Counting Every Blessing!

Life is not always easy, but I think it’s important for us to see blessings in the midst of our pain. One of the things I have shared with you all before is how my Mom looked for blessings in the midst of her battle with terminal cancer. She was counting every blessing.

Mom found blessings everywhere. Cards from friends and loved ones were blessings. The sun shining was a blessing. When people brought food for us to eat, that was a blessing.

Everyday Mom found something that caused her to see blessings.

Mom had this poem saved on her computer, and I like to read it every once in a while to remind me that my cup runneth over.

I never made a fortune, It’s probably too late now
Oh but I don’t worry about that much, Cause I’m happy anyhow
As I go along life’s journey, I’m reaping better than I sow
I’m drinking from my saucer, my cup has overflowed

Haven’t got a lot of riches, Sometimes the goings rough
But I’ve got a friend in Jesus, And that makes me rich enough
I thank God for all his Blessings on me, And the mercy that he’s bestowed
I’m drinking from my saucer, Cause my cup has overflowed

Oh sure, I’ve been through some storm
And yes, I’m sure there were times when my faith must have got a little thin
But you know what it seems like, One day all at once those dark clouds broke
And that old sun she started shining again. So Lord help me not to grumble
and complain about the tough roads I have towed
I’m drinking from my saucer, Cause my cup has overflowed

And if I should go on living, If the way gets deep and rough
I won’t ask for other blessings, Because I’m already blessed enough
May I never be too busy, To help another bare his load
And I’ll keep drinking from my saucer Lord, Cause my cup has overflowed
Yes I’ll keep drinking from my saucer Lord, Cause my cup has overflowed

I’m wondering today if you’ve had a difficult week. Are you struggling to find good in your circumstances?

Why not look for blessings today! Write them down day and see that God is faithful even when life is hard.

This song was the perfect reminder to count every blessing!

I’m so honored that you have taken time out of your day to stop by my blog. I’m also on FacebookPinterest, and my favorite one, Instagram.

Have a blessed Sunday!

  14. I live with chronic pain because i’m crooked from the neck down, or the feet up (how ever you want to look at it) somedays, like yesterday, i get so tired of it that i get irritable, but then i remember what my mom said when she was battling cancer back in 2011, she said “i thank god for the pain, it means i’m alive,” she passed in november 2012 but i still remember her courage and those words, and i know she is no longer in pain and more alive than ever before. I have to remind myself that there are people who are living with far worse than i, mine is only chronic pain while others live with terminal illness so i will be thankful for it, i know it could be much worse.
