I get a lot of questions/comments/emails about my hair, so I figured it was time for an updated hair care post. I’m also going to do a video this week of how I blow dry my hair/bangs.
When I wear my hair straight (which is most of the time), I only use a blow dryer and a large round brush. I don’t use any other heat products on my hair.
Here are some of the questions I get weekly about my hair:
Q: How often do you shampoo your hair?
A: I shampoo my hair daily. I know it’s much better to shampoo a couple of times a week, but I never feel like my hair looks good without shampooing. Since I shampoo daily, I use a good shampoo and conditioner.
Q: What shampoo and conditioner do you use?
A: I switch between different shampoos and conditioners. I always feel I need to change my shampoo/conditioner every so often. I use two different brands. Right now I’m using this shampoo and this conditioner. I will switch back to this shampoo and conditioner in a few months.
Q: What heat products do you use to blow dry and curl your hair?
A: To blow-dry, I use this hair dryer. If I add soft curls to my hair, I use this curling iron.
Q: What’s one hair product you can’t live without?
A: Definitely Davines OI All in One Milk. This stuff is a miracle worker! It’s a heat protectant, it softens, it detangles, and it controls frizz.
Q: How do you add volume to your hair?
A: I have used a lot of products to add volume to my hair, but I always go back to this one. It’s a weightless volume-building foam that helps to add body and bounce to lifeless hair.

HI! I find your blog so helpful with fashion, make and hair care. I love your hair! I’m in my late, late 40’s;) I’m curious how you get your haircut? Do you have layers? Do you have your bangs trimmed? My stylist trims my bangs at an angle and I’m having a problem styling them.

Great post! I have fine hair and curious if the Davines All in One would weigh my hair down? I do need a protectant when blow drying and would this do the trick? With this product, is it still necessary to use conditioner after shampooing or once shampooed and towel dry apply the Davines? Sorry for the questions but think you have wonderful hair! Hi, Cyndi. Do you purchase your Kevin Murphy products from Amazon? Some of the reviews mention different ingredients than the salon version and products that leaked during shipping or were missing the seal. My salon doesn’t carry this brand so Amazon would be my only option. Thanks!

Thanks so much for all of the product suggestions. Because I have hair that is also fine, but lots of it and I even style my hair similar to yours, this is going to be very helpful information. I use one of the Aquage products when I wear my hair curly/wavy and I really like it so I’m going to also try the Aquage product you mentioned.

Love your hair! It is so beautiful and looks so healthy. 🙂 I have curly hair now since it has been slowly getting that way for a year & a half. Alittle shorter now than I have worn but working on new style. I use Pureology Air Dry Crème & Pureology Uplifting curl spray recommended by my hair stylist. Hope you find your shoes! Love shoes too!
Cyndi do you use the cloth that comes with the cleansing balm? Do you wash it after each use? I just received the cleansing balm today. Anxious to try it.

Thank you for sharing, Cyndi! I love the Davines and Kevin Murphy products. The Davines Hair Assistant hair spray is just the right hold for my hair without making it look stiff or sticky. I feel your pain re: the lost box of shoes! When my husband and I moved last year I could not find an important box for the longest time, then suddenly one day out of the blue I found it. Hopefully yours will show up as well!

I was just in to see my hairdresser before going out of town for the weekend, we actually talked about this very thing and for the most part all of the hairdressers in this salon only wash there hair about every 4-5 days. So I decided to try it since I’ve always felt the same way, “I have to wash it everyday for it to look good” but guess what, I have now not washed since Friday and its Monday and its taken less time to fix and has held its style better than if I had washed it. I’m feeling good about this. . . saving time in the morning ! Yes !!
I thought at one time you were using Monat hair products? Do I totally remember that wrong or did you switch from that? I’m thinking about some new products, and was wondering your thoughts on Monat??
