Trunk Club Unboxing-August 2018

Sometimes it’s nice to have someone pick out your clothes, and that’s where Trunk Club from Nordstrom comes in handy. If you need ideas or want to see some of the season’s latest trends, you can have a stylist work with you.

Here is how Trunk Club works:

1. Create your style profile-Answer a few questions about your fit, style, and budget. You can even share Pinterest boards of looks you like.

2. Chat with your stylist.-You’ll talk to a real person in real time, either on the phone or in our messenger app. Work with your stylist as much or as little as you’d like to find the clothes you need.

3. When your Trunk is ready, they’ll send you a digital preview. You’ll have 48 hours to approve or amend your Trunk preview. Once you give the thumbs-up, your Trunk will be delivered via UPS in 4–6 business days. Shipping is free, and Trunks can be sent anywhere in the contiguous U.S.

4. Take five days to decide what to keep and what to return. A $25 styling fee (waived for Nordstrom cardholders) will be credited toward your purchase. Returns are free with the included shipping label. Simply arrange a pickup with UPS right to your front door.

5. Order Trunks at your leisure, or arrange a delivery schedule with your stylist. If you’re a hands-off shopper or short on time, you may want to consider setting up monthly or seasonal Trunk deliveries.

Here is what I recently received in my Trunk Club Box:

Chelsea28 Ruffle Detail Plaid Sheath Dress (Size 4)-Sale price $98.90. I like this dress, but with all the ruffles, I didn’t think I could wear a sweater if it’s chilly, so I didn’t keep the dress.

Paige Denim Vintage Hoxton High Waist Slim Raw-Hem Jeans (Size 27)-Sale $143.90. I kept these jeans, but I can’t find them online except for a colored pair.

She sent me two Ted Baker London sweaters in 2 different colors and sizes. I didn’t like either of them. This one was a size 1, and it’s on sale for $143.90.

This was a size 2 and was too big.

Halogen Detachable Sleeve Sweater (size XS)-Sale price $78.90. I liked this, but I decided not to keep it. I’m also wearing L’AGENCE Margot Coated Crop Skinny Jeans (size 28)-Sale price $183.90.

Eileen Fisher V-Neck Cashmere & Wool Tunic (size XS)-Sale price $299.89. First, I’m not a fan of Eileen Fisher because the clothes run way too big. This is an XS, and it’s too big on me. Plus, WAY too pricey. It’s regular $448 but $299 it’s too much for me.

I was also sent three different handbags. I liked all three, but I kept the Rebecca Minkoff Small Love Genuine Calf Hair Crossbody Bag. It was on sale for $149.90.

In all honesty, this Trunk Box was way too pricey for me. I should have looked at the prices before I had it sent to me but they haven’t been this pricey before. I’m going to ask my stylist to send more pieces in my price range before she sends another trunk.

I’m so honored that you have taken time out of your day to stop by my blog. I’m also on FacebookPinterest, and my favorite one, Instagram.

Beauty For the Heart~~
In the center of the circle
Of the will of God I stand:
There can come no second causes,
All must come from His dear hand.
All is well! for ‘tis my Father
Who my life hath planned.

Shall I pass through waves of sorrow?
Then I know it will be best;
Though I cannot tell the reason,
I can trust, and so am blest.
God is Love, and God is faithful,
So in perfect Peace I rest.

With the shade and with the sunshine,
With the joy and with the pain,
Lord, I trust Thee! both are needed,
Each Thy wayward child to train,
Earthly loss, did we but know it,
Often means our heavenly gain.

  1. I could never afford prices like this…well, I could but I won’t! I like to find good quality at good prices and occasionally purchase something more expensive. This way I can have more clothes and not feel guilty for spending so much!

  2. Love your post! Just wondering why you mention your size for each piece of clothing you wear? Just curious!!!!

    1. Linda, my regular readers ask to know what size I’m wearing. If I don’t put it in the post, I would have to answer it in the comments.

  3. I think you made a wise call. Most of those pieces just didn’t say Cyndi to me. I do love the purse though.

  4. I’m not a fan of the clothing but I love the pink cross body handbag. I also liked the jeans on you however, you always look amazing in jeans! What fall essential oil are you using? Like the other ladies, I would love to see your fall decor….please share!

  5. I don’t think I’d like the jeans with the bleached out spot right In front. That’s why I prefer shopping in-store. The identical item can look different depending on the way the shading or pattern falls from one piece to the next. I once analyzed four identical striped dresses to find the one that looked the best to my eye!

  6. Good call Cyndi! The high waist paige jeans look great on you! The rest of the items tend to be too girlish for your classy style, and the price tags are over the top for was mostly were trendy pieces. I just don’t understand this ruffle trend at the shoulders. It looks goofy unless you’re a tween/teen.

  7. The jeans look “made for you.” As for the other pieces – I like some of your Old Navy picks better. So much for champagne taste…

  8. I love the white wool tunic but
I agree, it is so pricey!
and again, all the outfits look
    great on you!
    Have a blessed day!!

  9. I agree with you on all the above!!! But you do look adorable in EVERY single picture!!! Hope you’ll share your fall decorations with us on the blog. Also, which fall oils are you diffusing?? I’m wanting to purchase some not-so-summery ones??

  10. Hello Cyndi,
This email isn’t about your clothes at all. The mirror above the little side table in your pictures is exactly what I am looking for. Do you happen to know where you got it?
    Thanks!!

  11. That Eileen Fisher tunic is gorgeous, but I agree about the sizing and the crazy price! I know it’s cashmere, but gosh!
    Love the poem!

  12. Yes I agree….items are too pricey, but I love the green plaid dress on you. Maybe a blazer would hide the ruffles if you need to wear something for warmth.
Cindy, do you have a cat.? I haven’t diffused any oils since we adopted a recuse cat last Oct. too worried they will be harmful to the cat. I miss diffusing.

  13. I agree with your thinking but I want to say that this is still one of my favorite things you do because I love to “hear” your thinking around your choices.

  14. Honestly,Cyndi, other than the dress, there is nothing that stands out enough to justify the prices.
However, you look cute even In the pieces that don’t fit!!

  15. Love your Beauty for the Heart poem today!

Also, I have double front doors and am wanting a new double door mat. Have you found one you like?

  16. I’m with ya on this one. Not my favorite. I do like the jeans. Please share your fall home with us. I love decorating and I enjoy seeing how people decorate. I’ve purchased a few fall items from Kirkland’s and always look forward to a change in season.

Also keeping your family lifted in prayer with your father in laws passing. Memories have a way of flooding the heart & eyes.

  17. Cyndi, you can make a potato sack look terrific! I agree that the price points are too high for what you are getting and too many ruffles are too much.

Trunk Club seems like a good option to step outside our comfort zones.

  18. All the clothes look great on you, but I agree they were not anything special to justify spending that much money on them.

    I enjoy your blog. xo

  19. Loved this post. Thanks for sharing your honest opinions about the clothing. I have been intrigued by Trunk Club and love learning more about how it works.

  20. Yeah way too pricey… and not sure if some of the pieces really looked like you’re style… you looked good in many but see what you mean about the Eileen Fisher sweater… good call.
    Karen

  21. I’m with you Cyndi, all are too pricey and personally I don’t think they did a great job of picking styles that compliment your great look. Too many ruffles, which tends to look like something my granddaughter would wear. That’s just my personal thought, but you can make anything look good. : )
