My Favorite Outfits and Essential Oils and Animals

Hey sweet friends! Before I share some fashion with you, I wanted to address some misunderstanding with essential oils and animals.

You may have seen a post that went viral yesterday about a woman who bought essential oils off Amazon, diffused around her cat and now has a sick kitty. It breaks my heart when oils get used on pets and humans without education and knowledge that there are both fragrance and adulterated oils out there.  And most folks don’t know the difference. Applied knowledge is power!

Young Living essential oils are safe to be diffused around your pets. PLEASE read this facebook post on why they are safe. Click here.

Young Living is safe for animals. You can use them confidently and without fear. The key is to order oils that are PURE. Young Living’s oils are pure and safe. That’s why I use them. You don’t want to buy them from Amazon or Whole Foods or TJ Maxx.

Beauty For the Heart~~Philippians 3:12-14 from the Message says this, “I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.”

A great verse for the New Year. Let’s keep our eye on the goal…Jesus.

Have a blessed day!

  1. Thank you so much for addressing the animals and essential oils. I didn’t see the FB post, but have found list after list on the internet of oils that are toxic to cats and dogs. All do address the importance of “pure” oils, but still encourage not using oils from their lists around animals. Ugh! It is so hard to know what to do. I may just apply them to the humans in my family and not diffuse. On another note, these outfits are all very cute!! I like that most of them come from stores that are easy to visit or order from online! Thanks for sharing!

  2. Could you possibly have another Essential Oils class but earlier in the evening?? Love you posts and blog. I also checked out your sisters blog… subscribed. Blessings to you and your family.

  3. I was seriously considering that cold shoulder sweater from LOFT, but instead went with a deep garnet sweater and camel colored tunic sweater… I get to thinking that as cute as the cold shoulder sweaters are, like, my shoulders could get REALLY COLD!! LOL! But for real… 😀 Mainly because I hate wearing coats…. I got a super cute sweater/fleece vest at a local boutique that I am LOVING too! SUPER sales out there right now!!
    Have a wonderful evening! 🙂

  4. I love your hair in the pic with the embroidered cold-shoulder sweater. It looks fabulous and very natural. How did you ask for it to be cut?

  5. Cyndi, I am not an expert, but I am the owner of several cats. I used to diffuse pure essential oils, but after much reading decided that it was not safe. There are scientific articles and synthesized articles (http://www.usingeossafely.com/is-it-safe-to-use-essential-oils-with-cats/) that explain why. It seems it is not the purity of the oil necessarily at issue, it is the method by which all essential oils are extracted. Cats lack the enzyme to process the substances that are used to extract ALL essential oils. I read the explanation you referred to, however it appears (?) she also has a vested financial interest. Unfortunately, the explanation she provided goes against the information provided by quite a few other sources. I have to go by the many things I’ve read from many different sources–using and diffusing essential oils (especially certain ones) is not safe around cats.

      1. I do agree with posts above concerning use of essential oils on cats and dogs. I’ve had the privilege of asking several veterinarians and they concur that essential oils are toxic to our pets and advised me to never use them on my pets. I do appreciate the purity of oils and have found a few reliable companies which whom have never had issue of adulteration. A friend of mine uses YL, unfortunately I have to decline on the grounds of evidence shown through a 2011 law suit regarding YL and their adulteration of peppermint oil. You hit the nail right on the head when you said education was of key importance. I wish you all the best.

  6. I love how you can show me that something’s are not just for a brief period of time to use. I had already put my “love” shirt in my “Donation” closet. However, when I read about you pairing the white long sleeve shirt underneath, I was sooo happy. The shirt has now been moved back to my “Now” closet hanging right next to my white long sleeve shirt, and my black Steve Madden shoes underneath , to be worn when I do my Saturday chores trip. Thank you for your style and thank you for sharing it with us.

  7. Thank you Cyndi for the article about essential oils. I did see that all over Facebook yesterday and was a little bit freaked out as I have a cat and do use essential oils. Good to know!!

  8. Cyndi, thank you for telling us about the difference in the essential oils. I have a cat and I sure wouldn’t want to put her in danger!

  9. Target top – cute! I have the Steve Madden shoes and am returning for a larger size.

You are so right about not purchasing oils from Amazon, etc. I made that mistake – it arrived in an envelope with no instructions, etc. The label on the bottle is identical. Amazon DOES NOT vet it’s suppliers. Scary!

  10. Great sales going on – thank you for all the recommendations!
Thank you again for the BFTH message, it is a great one for the new year.

  11. I purchased the Love top from Target & it is my favorite go-to Saturday shirt! I get complimented on it every time I wear it. 🙂

  12. Awesome post! I had not thought of wearing a long sleeve tee under the graphic top from Target, so thank you! It’s not red, but that can be my Valentines top vs. adding another item to my closet. Love today’s Beauty For The Heart! Have a blessed day!

    1. This is a light bulb moment. My husband and I always have a casual valentines date, with a dinner and movie. This outfit ideal will be so comfortable for me. Thanks for sharing.

  13. Oh yeah the first one you posted has always been one of my favorites. I have worn my LOVE sweatshirt a lot but never thought about a long white t underneath… See how you give us the most simply ideas that we don’t often think of ourselves. I’m on the look out for a leather or faux leather black jacket to add to my wardrobe as by March it should be mild enough to wear one. Looked at The Loft last night on line and lots of great deals:)
    Have a great Day
    Karen

  14. I so agree, you do shine in whatever you do and are an inspiration as well as a wealth of knowledge. I like seeing what you like to wear daily and especially things from Target or Loft. Where i live there is no stores, except wally world, and the closet store target and loft is 35 miles away.

  15. Love the outfit, but it’s your confidence in who you are in Christ that makes you shine in whatever you wear. You’re truly an inspiration, as well as a wealth of knowledge for others who follow you and want to know more. Thanks for all you do and how much you give to enrich the lives of those around you. And I think your hair looks awesome… are you doing it differently? Have a blessed day~

  16. I was just searching for DIY oils to stop cat scratching furniture. SO glad you shared this before I bought something unsafe!!

  17. Really like seeing what you like to wear daily! Love BFTH and can’t wait for tonight to learn all I can about oils!

  18. I would never have thought that sweater could only be worn during the holidays. I have a sweater with a husky dog and stars on it from Loft that I love that seems to be a holiday-themed sweater but I wear it all the time. Latte time is year round! And I’m not a cold shoulder lover but your black one with the embroidery could win me over!
