25 DAYS OF WINTER FASHION RECAP

Welcome to 25 Days of Winter Fashion Recap! Well, it was a fun 25 days and I think I did everything from casual fashion, to dressy fashion, and yes, even some trendy fashion.

I feel like I need to do some explaining about how I view fashion these days. I started blogging in my early forties. I wanted to figure out my style and what I should be wearing in my forties and beyond. I bought books, I read them, and I went by the rules.

I said things like “never” and  “shouldn’t” when it came to fashion over 40.

Then I turned 50 and I decided to throw out the books. I don’t want to say “never” or “shouldn’t”. I’ve decided fashion should be fun and I don’t want to play by the rules.

By that, I mean I like to try trends (this doesn’t mean I’ll be wearing low necklines and miniskirts that show too much skin #notgoingtohappen). I guess I agree that 50 is the new 30 (wink)!

Here’s my motto:

I think looking back over the 25 days I had a mixture of fashion and I like a mixture. I hope you will continue to join me as I share fashion but most importantly as I share about how we can be beautiful from the inside out. Beauty begins there!

Beauty For the Heart~~It’s a good time of year for letting go. Let’s not drag all our regrets into 2018. Let’s repent, make amends where we can and move on with Jesus. -Beth Moore

Philippians 3:12-14 (Msg), “I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.”

Have a blessed day!

  1. Happy New Year Cindy: First and foremost, God bless you and your family. I have been following you on and off for the past several years now. You are such an amazing person, I would love to meet with you and talk to you. I feel like I already know you and your family. I wanted to tell you that I hit the big 60 last year and have never been better. It’s just a number!!! This past year I had pneumonia and had to be hospitalized (scary to say the least) lost my hair because of antibiotics) however, coming back in thinner and white. The doctor said to give it a year, pray for my big hair again. I think you look amazing, you have lost weight and look great! I am inspired to lose weight as well and have been following in the Paelo diet and exercising. I also got my first Stitch Fix box this December- I now know why they call it a FIX – I am hooked and loved every piece, fit like it was made for me, the quality wonderful. Thank you for your BLOG and all the inspiration in every way and in all things good! Much Peace Love Blessings and Gratitude, Bobbie Miller

      1. Cyndi, I always enjoy seeing your outfits. I. Sure you have answered this question before, probably many times before, but I need to ask again…..how tall are you? What size top and bottom do you usually wear? I have to wear petite or I look like I am climbing out of a hole.

  2. I’m reading my e-mail late but
I just wanted to thank you for doing
the 25 Days of Winter Fashion for us!!

  3. I recently found your blog and love your stylish approach and kind heart. Your beauty for the heart is timely for me and is my journal entry today to ponder for 2018 and beyond. Thank you for offering such a beautiful (inside and out) blog. God bless you!

  4. I love the way you combine elegance and class with the latest trends. I look forward to your post each day and if I need an outfit for any occasion I know exactly where to look. You make fashion fun and you remind your readers that the heart is where beauty really starts. Your 2017 25 Days of Fashion were put together so well each season, and I can’t wait to see what you have for us in 2018! Merry Christmas, Cyndi and many blessings 🙂

  5. Cyndi,
Thank you for all your challenging and encouraging beauty thoughts each day: inner beauty is where it all begins. I love all your variety in fashion, it keeps bringing me back!!! I look forward to some wonderful fashion in 2018 with you.

  6. Hi Cyndi!
I’m 52, live in Texas and I’ve followed you for several years because I enjoy your blog so much. You always look tasteful and beautiful. I think your motto is great and I look forward to seeing your 2018 outfits. Keep up the great work.

  7. I feel like you know your body well and what works for you. I see the perfect blend of classic styling and trendy updates which make you look young and fresh, and NOT like you’re trying to hard. Thank you for all of the ideas, and of course your heart, which you share, too. Merry Christmas, Cyndi!

  8. Amen to that! I couldn’t agree more, Cyndi. You do a fantastic job styling clothes so keep it up. I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas!🎄

  9. I’ve been following you for two years since we moved from the Carolinas to Indiana. I’m now a stay at home mom and you and your blog helped me get out of my slump. I went from wearing business casual in the south to leggings and sweat shirts in Indiana until I found your blog through Pinterest. I’m turning 50 in the new year and I am getting my first stitch fix box in January. I also bought that cute reindeer sweater from loft. Thank you for all the fashion inspiration and scripture. Looking forward to your 2018 fashion, beauty and health posts. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

  10. I love fashion too and my style is very similar to yours. I have loads of clothes but I cannot enjoy them due to weight I have gained while recovering from an injury. So, Your blog has ignighted a desire in me to work toward getting healthier and losing the weight. I’ve joined Faster and have been studying the program, preparing to begin Jan. 1. Thank you and Merry Christmas!!!

