Must-Have Jackets for Spring

The start of spring means baseball and spring sports, and with the cold weather still present, a lightweight jacket is essential. Today I’m sharing some must-have jackets for spring.

These jacket styles work for the in-between weather (not hot but not freezing either). Below, you’ll find spring jacket trends to wear in the coming months that are trendy and practical.

I’ve worn the cargo jacket below to Colt Allen’s last two t-ball games. It’s worked perfectly except I did get a little chilly by the end of the game. We are having a really cool spring!

  1. On your blog dated 4/24/18 you modeled a navy sleeveless polka dot top from Calvin Klein. The subject was a StitchFix shipment and I would love to know how to order that top. Thank you!

  2. Hi Cyndi, I love your blog! I’m also loving your cargo jacket look, especially the length as so many of them are shorter and not as protective from the wind. I’ve enjoyed all the other selections you’ve given us as well. I ended up picking up J.Crew’s Perfect Rainjacket this year in both navy and rich gold, and am loving them. They’re perfect for not only rain (and the navy matches up to my Hunter rain boots!) but also for those days when you just need a light jacket. I tried on Barbour’s new raincoat first, but it only came in bright yellow and I didn’t like the fabric or the fit nearly as much as J. Crew’s. I am always impulse shopping after visiting your blog!
I do have a question about a past post on your Hunter short rain boots. I have a couple different colors in the tall ones which fit really well for me, but I thought your short boots were so cute that I bought a pair of them. I find the opening so wide that the top of the boots flop and hit up against my calves with each step, causing pain, even when tucked into skinny jeans (unless I also wear their boot socks, which adds to much warmth here in the South). Yours looked perfectly fitted at the calf, so I was surprised when I had this problem. I bought the regular Hunter short rain boots. Is that what you have? Any suggestions about the fit? I’m thinking of returning my short pair.

  3. Thank you for including various price points. I am always shocked when a super market magazine features a cute shirt… for 300 + dollars.

  4. I ended up ordering one of the Old Navy denim jackets today – that will be super practical all year round. Thanks for such a great set of options.

  5. You’ve got some great jacket choices Cyndi! I really need to invest in a new one. A jacket is always the last thing I think about buying right behind a winter coat. Then when I need one, I wish I had thought ahead a little more! I think I was made to live in a tropical climate. Lol.

  6. My husband and I spend much of our Saturday’s attending grandchildren’s soccer games so I’m always looking for what to wear so this was of great help. It’s usually cold enough we need to wrap up in a blanket over a coat here in Colorado. I would not be able to wear sandals, at least not until it gets warmer. I bought a cargo jacket like the one you have on after seeing you style last fall and I wear it a lot.

    Blessings,

  7. Haaha! I had to laugh at Karen – both my boys are just about to start soccer and I can totally relate to the sleeping bag!! 🙂 I just got a great tan windbreaker last year and I just throw a hoodie under it (I bought it a bit big so I could do that) for the spring. I think making sure your lightweight jacket blocks the wind is half the battle! Thanks Cyndi – the jackets in this post are really nice!

  8. I really like the navy and white stripe jacket. I actually just a bought a new spring jacket from Banana Republic last week… it’s a blush color with a tie string bottom and just hits about mid butt which is great…will be cute with white denim and jeans… I Always had to bundle up for our sons ball games and would often wear three layers plus have a sleeping bag to slide into in my chair to break the wind and keep warm. It would be far from warm in May when the season started and he often had late games. This will actually be his first year to not be playing he just finished up his junior years last summer and has played since age 6 so at 21 he’s going to make more time for golfing but no worries our 24 year old daughter is still playing soccer so bundle up I will still be doing lol…
    Blessings
    Karen

  9. Lots of great choices and some in petite 😊 I’ve added a few to my chart and going to review them when I get home from work. We’re going to San Francisco next month and I was looking for a new lightweight jacket to pack. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your day!
