Beauty For the Heart~~

“Ready for Christmas,” she said with a sigh,
As she gave a last touch to the gifts piled high,
Then wearily sat for a moment and read,
Till soon, very soon, she was nodding her head.

Then quietly spoke a voice in her dream,
Ready for Christmas? What do you mean?
Ready for Christmas when only last week
You wouldn’t acknowledge your friend on the street.

Ready for Christmas, while holding a grudge?
Perhaps you had better let God be the judge,
Why, how can the Christ-child come and abide
In the heart that is selfish and filled with pride?

Ready for Christmas when only today
A beggar lad came and you turned him away
Without even a smile to show that you cared?
The little he asked — it could have been spared.

Ready for Christmas? You’ve worked, it is true,
But just doing the things that you wanted to do.
Ready for Christmas? Your circle’s too small —
Why, you are not ready for Christmas at all!

She awoke with a start and a cry of despair,
There’s so little time and I’ve still to prepare.
O Father, forgive me, I see what You mean,
To be ready means more than a house swept clean.

Yes, more than the giving of gifts and a tree,
It’s the heart swept clean that He wants to see;
A heart that is free from bitterness, sin —
Ready for Christmas — and ready for HIM.

  1. LOVE the white boots and outfit! So glad I found your blog. I turn 50 this year and have no issue rocking this trend. Just needed direction with outfit ideas and already own similar leggings and top. 🙂

  2. This is all a “no” for me. When I first saw this I thought you were wearing a shirt under a cold shoulder top. Granted, that is a trend a do not like. It feels very Madonna circa 1982.

  3. Love the poem, and I also LOVE the white boots!!
I wore them as a teen but the go-go boots back then were knee high. I love this fresh take and as a 65 year old grandmother to 12 , I will wear them again. I don’t take myself or my wardrobe too seriously and like to have fun with what I wear!! I’m thinking they will look great with my white jeans! They look great on you!! Merry Christmas!

  4. I also love the poem. Thank you!! You look cute but the boots are not for me, but thank you for showing new trends!

  5. I think you’re adorable! The boots and whole outfit are cute! I was reading the blog in the drive thru and showed the outfit to my 23 year old son (who can be brutally honest). He said “I like the boots. Are you going to get some like that?” Well, I believe I will! Thank you! God bless you and your family during this blessed season.

  6. Good for you, Cyndi for trying new trends. You rock the white boots! You’re by far my favorite blogger, and the blog I go to first each morning. I have ordered way too many of your sweaters and tops! But I love your style and look forward to seeing what you wear every day. Always classy!

  7. Sorry that most of us girls the boots are a No !!! Sorry !!! your doing your job and we are doing ours.. It’s late I do want to read the poem tomorrow.. Good Night, God Bless!

  8. Those boots are a NO for me, they look like marching band boots.. Some things are just better left alone these are one Sorry !!

  9. Thanks for the great poem. As read it made me stop and think slow down and enjoy the moments that is what will last for ever. My husband and I were out shopping over the weekend he pointed out time White boots and I said oh no not for me. It make me stop and think of the ones I had when I was young. This is not a choice I would make today. Thanks for the past 25 days.Lot of ideas and several I have chosen.
    Blessing to all

  10. Beauty for the Heart poem was so neat. I love your outfit and you look great in everything but I wouldn’t buy white boots, as I’m sure I wouldn’t get much use out of them. Plus, where I live its too rainy and they’d get ruin in one wear. Have a great time at your party. Thanks for the great Winter series post. I loved it. I hope you plan to do a Spring one but understand, its a lot of work.

  11. Whoa, girl, pick up a baton! I hate the sweater ‘cause I think it makes you look like you’re wearing linebacker-style shoulder pads. We all have these moments. Recently I bought a boldly striped tee because I loved, LOVED its little flounced sleeves. That lasted until I got home and noticed I looked like . . .well, the Hamburglar! Actually I think this look calls for your furry white vest!

  12. No, just no. Those boots are made for walking…out the door. I am afraid that lately there are very few things you wear that I would buy, and I have ordered LOTS of your ideas in the past.

  13. Darling!!!! You really know how to pull it together. I am 62, and although I might not purchase this entire outfit, your blog gives me ideas on how to pull together items I have and/ or need I order to achieve an outfit that I feel comfortable in. Thank you Cyndi! You are a great inspiration and a continued style source!

  14. Awesome ! I love the boots & the whole outfit ! If i could pull it off I really would ! I would wear them with Everything ! Thanks Doll ! Love ya ! Lori Dee

  15. Oh wow , I love love those boots and the whole outfit is awesome. That is a great poem , it really makes you stop and think . Thank you for that
    Have a wonderful evening!!!!
    Diana

  16. Beautiful poem Cyndi. Thank you for sharing. It reminded me that I need to slow down and take time to remember it’s so much more than a clean house and nicely wrapped gifts. Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family.

  17. Love you to pieces, Cyndi, but not feeling the white boots. I think they overwhelm the whole outfit— your eye goes straight to the boots and that’s all you see.
That being said, you can pull off things us other over 40s can’t.
    Merry Christmas, Girlfriend!

  18. Cyndi, Great poem, thx for sharing!! Thank you for honoring Christ in your blog, I appreciate it!! Merry Christmas!

  19. They were called Go-Go Boots back when I was in elementary school and I wanted a pair so badly but was never allowed to wear them b/c my Mom thought they were too sassy for a preacher’s daughter! Hahah! Now I could wear them if I wanted but will probably pass, although you never know! I love that you style trendy things so we can keep afloat on what’s in style and why! Plus it’s always fun when a trend brings back memories of days gone past, only modernized! You’re sweet and adorable Cyndi and I just love following your Blog! BFTH is just what I needed to hear right now. Worshiping my Prince of Peace today!

