautiful and I’m sure inside as well, which IS the most important. Praying.

  24. Sorry to hear you are thinking of having work done. Only thing I do is hydrafacial & take care of my skin with good products. I think aging gracefully is the way to go.

      1. No downtime at all. I have very sensitive skin & there is no irritation. Just google hydrafacial to read about it.

  25. Amen, He does! Thank God for His mercy! Yes, I do too change my make-up routine! I try to use a little bronzer, and go with more brown eye shades. I keep my lips as close to my natural lip color, but for fall and winter I chose golden tones.
I don’t know about the non-surgical procedures. They seem scary to me! But it is your choice. However, I think you are such an absolutely beautiful lady, and I look up to you. I’m in my 30’s, but I want to age just as I am supposed too. I think you have great skin, and a gorgeous face. 🤗

  26. I guess I am not understanding the two different eyeliners. Do you use the Bobbi Brown on the top lash line and the L’Oréal on the lower lashline??

      1. So….what is a water line? It may come as no surprise with my question that I have not updated my makeup routine in eons. I recently just started using brow pencil and feel like an old lady for doing so.

      2. Speaking of water lines….I have yet to find the best product for this application ….does the Loreal apply easily and stay on well on the water line? I love the look of the water line application and think it looks better on me (hooded aging eyes) than lining my lids…I would love to hear which products have worked for you. I haven’t found a Loreal liner that I really like while I do love most of their other products

  27. Sad to hear you are considering use of botox/fillers. I’m of the opinion that an aging face is beautiful. Please don’t look to Hollywood for beauty standards. You are beautiful just as you are.

  28. I am curious about the consideration about whether or not the products are allergy free. I have spent a small fortune
on products that CLAIM allergy free status only to be disappointed over and over again. So far , I have missed the formula for determining the ingredients to avoid for success. There is nothing like turning into a watery mess shortly after leaving the house. It can even impair safe driving.

  29. Tell me it ain’t so!!! You are beautiful just the way you are. Please, don’t inject fillers. It’s a slippery slope. Let’s not promote ageing as a negative thing. We are all lucky to be alive and enjoying this stage of our lives.

    1. I love your statement as not promoting aging as a negative thing! We can get so carried away. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

  30. Like one of the other commenters above, I was disappointed to hear you are looking into Botox or fillers. I think women need more positive role models who look their best without resorting to items that can cause unwanted side effects. I know everyone has the right to make the choices they feel are best for them, but it would be nice to see more women age gracefully.

  31. I like the layout of products in this post. I usually change some of teh shades of my blush, foundation and eyeshadow in the Winter. I felt a little sad to hear you say you were checking into fillers and botxo. I think that God had a raeson when he allowed our bodies to age. I am inclined to just you cream and sunblock.

  32. I really like or I should say actually my skin really likes Pur brand…..so I’ll be interested to know how you like Jane Iredale.

  33. Hello Cyndi
I just started a series of microneedling treatments. I have not seen a lot of results yet, but am excited about what I am seeing so far. I am not ruling out fillers, but they are costly and don’t last. The microneedling seems more cost effective and the results last because you are building new collegen. Good luck with your consultation.

  34. Can’t wait to hear about your visit to the med spa. I to struggle with “how far to go” with treatments. Want to do a little bit want to look natural and age gracefully. Thanks for doing a post on this! Anxiously awaiting!

    1. I’m the same way. Will turn 50 tomorrow. I’ve had Botox in my forehead for a few years. Tried juvaderm in cheek area once, but thought it gave me the “joker” appearance so won’t do that again and then today, my last in the 40s, had Volbella to soften lip lines. To look at me, you’d never know. I still have many signs of aging and like you, struggle with wanting to correct it but not wanting to become obsessed with it. I wish society didn’t place such a premium on beauty.

  35. Cyndi,
You mentioned in your email you are going for a consultation for some non-surgical procedures. If you are considering Fractora (a non-surgical procedure intended to increase collagen and tighten skin) please read Janice Dean’s story. She is with Fox News. It’s a scary story! I’m learning that even these non-surgical procedures come with risks. You are beautiful just the way you are!!

    1. thank you for mentioning this. It was on my mind as I read todays blog.Would not want Cyndi to have this challenge.

  36. I like new products too – and I always use a “thicker” – like a cream vs. a lotion moisturizer in fall/winter – esp. when the heat kicks on and starts to dry everything out.

As for your consult for “face treatments”…never say never :-). I started using fillers about 2 years ago, and botox off and on probably 15 years ago. I don’t want to look plastic-like, but I do want to be the best me I can be. Just be sure you research the injector – he/she MUST know what they’re doing and have lots of experience. Botox is great – if done properly. Nothing worse than the “jacked up brows” and that is caused by someone not being familiar with the muscles and only applying in specific areas of the forehead rather than all the way across. I know your feelings about natural products so these may not be for you. I will be interested to see what you think.
