What Can I Give To The King?

Happy Sunday! We spent yesterday on a train ride with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus. It was such a sweet time with Colt. It was snowing outside which made it feel even more magical.

Colt was enjoying the snow! Oh, to see the world through a child’s eyes again!

As Christmas day is getting closer, I have been thinking about the Christmas story and the gifts the wisemen brought to Jesus.

Matthew 2: 10-11, When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

I’m wondering what gift do I have to give Jesus this year?

Truthfully, I feel like I have little to offer. I come limping from life’s burdens and hurts and I bow before Him, wondering at times how he can love me? I’m in awe of His grace and His mercy.

I recently read these lyrics to a song about What Can I Give to the King? I’m reminded I can give him a heart surrendered to Him. It seems like such a small gift and yet that’s what he wants.

What can I give to the King?
Give to the One who has everything?
What can I give?
What gift can I bring?
What can I give to the King?

Give Him a heart that’s opened up wide
Give Him a life that’s got nothing to hide
Give Him a love that’s tender and true
And He’ll give it all back to you
Yes, He’ll give it all back to you
What can we give to the King?

Give to the One who has everything?
What can we give?
What gift can we bring?
What can we give to the King?

Give Him all glory, His people on earth
Give Him all praises, this day of His birth
Give Him all honor in all that we do
As He’s given His life to you

What can we give to the King?
Give to the One who has everything?
What can we give to the King?

  1. Thank you for posting this! I sang this song with a friend from church growing up in the 80s for our church Christmas program. It came to mind while doing a Bible study, and I’m so glad I could find all the right words! Blessings to you. <

  2. What a precious time to spend with sweet grandchildren!! Thank you for sharing! Thank you also for the Song verses and reminding us what we can give back for all the blessings in our lives that we receive.

You asked, “what can I give to our Lord and
Savior?” Really look at that photo of Colt and
his enjoyment of it all and your special time
with him, there is your answer!
    Have a blessed evening!!!

  4. Beautiful picture of Colt.
Your verse is right on with our Pastor’s message on Gifting God.

  5. Thanks so much for the great words and song. 🙂 I need to be reminded to focus on my Lord. This time of year can really make me nuts sometimes and I get off track. I think the picture of Colt on the train is so precious. He is so cute. I bet you want to kiss and squeeze him all the time. To think another one is coming for you. 🙂 Jonathan has such a great voice. Please tell him we love listening to him and I wish he would have won The Voice but God has bigger plans for him. I wish we had snow but we don’t. Live in Oregon. We just sent firefighters to help those in Calif. with all the fires. Last count I heard was 800 houses destroyed. Its soooo sad. My husband is a fireman/paramedic(fire chief) and my son just started his career job as one today. I know how hard they work. Prayers for all of you in Calif.

  8. I absolutely love the picture of your handsome grandson!! I have four grandsons around colts age and they are so precious to me.
My heart is heavy though as two of them I haven’t seen in two years. Our daughter choose to leave our family because of a choice she made because of a controlling husband. We were very close to them age 9 and 11. Could you please pray for healing and a miracle. Only Christ can heal this situation. Thank you so much Cyndi

Jesus Christ left Heaven’s best to come to this world to be the Savior of mankind- God gave His all for me (us). Many years ago I gave Jesus my trust,my heart, made Him first place in my heart and brought others to Christ. I continue to plant the seeds and bring others to Christ that they, too may receive God’s gift.
My Christmas gift is JESUS CHRIST!!