  20. Love the outfit and especially love the poem. Thank you for sharing your style and your faith. You are beautiful inside and out! Merry Christmas!!

  21. I am probably a decade older than you, and I think you knock it out of the park with these boots. I did wear them too in my pre-teen years, but you show them off with such modernity. Wow. Just love love love.

  22. Not a fan of the white boots! You look beautiful in everything you wear.. Hope you and your family has a Merry Christmas!

  23. Love the poem such a great reminder of what this season is about. The white boots are a flashback for me as well. Go go boots, is all I can think of. Sorry not a fan and I won’t be buying a pair Thks for sharing 25 days of fashion!

  24. I’m finding your style is leaning towards too young for our age group. I’m referring to the top in today’s post, not the boots. Many of your clothes look great on my daughter but I pass on them as I’m not 20 or even 30. This started with the Glamour Farm clothes. Too cutesy and young. You were my go to stylist. I’m sorry if this upsets you. I in not way intend to insult or hurt. I thought you might like some feedback before you lose some followers. You always look beautiful – inside and out.

    1. I agree with Joanna. I am a teacher who is in my 50s. While i don’t think i dress like an old lady. I also don’t dress like the 20 year olds at my school. Most of the clothes you style are too trendy. We can’t wear cold shoulder tops or leggings unless the top or dress is almost to the knees

    2. Thank you Joanna for your feedback! I completely understand if my taste is younger but I style the clothes that I love and wear.

I think fashion should be fun and so I dress modest, in my opinion, but I have fun with it.

      Have a wonderful Christmas!!
      Cyndi

      1. I apologize for my outspoken comment. I had received some bad news and it affected my attitude. As a follower of your fashion blog, I can take away what appeals to my taste and leave the rest. I feel terrible that I said anything.

  25. Cindy, you look beautiful as always! Thank you for today’s “Beauty For The Heart” Poem. I may have to borrow this! Merry Christmas to you and your family!

  26. TOO CUTE!! Love the whole outfit and you look fantastic as always! Thank you for this wonderful 25 Days of Winter fashion! Spring will be here before we know it 🙂 Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family

  27. Thank you for 25 great days of wonderful winter fashion ideas and outfits. I have many favorites but today would not be one of them. Where we live, white boots are no where to be found( at least what I’ve seen), and would not really be my style. However I like the fact that you style what you like and look good in and what is on trend. Not everything works for everyone( which is nice or we would all leave the house matching LOL). The poem you’ve shared really touches the heart as do your BFTH on a daily basis. I hope you and your family have wonderful Christmas, enjoy some well deserved R&R:)
    Blessings
    Karen

  28. My first thought was Nancy Sinatra and the 60’s too. Then I had a flash of marching band days. Some things are better left in the past.

  29. Love the poem!
    Nooooooo on the whole outfit!
You are beautiful though. YOu have zero wrinkles on your face, even around your eyes!! Must be great genes! 😍

  30. Another great BFTH poem that I will shamelessly steal and share! Your outfit is super cute, super trendy, and very in vogue with many of the fashion bloggers I see. While super cute on you, I’m thinking this is one trend I won’t try – but, I’ve also learned to never say never :). I really do like the sweater though and like that it can be dressed up or down. Thank you for a great 25 days of winter – it’s been great and you’ve worn some spectacular things. Merry Christmas Cyndi Spivey!

  31. Thank you Cyndi for your 25 days of winter fashion. I have enjoyed seeing you style different trends. As far as the white boots trend….you can rock it. I do not see me wearing white boots because I am kind of stuck in my comfort zone. The poem is an excellent reminder to keep the main focus on the true meaning of Christmas. ~Lisa~

  32. NANCY. SINATRA must be loving this new trend. THANK you for the poem .Will love Sharing it. I often wonder how many followers are beauty of the heart followers too. We are still movie g in.son in. Law made choice wisely to let the movers do the last load come the day AFTER Christmas. Our. Kids have been the BEST. They love beauty of the heart so much..

  33. No, I’m not going there either with white boots. They were an item long ago that I’m glad is gone. As some said they were referred to as go go boots & I even had a white leather coat that was gorgeous in jr. high school. I’m glad they went out of style though as little bows in our hair & white gloves to church went out. I haven’t missed any of it. Merry Christmas ! YOu look cute in the boots though!

  34. I loved the poem. Actually copied it and plan to keep it to read on those days when i need a different perspective. thanks again…….you are an inspiration.

  35. Like your outfit. I wish I could say the same for the boots, but white boots always make me think of the “go-go” boots trend when I was a young girl, and the baton twirlers in the band. My age is showing with that comment-lol. To each his own, I guess. ; )

  36. Such a cute outfit and I love that you show us trends that we may be scared to try but you look amazing. Thank you for another great 25 Days of Winter fashion series. Happy Holidays!

  37. When I was in first grade (mid-60’s) my teacher wore Little white boots…we called them “go-go” boots back then. They were quite the rage. I remember thinking that my teacher was soooo cool! That same teacher later was the principal of the elementary school my children attended! Small world. I’m not a fan of the white boots now but it sure brings back fond memories!! Merry Christmas!

  38. Poem, right on point. I think we all needed to hear that one today! White boots are very cute but I am so old I am having flash backs…LOL and just a reminder to all who have never worn them…..treat them with “something” first because they are very hard to keep clean. Have great fun with this new trend but I will be sitting this one out!

  39. Hi, Cyndi. I want some white boots so bad that I can’t stand it. Love how you’ve styled them. I just don’t think I can keep them clean. But I might have to get me a pair. I remember wearing them as a teenager. They are fun!