  11. I also agree! You should wear what you like and not be afraid to ” break the rules”. I loved seeing all the outfits again!!! I can’ t wait to see what you have in store for us next year!

    Merry Christmas!

  12. Cyndi – Thanks for being an inspiration and trying new things! I agree with some of the other readers – you look amazing in red!!! And I love your spiritual inspiration as well 🙂 I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas, filled with Jesus!

  13. Thanks Cyndi for a great Winter Series. I think as you can tell by the post, we all agree its okay to think outside the box, no matter our age. I get lots of great ideas from you. Many times I would never purchase from seeing the model online, but once you style it, I love it. 🙂 One of my favorite shows use to be “What Not To Wear.” I just watched a rerun last night in fact. Such a fun show. I feel like we get that each morning with you. Your scriptures and quotes you share are the icing on the cake. 🙂 Thanks. Merry Christmas!!!!!

  14. Thank you for putting these 25 days of fashion together for us gals who enjoy your style and the heart behind it. Of course, not every particular item is going to hit everyone’s fancy but to each her own! Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family!

  15. IMHO, readers’ comments should be as beautiful as the outfits you portray (and ALL are gorgeous in their own way). Keeping our negative thoughts to ourselves would be the best way to appreciate all the hard work you put into this wonderful blog. There’s enough negative in this world already! Merry Christmas to you and yours, Cyndi.

  16. I have so enjoyed your 25 days of winter fashion, I love all the different looks that you give to us . I am glad you like the fun and the trendy clothes , keep breaking the rules , I’m ok with it . And I need all of your BFTH everyday. Keep up the good work !!!
    Merry Christmas!!!
    Diana

  17. Thanks for a wonderful 25 days of winter fashion, and all your daily effort this requires. I agree that our age should not have to define what we necessarily choose to wear. I learned that when I was hesitant years ago to buy my first pair of distressed jeans. My family said “go for it “and I’m so glad I did. I was in the retail fashion industry in my younger years( I’m turning 50 next month) and love fashion and shopping ( I doubt that will ever change). I have vowed to always dress in what I like and what makes me feel confident and comfortable. I have a very similar style to yours and that’s why I enjoy your blog so much and when I’m in doubt you give me the extra push lol…. I also enjoy your inner beauty of a Godly woman, may we all strive for that in our lives.
Merry Christmas to you and your family and to all the ladies who follow your blog.
    Karen

  18. Bravo !!! Bless you Cyndi for inspiring women to be their best ! My favorite looks are when you wear RED !!! WOW ! Stunning ! Happy Holidays to you ! Can’t wait to see you style those white boots again, soon !!! Love ya Doll, Lori Dee

  19. I love your style! Thanks for a great 25 days of style inspiration. I’m 56 and because of your blog I’m having fun trying new trends. Some worked and some didn’t, but I least I tried them or modified them to work for me. I’ve been following your blog for years and this is my first comment.

  20. I’ve been following your blog for about 3ish years, maybe a little longer and it’s been fun watching you evolve. Your style has definitely changed and watching you embrace new trends and share them is very inspirational. We are within a few months of each other age wise and I, like you, don’t want to be defined my age and look dowdy either. Older is younger these days.😉 You had so many cute looks in this series and your genuine sweetness makes them that much more beautiful. I feel like it was a rough week with the comments and I hope you won’t let any negativity get to you. Thanks for being a light, Cyndi! XOXO

  21. That’s a good philosophy Cyndi! It’s luke at our church, where we say the only dress code is modesty.
Everyone has their own taste, and just because you don’t see yourself wearing a particular look, does not mean that someone else shouldn’t wear it!
I think it is USUALLY a compliment when someone says, “I love your outfit, but I couldn’t pull it off.” It means you have style!
Merry Christmas to all you beautiful ladies!

  22. You’ve shown us so many great looks–I think #9 should go into some sort of hall of fame. And it’s funny, but when you first styled #19 I didn’t like it as well, but now, looking at it today with “fresh” eyes, I just love it. You have a great creativity for putting these things together, and I think watching what you do continually “freshens” my fashion eyes to new ideas and helps me stretch a little beyond my usual old comfort zone. It’s wonderful! Hope you and yours will have a very, very Merry Christmas!!

  23. Right on girl! I have never felt like you push fashion or trends on anyone nor do I feel like I have to mimic everything you style! I have a degree in fashion merchandising but learned long ago that the “playbook” isn’t always right for everyone or as one reader stated, we’d all walk out the door looking alike! I glean a lot from you Cyndi and am eager to see what you’re styling everyday! Keep up the great work, your fashion confidence and your beautiful heart that just flows from Christ living in you and through you! Merry Christmas!

  24. Beautiful Cyndi! I love your quote. I too love fashion like all the lovelies who subscribe. I believe we can be fashionable even if we are on the other side of 50. Your style is so much like mine. I even have the falalalalatte tee! Love it and bought it for my 3 daughters too. Thank you for everything you do. Merry Christmas!

  25. Can’t admire more your beautiful fashion sense!
You are an inspiration in many ways for many ladies. I am over 60 and still love to live outside the fashion box. It is fun and as long as I’m appropriate in coverage why not enjoy new looks?! God bless you and thanks for being such a great example!

  26. I agree fashion should be fun as long as you keep it modest i am like you no mini skirts or low tops for me. Looking forward to seeing what 2018 brings in fashion and beauty. Love your Beauty for thoughts this morning.

  27. I agree with you totally and love your blog! Merry Christmas and I hope you and your family have a very Blessed New Year!

  28. I just celebrated my 75th birthday and still love fashion as much as ever. I follow this blog because I enjoy seeing how Cyndi puts an outfit together, following trends but using her own good judgement. I love still looking youthful and wearing whatever I like, just as she does. Thanks Cyndi for all you do to inspire women and keep us fashionable. Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to you and your family!

    1. Linda, I am right behind you at 73 and loving every day the Lord gives me. I am new to this site, and am really happy with it. An inspiration in more ways than one.My mom is always my inspiration, in the back of my head. She never looked dowdy up until she died at 93. I wish I had her and Cyndi’s inner sense of style.

    2. I love your attitude! My goal is to be your age and beyond, and still want to look good. I’m not all that far behind you, 62. I see so many women “give up” or as I think of it, “give in”. I have told my daughter that if I start doing that, think that I have developed dementia and have me evaluated immediately!

  29. Amen! Well said, and I couldn’t agree more!
I love BFTH today – so much that I’m printing it out and hanging at my desk as a daily reminder.
I so appreciate your style and the inspiration to get out of my box so to say. Since I started following you about 4 years ago my style has changed – I try things that I may not otherwise :), and that’s a good thing. I too don’t want to be dowdy, AND I too will not have the mini-skirt or low cut top. Life is too short to be boring.
I really liked everything you showed us but my favorites were 6, 8, 13, 15, and 24. And for party looks 16 and 18 were beautiful. Well done Cyndi, well done!
Merry Christmas to you and your family, and wishes for many blessings in the new year!

  30. I agree we should wear what makes us happy. My favs are: #5, Luv those boots ❤️ / #7, oh so cozy / # 15, loved everything about this outfit from the cute sweater to the smart red coat / # 20, elegant describes it best.
    Enjoy the season everyone!

  31. Couldn’t agree more. Love you fashion sense Cyndi, love you style and enjoy reading you blog each day. Thank you for your hard work. I look forward to the spring fashion.
Merry Christmas to all and my personal wish for a peaceful 2018.

  32. Thank you for another fantastic and fun 25 Days of Winter fashion series. Looking back at all the styles, you really did a nice job mixing up casual wear, holiday wear and good basic pieces. I love my raindeer sweater from Loft and have worn it several times. I too use to play by the fashion rules when I worked in the Corp world but now in my fifties and working only part time I can have fun and explore a bit 😉 so your blog gives me lots of inspiration. Happy Holidays!

  33. What a great attitude! I agree with you about never saying never b/c who knows? We haven’t tried everything out there so something might surprise us. I think this goes with the idea that “the more we know, the more we realize we don’t know”. I’m all for classics so I don’t waste money but now that I’m 50 I feel more daring and don’t care what others think so I’m going to wear what I like!

  34. Gosh! I have a hard time deciding on my favorite. I love them all. Thanks Cyndi for all your do!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I hope you enjoy your Christmas holidays with your family and friends. Looking forward to 2018! 🙂

  35. Very well said Cyndi !!! I am the same age as you are and I agree with you…….no mini skirts, no low necklines and I definitely do not want to show too much skin. However, I too like to be creative and I have my own style. I like a variety and that is what I see with your style. Looking forward to your 2018 fashion, health and beauty suggestions.
Many blessings to you and your family. Merry “Christ”mas. ~Lisa~

  36. Agree BFTH was just what I needed today, Thanks for all your hard work to try and keep us updated and I for one am so ever grateful! Have a blessed holiday season with your family!

  37. I agree, Cyndi, with all that you’ve stated. I did order white boots and am looking forward to wearing them. I enjoy fashion and trends in fashion. I always think about my critics in terms of “you do you and I do me” I only have to please God and me and not be an embarrassment to my family (whatever that may mean.)

  38. Gosh, I couldn’t agree more, Cyndi!
Because getting older means getting wiser, not stuck in our ways. And I think it’s been way more fun and creative to try out new styles and “break the rules”.
I keep trying to push my mom (the 70+ model) a little when we work on the blog. She says it’s hard to change after going by these rules for so long. But I like to argue that they are “just clothes” and easily changeable. If we have such a hard time changing our thought about clothing, how can we expect people to change their hearts and minds about bigger issues???
    Blessings and love,
    OXOX
